I've been a silent reader for ages for this show, but couldn't resist posting today (since it's mahasangam week!).
I love the show and will be as annoyed as the rest of you all if Raghav and Kalpi are separate. Who knows what the crazy cv's have in store the next two days. But for what it's worth, at least they are consistent in their madness ...
I was rewatching an old episode, before the kids grew up and resaw the episode around the pen that Raghav gives Kalpi. Pakhi (was more annoying as a kid) and basically throws an epic temper tantrum to get the pen. She screams, begs, threatens, and even Neetu sees it. Neetu's take - 'haven't I done so much for your and your daughter Kamla - can't you give her one pen!?' Pakhi says - "stay out of it neetu, this is between me and Kamla ma. No, this is between me and Kalpi!," Kalpi who's crying and clutching the pen for dear life is saddened by everything. Eventually, what happens - as expected she gives the pen to Pakhi. Her one sole possession of value (monetarily and also emotionally). And Pakhi gets what she wants.
At the end of the episode, Vittal asks Kalpi why she's crying and she explains to him what happened. He's very angered of course. Kamla comes in and says "today I'm so proud of my Kalpi...today she showed that she's my daughter or some crap like that." Vittal stops her mid sentence and says... " Dont say it - I don't want my daughter to become another Kamla!" BOOM! One sentence spoke volumes...
Loop back to today - essentially, Kamla's asking Kalpi to do the same thing. Give up her love for Raghav, for Pakhi. No reasoning with her of course. As if, Raghav is some pen that can be replaced and exchanged among young girls.
Again today Vittal brought the same inequities to Kamla's attention. What remains to be seen is if Kamla realizes that she's making a mistake, and quite frankly enabling Pakhi.
She expectes Kalpana to live in reality and never fails to bring her down from clouds. But she does whatever it takes to keep Pakhi living in dreamland and never wants her to hit the ground. Frankly, Kamla perpetuates the very inequities she claims to want to change with her daugher.
