Model-turned-actress Poonam Pandey, who claimed to be listening to music in her car along with her brother, was detained and booked for indecent behaviour by the Mira Road police on Friday night. She was let off with a warning.


Pandey (23), a resident of Goregaon was in the car near the Shivar garden area of Mira Road at around 10.30 pm. She was listening to music when a patrol van approached them. The policemen warned then against playing loud music and allowed them to go. According to Pandey, as they were leaving, the policemen asked her name and on realising that she was a model, they slapped indecent behaviour charges against her.

API Praful Wagh from the Mira Road police station said that Pandey was waiting alone in the secluded area. No male was accompanying her. Wagh said that he found her skimpily dressed and behaving indecently. She was bought to the police station and booked under sections 110 (indecent behaviour) and 117 of the Mumbai Police Act.



Pandey said that her knee length yellow dress was not indecent. She insisted that she and her brother decided to go for a long drive. "We reached Mira Road and were listening to music. I did not do anything that was indecent," said Pandey, who alleged that the police slapped the indecent behaviour section on her after realising who she was.
