We all love your country, right? all indians here celebrate Independence Day, and we all, at some point, say "Mera Bharat Mahaan."

And the same is with the army.. they love their country so much that they put their country before everything else. through LRL, we can surely this through Captains Navin, Rajveer and Abhimanyu. But one thing which struck me during yesterday's epi was the two of them playing American Football.

Well, they did call it "Hunting" but as any sport lovers might know, the game is called American Football esp. known for the physical aggresiveness, and for girls to see just how much the guys work out.. 😆😳

well.. joking aside.. one thing that caught my mind was that KMA is terribly patriotic, and they always emphasize on feeling proud as an Indian.. but as Alekh said before: he is being demoted in his own country for not knowing a foreign language..

ironic isnt it? .. and the best part.. the two most dedicated soldiers to the country playing American football: moments after kissing the ground of their own country.. not that i have anything against A.F, or the serial.. i just thought this is a point to be noted..

please post your views? 😳

Shreyasi, i do see the point you are making.
But i have a simple question... can patriotism only be defined by playing indian games?
What one feels for one's country and how one defines that feeling is emotional... it cannot be measured by quantitative things...
for eg., if a person is born to indian parents and lives all his life in another country and then comes to india and falls in love with it, would you question that patriotism?
i see so many kids today who technically live in india but are completely indifferent to the country and its problems... i'm not blaming them, just stating a fact... their idea of india is a limited one and their patriotism emerges from time to time as an emotional moment but is rarely an active engagment with the country and an attempt to make sense of it... does that become true patriotism?
as far as english is concerned, yes the ability to speak english well signifies more opportunities in india... but it is also equally true that english has become another indian langauge... that indians write and speak their own variation of the langauge that has become acceptable to everybody...
something like caste is an indian concept... now if i insist on following the rules of caste and staying away from those who are not from my caste, does that make me more indian? Or more patriotic?
all i'm saying is... one does not become less patriotic if one plays an american game... nor does one become more patriotic if one goes on doing only indian things...
i have more examples but i shall rest it here... warna lecture thoda jyaada hi ho jaayega!!

i agree with both of you guys, all i meant to say is that it struck me a little bit odd; especially in an Army. i personally know army people who said that A.F is not played where they're posted because it's not very indian.. thats all
