hey guys...this is Asmita...I had started a short story named ankahee...but due to some probs can't open my prev. a/c so am pasting the stuff I hv written till now and then updating the new chapter 😊

Geet is a student...staying with her friend...she is from Hoshiyarpur...doing masters in english 😊

Maan is a professor...living with his elder sister.

Prologue

"Goodness!am late!don't know what is to become of me.Today is our first day in the university".Geet said somberly."Don't worry Geet, we'll reach on time".consoled her bestie Shikha who also got admission in the same University.Finally they reached their destination and Geet heaved a sigh of relief.

As soon as they entered Geet asked a guy,"Excuse me,do you know which way is Room no.C?" The guy replied,"Go straight and turn right".Geet and her friend followed his direction and they were soon in front of that room. Geet checked her watch and smiled,then said,"5 minutes before time". Shikha returned her smile and said, "Told you we'll not be late ".

Without wasting anymore time, Geet and Shikha entered the room and took their seat.Few minutes later,a man entered the the room.He was tall, well built and handsome in true sense. All the girls in the room were either gaping or admiring. Even Shikha could help but smile at him but Geet's face turned pale.

Part 1

Initially Geet's face had turned pale but quickly she composed herself. Shikha saw this change in her friend and asked, "What has happened to you? While the other girls have started blushing or beautifying themselves, your face almost turned white". Geet nodded but refrained from answer her query.

How could she say anything to her. That man who rejected her, went away leaving her shattered. The man for whom she had shut herself away from the world for God knows how many months. After counseling and with her mother's undying love and support she had started leading a normal life. The person for whom she left her mother and her home, so that she could forget those painful memories.

But destiny had planned something else for this girl. That is why almost after 6 years, that man was standing few benches away from her. Suddenly Shikha's nudge broke Geet's reverie. Shikha whispered teasingly, "From now only you are daydreaming?" and chuckled. Geet remained silent and her friend immediately understood that there was something more to this silence.

The man smiled at the students and the said, "Welcome everyone. I am Maan Singh Khurana and I am also the head of the English dept." There was a sudden whispering and all looked excited except Geet, who looked tensed. She avoided looking at him and kept her eyes fixed on the desk. "Ok ok. Please calm down as I need to tell you certain things". said Maan to the students. The room was immediately quite. He went on speaking while Geet was not at all listening to him. Her eyes were becoming moist but she tried to hold back the tears. Maan noticed her but said nothing. He thought he recognized her but was not sure whether his guess was correct.He did not see her almost for 6years and people's face do change a little within this time span.

As the class was dismissed Geet rushed out of the room leaving Shikha stunned. Before she could follow her, Maan called her, "Excuse me. Why did that lady rush away like that?" Shikha had no answer to this question she fumbled and then said, "Umm..sir even I do not know the reason". Maan asked cautiously, "What was her name?" Shikha answered, "Geet.Geet Handa". Saying this Shikha went out leaving Maan thoughtful, then he said to himself, "No wonder she was behaving like that".

Part 2

Geet walked aimlessly, she was dumbfounded. Her mind was blank. "The person who's face I did not want to see again was in front of me!" she muttered as she walked with a slow pace.Her eyes were swollen with tears,but still they did not stop rolling down her cheeks. She did not even bother to look at the people who looked at her. She wanted to shout,to cry loudly.She wanted to go to her mom and comfort herself.

On the other hand, Maan went looking for Geet. "God knows where she is? I hope she won't do anything wrong". He thought as his eyes scanned the crowd. "How to tell her that I was wrong,that I regret my decision and have been looking for her since I realized my mistake?Please God help me." He wanted to find Geet once again and tell her everything.As he was going, one of his colleague came in front of him and he stopped. "Hey Maan what are you up to?Looking for someone?" The guy winked. At that moment Maan felt like breaking his jaws but he only said,"Yes." and made his way without listening another word from him.

Geet was standing on a deserted corridor,her tears were unstoppable.All the painful memories gushed out.she cried inconsolably. 'Stop it Geet!",she chided herself but it seemed that today nothing could stop her tears.She remembered how when she used to feel sad Maan would come there like an angel and would wipe away her tears.angel!Huh!he was a devil in disguise,thought Geet. Her cheeks were red with anger and pain.Suddenly she heard footsteps behind her."Oh God!maybe Shikha has come", Geet thought and felt tensed. "She might have been looking for me,I must not show my tears in front of her, otherwise she will start shooting dozens of questions at me." She hastily wiped her tears and turned to go and was alarmed to find Maan standing there!

Geet was flabbergast.He was standing and smiling. Geet felt her knees go weak.She lowered her eyes and muttered,"How did he know I am here?" Maan came forward and replied,"Just like I came to know where you were when you were a kid". She looked up at him and glared.He quickly said,"Ok Ok when you were a teenager.Happy?" Geet still did not stop glaring at him but he answered her by giving a pleasant smile.

"What are you doing here?" asked Geet. "Oh Lord,I should have asked this question,Ok when you have already done that then will you kindly provide the answer for it". Anshuman said and grinned. "That's none of your business, Sir". Geet said brusquely and was about to go when Maan asked with seriousness,"Why were you crying Geet?"

Geet stopped, she clenched her fist and looked at Maan. Then said in a quavering voice,"You will know that better". Maan came closer and Geet stepped back.He could see the tension build up on her face.He moved back and replied,"What's this Geet,you think I am a fortune teller or something.How will I know why are you crying like a nursery kid. Are you missing someone?"

Geet looked at him with astonishment.Geet thought with disgust,"Its so difficult to get rid of me". She finally said nothing and ran from there but could feel Maan's eyes on her.He stood there for a while, then sighed,"She still hasn't changed. She is still a kid". He said to himself and smiled.

Part 3

It was beautiful evening. Geet went out of the room,her mind was still in turmoil.She couldn't get over the incident that took place in the morning. She sat on one of the chairs kept in the veranda and sighed,then asked herself,"Do I still love him?" But the word uttered were audible enough for Shikha. "Love whom?" she asked with excitement. Geet was startled."Oh hello am asking a question?" Shikha said while taking the opposite seat."I...ummm..love no...no one." Geet stammered and replied then gave a wry smile.

Shikha guessed that it was still not the right time to ask this question.She diverted the topic and said with forced enthusiasm ,"Leave it. Hey I was thinking of going for shopping tomorrow.Will you come with me?" Geet refused and went inside while Shikha looked on.

Next morning Geet seemed to have no hurry to reach university.Shikha was unhappy as well.She again tried to be cheerful,"What's this Geet?you are slower than a turtle.Yesterday you had almost dragged me out of the house.What's the matter sweetie?" Geet smiled and said,"Nothing, actually am not well today so_" before she could finish her sentence Shikha hastily went near her and asked with concern,"Hey.what has happened to you?won't you share your pain with your friend?" Geet's replied with a quavering voice,"Even I don't know what's going on.What will tell you." saying this she made for the door. Shikha thought,"you have to say Geet.I know something is troubling you and its related with that professor."

The duo reached University. Geet walked slowly and she looked quite nervous. Shikha said nothing.They reached the class and took their respective seats.The students were chattering away.Shikha also started talking to some girls sitting beside her. Geet remained silent. Then one girl sitting beside Geet said with a friendly tone,"Hi.My name is Pinky.It seems that we both are alone in this class and I am bored so can we be friends." Geet smiled and said,"Yeah we can but I have one friend here." indicating Shikha she said,"This is Shikha."

After this introductory session the trio started chatting.For the time being Geet forgot about her worrie and came back to her ownself.Seeing Geet cheerful Shikha felt happy. But the happiness did not last anymore as MSK entered the class.Pinky whispered,"Yaar I fell flat for him from the very first day.How will I concentrate on my studies if he teaches?He is so handsome." Geet smiled sardonically and said to herself,"Pinky does know the face behind this mask of handsomeness."

Maan greeted everyone.His eyes kept wandering till it rested on Geet's face.He smiled slightly but Geet did not smile back.Shikha nudged her friend with her elbow and said,"My God!He was smiling at you." and winked at her. Geet glared but Shikha didn't take any notice of it.

After the class ended Geet heaved a sigh of relief.The girl sitting beside Shikha said," Uff. I just kept looking at him did not even listen to what he was teaching." Pinky agreed.This angered Geet and she left them.The girls were confused and Shikha was again worried.

Geet walked fast but aimlessly and unfortunately collided with Maan. He looked at her with concern but Geet was irritated with himself as well as with herself. Maan looked around and saw few pairs of eyes were looking at them curiously.He controlled the situation and said with fake seriousness,"Please walk properly.Keep your mind in the present surrounding." He did not say any further and walked leaving Geet perplexed.

congrats...
nice updates...
at first maan doesnt recognize geet...
so maan broke geet's heart in past n after that geet shut herself off...
now maan back again in geet's life errr college...
maan realized after breaking her heart he regretted his decision..
loved it...
