Negative Stereotypes of Muslims

My family and I watch Kasam Se regulalry and we quite like it. But the recent episodes have distressed us quite very much. First of all, the lack of any positive depiction of muslims is appalling. But recently, they have started depicting muslims as terroritsts. The thing is, terrorists exist in all forms and follow all kinds of religions. It just shows insentivity and bigotry on the part of the creative heads of the show, that in order to get highier ratings, they are willing to play on people's fears and prejudices. I think the creative heads have more responsibility to use their audience to dispell stereoptypes and prejudices of people, not to promote them. I think i have reached the end of my rope here with this sort of prejudice. Indian shows feed off of prejudices, whether it is against women, children, or in this case, muslims.

i agree with what you're saying...this is not the first time this has happened in serials....unfortunately it keeps happening again and again. Why can't they just show random people as terrorists i.e. not belonging to a particular religion or race? I dont think that's too hard to show..but again the stupid creatives don't have the brains to think about something positive...i guess its asking too much from them 😡 !!

Although I'm a Hindu, I have to agree with the sentiments expressed in the posts above.

Extremists and terrorists do exist almost all of the established faiths and religions... but in each case, such people go against anything that their faith promotes.

All religions promote kindness, forgiveness, unity and peace. I think that the terrorists on KS should not have been identified with any faith - at the end of the day, terrorists are a sick and lost bunch of people who really do not have any religion or faith.

God bless.

Yes, you are absolutely right about this, I think they should include people from other religions and not portray muslims in the negative stereotypes. We have enough of that happening in the world all ready without it happening in KS.

Agree with your sentiments.

I am a Muslim and I am very offended and HURT. It almost seems like KS is saying, Muslims = Terrorists. I am not a terrorist and neither are most of the Muslims. The handful of people who does atrocious acts of terrorisms does not belong to or believe in any faith. The inherent messages of all faiths (including ISLAM) are tolerance, understanding and acceptance.

SONIA.

I can understand the feeling. I know they do it all the time. Like in hindi movies, they always showed christian men as drunkards and women as dancers and callgirls.
