The Kapoor family on Koffee

The Kapoor family is the most influential film dynasty in Indian cinema! Five generations of the family have either acted in, produced or directed films and have had a major impact on Indian films. Undoubtedly, the Kapoor khandaan is the first family of filmdom. Watch the children of the Royal Raj- Randhir, Rishi, Rajiv and Reema accompanied by the gorgeous Neetu Singh in a very exciting and fun-filled episode of Koffee with Karan, this Sunday evening, May 13th at 9 pm. on Star One and Star World.

In this hilarious episode, the brothers talk about the origin of their nicknames- 'Dabboo, Chintu and Chimpu'- something they say, very few people know about! Randhir shares with Karan why he chose to name his daughters Lolo and Bebo while Rishi confesses that he hates his nickname and that's the reason he never gave any pet names to his kids! Randhir and Rishi talk about how they have always bullied Rajiv all their life and they continue to rib him all through the show, much to Karan's amusement. The brother's laugh about the fact that they failed in school and that the whole family was terrible in academics! The evergreen couple, Rishi and Neetu chat about how nervous they are about their son Ranbir's debut this year and they hope their son lives up to the Kapoor tradition. Nervous as hell, in her first ever television interview, Reema talks about acting in Rajiv's home videos with Anil Kapoor and Neetu when she was younger and when they enacted Silsila.

But what really brings the house down is the rapid fire round! In their typical trademark style, the Kapoor brothers have everyone rolling on the floor with their witty answers to Karan's clever questions! What nickname does Randhir think would be ideal for Shahid Kapur? If Neetu wrote a tell-all book, what would Rishi be most worried about? If all three brothers were in Big Brother, who according to Rishi, would last the longest? What would Rajiv do, if he was the coach of the Indian cricket team? Who would be the last person in the family he would call if he was kidnapped? Who takes the hamper home? Watch out as Neetu is the unbiased judge in this episode! Will she present the hamper to her husband or to her best buddy Chimpu or to her eldest brother-in-law Randhir?

Excerpts from the interview :

What I see is a tremendous bond between each member of your family. How was your equation? You were the older brother (to Randhir) and then it was you (to Rishi) after that!

Randhir: We are all friends first! I am also friends with my uncles. My dad started this. My dad used to be my best friend. I used to drink with him and that was cool with him and he told me to do it in limits.

And have you listened to that?

Randhir: Sometimes!

Rishi: You know… we're like elephants. We all huddle together. You know… one after the other. So even my uncles… they're very moderate. They're very cool about the whole thing… the whole family.

Randhir: Shammi uncle, Shashi uncle… They're our great buddies. We're one big fat family! We're from the healthier side of the world. Hum log zara hare bhare hain! Shining India! We represent Shining India jahan sab log khate aur peetein hain!

But I've heard some horrible things about what you did to poor Chimpu. That you'll use to bully him and beat him up during the school ride days!

Randhir: Oh that's a brotherly form of affection. Everyone thinks we brothers are fighting but we're not fighting…. We are just joking with each other. Hum log ka zara volume ooncha hain… we speak a little high tone.

Rajiv: I still get bullied! Well, being the youngest, having an age gap of 15 years there and 10 years here, whatever you do… whatever you say is always looked down on and never taken seriously until and unless you put your foot down and make a serious point, a serious view of it then a second thought is given to it. So one has to bear the brunt… one can't help it!

What's it like being with these three men?

Neetu: They're all my favorite. Rajiv's my best buddy, I love spending time with Randhir, and this is my husband so I feel at home.

What do you have to say about Reema?

Randhir: She's my sweetheart… our…sweetheart!

Rishi: We have two sisters. One is in Delhi and not here with us today, and this one is the younger one, and this is the one who's been constantly fighting with me all through but she's lovely, genuine and warm and I hope she's not hearing this

Has it been wonderful? Were you accepted easily by all the members of the family?

Neetu : I was! But I was very nervous when I entered their household because they were so loud. They talk so much. It was like watching a tennis match. I'd keep turning from left-to-right, right -to- left, but they were very carefree. I was 22 when I got married. They all used to talk together at the same time.

Are you happy to be on the show?

Reema: Yes, I'm very happy to be on the show. I'm very nervous and want to tell you that once I'd told you…. "Karan mujhe bhi picture mein lena. And you told me,"Sure Reema sure! Shah Rukh ki jo maa hai picture mein unka dehaant ho gaya hai…Unke upar gale mein mala hogi, unki photo lagegi… That is you!" But I made it! (Claps)

Randhir: Now do you believe she's part of the Kapoor circus…. Thank God Manoj Jain has taken her away from us.
