TV stars are adjusting their shooting schedules to vote

Saloni Bhatia,TNN | Apr 9, 2014, 12.00 AM IST

It's impossible for anyone to stay away from the election buzz and the multiple campaigns urging people to vote, and TV actors are no exceptions. While some of them have already applied for leaves to go to their home towns to vote, others are asking for a few hours off on the day to go to the polling booths.

A social obligation While you might not be interested in politics, you should still vote, says Shashank Vyas, one of the lead actors of Balika Vadhu. "It's a social obligation and a duty to cast your vote. I don't understand why people crib about standing in queues or the heat when they have to go to the polling booth. These are the same people who will brave the heat if they have to watch a cricket match in a stadium. Elections happen once in five years and people ought to understand their responsibility towards the country. I will be taking time off from my shoot to vote on April 24, the day Mumbai goes to polls," he says.

Democracy is about people communicating with people and from that conversation ... creating a healthy reality that works for them in a better way !!! So every one of us has to vote and elect a healthy government to govern the country in an efficient way !

Do we really think just voting for a candidate is enough? Are we being naive to expect them to do their job and get it done? I think intermittent checks are needed in a democratic form of government !

For that... yes ...voting is a social obligation for every responsible citizen including TV Celebrities !

Very good social message from Shashank !
