As per Hindu rituals the "Saat Phere" or the seven vows are actually taken by a man to protect his wife's honour. That is Dharma. As per Mahabharat even stalwarts like Bheeshm or Dronacharya or Kripacharya didnt protest during this despicable incident...so in the true sense can they actually be called "Gurus". Many excuses can be put forth like...Bheeshm had vowed to protect the throne of Hastinapur...so on and so forth...but does that actually mean that you will be a silent spectator to such a shameful act...where somebody is trying to disrobe a woman (forget about all the relations)...its pathetic and disgusting

Hi Priya, i am new to this forum.
But yes, this question is haunting me too and trust me i am not able to sleep properly since the dice game began since i know the story.
How on earth can everyone sit and watch such shameful act in name of rules for game.
How could Bhisma not stop it. Hw could have if he wanted. How could he be quiet when his putravadhu's respect is at stake.
When Draupadi was insulted when she comes to Hastinapur for the first time. Arjuna takes his weapon. so would they not say he is not wrong in doing so, as he was protecting the putravadhu of hastinapur.
How could vidur just see and not speak.
How on earth can 5 brave husband who could get world down sit and watch thier wife dragged and even disrobe.
If Yudi is quiet, how could Arjuna/bheema and others see it. what Dharma is it see thier wife., forget wife any women being dishonoured to such a level.
Isnt seeing Adharm and not doing anything a bigger Adharma
I feel in this instance, yudi was selfish. He only thought about his words and his image and not about Draupadi. He could have broken his promise or rules for that game and did penance later.

@Joja- thanks for detailed comment. ..there are many characters in this show which inspires and teaches us in different ways... some with their wrong doings teach us what not to do...some with their right path teaches us what is right to do... I agree draupadi's life itself is troubled so much.. you cant help but empathise with that woman .. and respect her for what she was ..n how she stood up for her honor..
most of questions today that we wanted to ask yudhistir were asked by draupadi today itself.. nothing cud justify the silence of righteous ones in this episode... they all were wrong... and indeed paid price for it...

Enjoyed the discussion here.

The MB is a work of genius and should make its readers reflect on the incidents and characters mentioned. It provides a good source of debate on what is dharma and priorities when duties clash.

Riti,

Started watching this serial recently. But loved Drapudai and was moved so much by the character, i watched all the episodes from her entry.

I have heard, read and even seen Mahabahart serial (old one).,was very much aware of the story. But after watching this new Mahabharat, I was so much moved by DraupadiShe had to go through so much of pain whoel through her life.

First her father not accepting her as she was a girl.

How painful would it have been to marry 5 men.

What she must have undergone we can even imagine.

Her sacrifice, her will her courage.. salute this women.

My hear went during the scene when Kunti asks her son to share.

when Arjun asks her to marry Yudi.. the questions she asks

The conversation between Krihsna and herself just before marriage.

She is not sure if its right or wrong. She just wanted to her from Govind, that she is right.

During this whole stuff, everyone were thinking about themself.. I mean pandavas about them, brothers, mom, kingdom and family. Not about her?

How on earth can a women marry 5 brothers?

I was so much moved during her marriage and again when Arjun comes to Indraprast with his new wife subadra.

Can anyone imagine what she would have underwent. Yes during those days, Kings used to marry many due to political reasons. But this case is different.

I didnt sleep for a coupelof days thinking about real Draupdai, her life and all the pain she had to takeBut, in this serial, I like the chemistry between Arjun and Draupadi. Their eyes speak tons and just love to watch it.

welll written...👏👏...no1 cn e1 imagine hw much c went through frm diff-2 phases of lyf...😭🤢

so true... even after 5000 yrs, people have not changed at all... kanun andha hai just like dhritrashtra... police who are able to stop all these but they are vivash just like bhishma and drona... police have pressure by currupt and powerful politician like duryodhan and dusashan... we people like pandav... humare samne humari ladkiyon ko kuchla jata hai just like draupadi... cant do anything... same story repeats again and again... yug yug se chali arahi hai ye pratha...
there is only one diffrence for us right now there is no krishna right now...

when media interfere in the matter, and preading the news on tv and newspaper...then there is all type od candle march and other thing happend just like mahabharat war... and sarkar badal jati hai...

Nice to meet you here... indeed the episode had effect on me as well...coz i very rarely make a topic here...but this one i knew..i had to..coz in a way..what draupadi went thru..many can empathise...and most importantly she fought ..for her dignity...
hopefully we will meet often at this place...😊

Hiii😃

Mahabharat for me is not a show tbh...i used to watch the old one and have watched it so many times and even the new one is so good...Mahabharat is the ultimate lesson of life. If something is not there in Mahabharat, it is not anywhere else in this world. A maha-kavya. I know some pple dispute MB saying it is a mere fiction. I believe it happened. And even if it was a fiction, salute to the person who wrote all this. There is absolutely nothing like MB. And Draupadi is one character that holds it together till the end. A woman of substance. She raised questions when no one dared speak against elders. She had her own mind, her independence, her power and her love. And for all this, she also used to get into trouble coz men had to nurture their broken and wounded egos. Yet she walked it through the end, with her head held high. They wanted to disgrace her- Now after thousands of years, we still love her.

These days the episodes are so charged and I forget where I am when watching them.

Draupadi- Pooja Sharma. This girl is GOOD!!!! Infact, VERY GOOD. Excellent!!!
