there are certain rules and regulations set by Krishna which everyone has to follow to make their life successful, not following that means we are violating it , when we violate the rules we are doing it for own gain and sense gratification(Cause) for which thre will be an definite effect, but if we realize that we have violated the rule and surrender unto krishna, he will definitely help us. krishna is not simply seeing all the wrong happenings , the rules and regulations and cause and effect will answer the wrong doers..

its good to have devotion to God.. but we cant depend on God everywhere.. coz ultimately even Mahabharat was fought by pandavas not Lord Krishna... He is there ..but ultimately battle of life ..or battle between good or evil has to be fought by us alone...coz its our battle...He can provide us a way...but we have to do it in the end...

Only devotion wont change things...effort is required to make his teachings work..

This episode of Mahabharata has always been shameful and disgusting. A woman who has been put forth by her husband as a bait in a dice game...followed by an attempt to disrobe her by her brother in law in front of her 5 able husbands...father-in-law...grandfather...and all seniors. It brings tears to my eyes...seeing the ordeal she had to face. Nothing in the entire universe can justify this animosity.
I have never understood "Dharma"...the most important "Dharma" of a husband is to protect his wife's honour...so why is Yudhisthir called "Dharmaraj"...anyways I am too ignorant to question philosophy...but I really dont understand it.

Hey priya...long time.. very well said dear...totally agreed .. i cudnt understand silence of many people here .. be it pandavas..or even Bheeshma...

I understand your point . But can punishment for violation of rules and regulations be this heinous ?? Suppose I follow traffic rules but the other one is not then also there chances of accident. So even if one follows rules n regulations but other someone doesnot n forces himself upon her , what do we do then ?? Suppose I committed n I am guilty about it n tried to correct it too , do then also I get punished ???

Those who are supposed to help you torment you even more ...

Saddest part is those people who are ready to cut anyone or get cut themselves in the name of sanskriti, parampara and purana , so conviently forget this MAHABHARAT.
And trust me history will repeat itself ...

Mahabharat does teach us a lot of things...one of them being how when woman's honor is at stake...there is destruction in society... it is wishful thinking though that people will realise this ultimate truth of the epic itself...

Hi...not very regular to IF nowadays. This question has been haunting me ever since I actually understood the meaning of this shameful episode. As per Hindu rituals the "Saat Phere" or the seven vows are actually taken by a man to protect his wife's honour. That is Dharma. As per Mahabharat even stalwarts like Bheeshm or Dronacharya or Kripacharya didnt protest during this despicable incident...so in the true sense can they actually be called "Gurus". Many excuses can be put forth like...Bheeshm had vowed to protect the throne of Hastinapur...so on and so forth...but does that actually mean that you will be a silent spectator to such a shameful act...where somebody is trying to disrobe a woman (forget about all the relations)...its pathetic and disgusting

I don't consider written rules or parampara as dharma.but in mb dharma had become rigid and was defined by those rules and paramparas.that's why social conduct too went downhill. humans or dominant race/caste always frame rules and traditions as per their benefit and from there for others life becomes like hell

Well said 👏 ...I avoid watching and reading about this sad and ridiculous chapter of Mahabharata because it depresses me a lot ! but nothing has changed, be it 3139 BC or 21st century, animals like Duryodhan, Dushasan and Shakuni are roaming freely with no one trying hard to stop and punish them ! But women should stand again with the same dignity with which Draupadi stood and became a symbol of women power. Hats off to that lady and to all of those who were like her but remained anonymous 👍🏼
