The Bachchans are the biggest camp in Bollywood

By Aparajita Ghosh

After Abhishek Bachchan 's marriage to Aishwarya Rai , the Bachchans have become the biggest camp in Bollywood.

Just two years back, when Abhishek's acting career was in tatters, and Jaya Bachchan was not doing films, it was only Amitabh Bachchan who was still going strong in his early sixties.

And then fortune swung in Abhishek's favour after the release of Dhoom and Yuva . While the former brought him box-office success, the latter showcased his acting talent.

Today Abhishek has a string of successful movies under his belt and was even voted Asia's Sexiest Man by a magazine last year. And with Amitabh Bachchan giving some of his best performances in the recent years, the name of the Bachchan clan has been steadily on the rise.

If there was any void, that has now been filled with the inclusion of Aishwarya Rai into the Bachchan family.

On the other hand, Jaya Bachchan is returning to films with Rituparno Ghosh's Sunglass and Yash Raj banner's Laaga Chunari Mein Daag .

With all the four members of the Bachchan family now active in films, the quartet make the most powerful camp in Hindi film industry.

Even Shah Rukh Khan 's camp (comprising of Farah Khan and Karan Johar ) does not come close to the Bachchans.

The popular sentiment among trade analysts is that the market value of the Bachchans has increased after Aishwarya's marriage to Abhishek. But it is not one-way gain. Even Ash has benefited a great deal by becoming a part of the Bachchan household.

Today, filmmakers are hoping to cash in on the unique ensemble of the Bachchans. Ram Gopal Varma has already announced his Sarkar 2 with Amitabh, Abhishek and Aishwarya.

Now, J P Dutta is also learnt to be thinking of signing the trio for his period film Aakhri Mughal .

While the Bachchan name is at an all time high, the Khans of Bollywood, on the other hand, seem to be uniting. Recently, SRK, Salman Khan and Saif Ali Khan shot together for a song for SRK's film Om Shanti Om . The three Khans also came together for a party hosted by SRK.

But there is still no other camp in Bollywood that comes close to giving competition to the Bachchans. The three ABs remain undisputed.

haha.. just 3 AB's & they're the biggest camp in bollywood? hilarious.🤣

come on yaar.. SRK is far by the most popular star in bollywood. his sheer star power is unmatchable so far. three AB are no match for SRK. and he's 1 SRK not 3. the advantage in numbers clearly doesn't work here.😉 just my humble opinion.😊

3 people and the biggest camp??????? 😕

Abhi, Ash, Amitabh & Jaya didn't win any major awards last year so what makes them so powerful...just the name doesn't count 😆 Hrithik & SRK are much bigger stars, even Sanjay, Aamir, Sallu, Saif and Ajay are no pushovers...the media needs to get their facts straight and stop posting false reports 😡

Like the joke about Bachchans being the first family 😆 just 3 people (now 4) and the first family??? 😕 when the Kapoor's have been around since the 1930's and are still around and kicking, even Dharmendra came before Amitabh and has many hits and his sons and now daughter are in the movies too along with Hema who is better than Jaya in every aspect (acting/looks) ...then shouldn't they be the first families??? 😕

not to offend anyone but i think it's quite unfair the Bachchans are given so much false praise when there are other better/talented families out there😳

i know yaar. but SRK is more popular than him though he's about 2 decades younger than him. i think SRK has the advantage over the AB family, aishwarya included or not.😊

completely true, although I'm no fan of Shah Rukh he's by far the most popular and powerful bollywood actor in India and the world. does the writer even know the kind of crowd Shah Rukh attracts.

The facts remain-

-Big B has been a lot longer in the indusrty than SRK
-3 against 1...shows some competition 😆

...still,"SRK remains the biggest star of the planet" as quoted by the New York Times today 😃

I dont get why the media feels the need to make such comparisons. It doesnt result in anything being achieved.I also think its in any industry's interest to actually show a united front- be it bollywood or hollywood; at the end of the day its entertainment 'on screen' that filmgoers want 😊
