Chapter 4:
It was the next morning and both Zain and Aliya were awake and ready for their new beginning. This was very important for them because now was a time when they had to start fresh with their living relationship and everything that comes along with it. Zain was taking a shower while Aliya fixed up the room. Neither of them had spoken to each other about the night before. Something's were better left unspoken.
Aliya finished up cleaning the room and turned around to put her clothes into her closet. Turning around her body smashed into a soaking wet Zain. She froze breathing in his wet fresh skin. His hands were around her arms. They slowly began part from another. Aliya's hair was stuck with his wet skin. As they parted, they looked into each other's eyes, there was something that sparked in them, but neither of them knew what exactly it was. Their cold breathes fanned each other's necks. Although Zain wasn't wearing a shirt, he still felt really hot, maybe because it was he was so close to Aliya or maybe because he was near her. Realizing their position, they quickly sperated from each other.
"Uh, I'm sorry. I didn't um see you there" Aliya was stumbling upon her words. She didn't mean to hit into him, but nor was she complaining.
"Yeah that's fine. Did you make breakfast?"
"There was no food to make grocery to make breakfast."
"Oh. Okay, you take the car and buy some while I try calling some places to see if I can get a part time job for now."
"Alright." Aliya was still a bit mentally tired from yesterdays turn of events. As much as she just wanted to just sit in her room and relax while someone else do the house chores, she knew that this was reality. She took the car keys and left the farm house to do some groceries.
*An hour and a half later*
Aliya had returned from the closest bazaar with all the food supplies and regular house needs in several bags. She struggled to bring all the bags to the kitchen but managed. Zain seemed to be on the phone with an agency. As he finished up his call, Aliya was well into setting up breakfast. Today it was just simple cereal. It was too late start cooking a well made breakfast.
Zain came to the dining table and the both sat down pouring a healthy cereal with milk and some fruits. "I called some agencies and since I had some good experience from dads management, they called me in for work just by tomorrow. So I will be using the car, as it is far, and working till 6 pm for now on. A bit late, but we will need the income." He said it quite seriously for himself. He was more of a chill person so this was definitely a change. Aliya swallowed the food in her mouth.
"That's great Zain." Aliya knew she wanted to ask him something, but she knew how he was going to act, not pretty. Still she asked; "Are you sure with this Zain. Are you sure you will be able to work so soon. I mean you should probably be resting and -"
"- No Aliya. I am fine." He took his last spoonful of cereal and got up. "I have to go buy a new laptop. I will take the car and be back soon."
"I can drive you," Aliya offered.
"Its fine. I feel better today." He took a deep breath in and tried not to sound so rude. "Thank you though." He didn't once look at her, just left with his keys.
After cleaning up and sorting things around their 'new' house, Aliya received a call from Aayat.
"Hey Aayat! How are you?"
"I am good. You tell me how are you?" Aliya was tempted to tell her sister everything, but she knew it wouldn't be wise to give her sister and parents more stress when they already have so much on their own hands.
"Fine." She tried to sound not so mono tone.
"I wanted to ask you for a favor. It is a lot to ask for, but I have no one else to ask."
"Aayat, you can ask me anything. Don't worry." Aayat paused and took a deep breath in.
"Aliya we need some money. With the house about to be taken away in a couple of days, and no way to get fast money, I am asking for just some money to borrow. We can return it to you guys as soon as we get the money. But we really need it." How was Aliya supposed to respond. Zain and herself were already lacking money, and he went to spend so much on a new laptop. She couldn't even ask him with all this going on, but nor could she send her parents to the streets. "If you can't Aliya, its okay. I can try getting it somewhere - "
"No no Aayat. Don't you worry. I will send you the money as soon as possible. Just take care of ammi and abbu."
" Thank you so much! Okay, abbu is calling me, I will call you later." She hung up the phone. Aliya began to feel as though the weight of the world was over her. The pressure of everything was getting to her and her emotions. As it thunder stormed outside, she went out to join it. The storm inside was a perfect feel to the storm outside. In her white and yellow Anarkali, she went outside embrace the storm. Soaking wet, she sat on the grass as her clothes were now stuck to her body. She wanted to wrap her duppata around her but with her fail to have chance on her side, she left it inside on the chair for when she cleaning. Her clothes began to become transparent. She had no reason to care as she was miles away from society, in the backyard of the farm house, surrounded by flowers and a wooden fence.
Her emotions began to get the best of her and she poured out her tears. How on earth was she supposed to help Zain, help herself, help her sister and help her dear parent. She was helpless herself. She poured and poured her eyes out and felt torn apart from the inside. The storm roared, inside and out. Her world felt like it was tumbling upon her. She continued to cry until a warm hand was placed on her shoulder.
"Aliya?" Aliya's crying halted. She turned to look over her shoulder to see Zain standing staring down at her with concern and rage. "Why in the are you sitting in storm? You - " He noticed her red eyes and the tears that were distinct and still falling, but now more 'silently'. "Is everything ok." She looked down and cleared her tears. Zain lent a hand to help her up. Zain looked back at her pink-ish red-ish eyes. "Aliya." His voice saying her name made her feel weaker than she already was. " Tell me the truth. What's wrong?" Without being able to explain her crumbling life, or even to say a word, she gave up and crushed her soaking self into Zains chest. Zain was at a loss for words with the reaction of what had just happened. Without thinking any further he wrapped his arms around her soaking shivering body. He knew that there was no need in further words, his actions were enough.
