Amit Behl has tonsured his head!

The actor has been sporting a bald pate for the last couple of days and has been receiving compliments for his cool, summery look.

But it wasn't the weather that prompted him to snip off his tresses.

"For a long time, I've wanted to sport a different style. So instead of streaking or highlighting my hair, I decided to simply shave it off."

There was also a thanksgiving reason. "Ever since my son Nridev was born in March, I wanted to make an offering.

After his naming ceremony, I visited a temple and thought of shaving off my head. People go to places like Tirupati and get tonsured, I decided to do it here itself," he says.

Reality strikes

The actor is getting used to the fact that he does not need to shampoo/comb his hair any more.

"I've still not been able to overcome reaching out for a brush or a comb. Every time I am in front of a mirror, I want to comb my hair till reality strikes!" he laughs.

Continuity problems for his television shows have been solved by getting a wig made exactly the way his hair was. His Zee drama Mamta is taking a generation leap soon.

"I am no longer part of the show," he says. "I will have to be at least 85 years old in Mamta!"

As for as his Doordarshan show Kashmakash Zindagi Kay, he says that his character is currently not in the track.

Interestingly, Amit's bald look has also fetched him a role. "Soon after shaving my hair, I received a call for the Sony horror show Aahat.

I told them about my new look and that I was wearing a wig, but they loved my bald head and cast me without the wig! The episode will air this week."

He is also in talks for some crossover films, and feels his bald look will add to an international look required in the films.

Though he feels light and airy on his head, the only hitch is that every few days, he has to get himself shaved to avoid a stubble!
