I would've agree with you if it was the first time Chavi pull some stunt like this, but no she is the master of lies and deception, she is a great manipulator.
And this is not the first time Sandhya lectured her, which for surely didn't do no good, so why she will change now?
Yes, it was Chavi's bad luck favored her that Dilip's mom by chance heard and while she was talking to Sandhya Bhabo heard.
And for Dilip, he is getting married to the girl he loved and he is not a liar or manipulator, sidha sadha larka, and just fell for Chavi's manipulations, while at first he was trying to make Chavi understand, but failed, tried to keep peace in the wedding.
