Urmi's marriage was arranged to Samrat who is her bhabhi's cousin. Samrat is a very difficult person who has no respect for anybody. Trisha (Urmi's cousin) ran into Samrat without knowing he was Urmi's fiance and saw the negative side of him. She tried warning Urmi but Urmi's family convinced her otherwise. Samrat also finds out that Trisha interfered and challenges her that he will marry Urmi by hook or crook which he does. Samrat's best friend Ishaan supports Samrat Urmi reunion and covers up for Samrat thinking Urmi is good for Samrat. Right since the first day, Samrat's strange and arrogant behaviour is exposed to Urmi. His unromantic behaviour, his rudeness to his parents, older brother and Urmi's family becomes obvious. During their honeymoon they also bring Ishaan as he already had business trip in the same city. On the honeymoon, Samrat cheats on Urmi with a white woman and lies to Urmi that he was in the Casino with Ishaan. Ishaan finds out and after confronting Samrat, a big fight results in their friendship being over. Samrat does not tell the family why he broke up with Ishaan. Samrat's tantrums get worse as days go by and once he throws Urmi out of their bedroom because she went to visit her parents without his permission. Samrat's mother constantly creates misunderstandings between the couple as she wants Samrat to control Urmi (for no reason). Samrat also insults Trisha's parents when they come to visit Urmi before leaving to go home (different city) and later insults Urmi's family for stupid reasons. Samrat also had a sister who he broke relationship with because she married a man of her choice. Samrat also made sure none of his family had any relation with the sister. Samrat's family seem always scared of him as he always bullies them. Urmi accidently saved Samrat's sister from being raped (Urmi did not know this woman) and Samrat was unhappy about Urmi helping his sister. Samrat also forbid Urmi from going to celebrate her dad's birthday because Trisha would be there. He also instigated Urmi's dad to get rid of Trisha (who was to leave anyways to go to the hostel in few days). Later Urmi happened to help a woman who was being blamed for having an affair with a married man from the neighborhood. Urmi questioned why blame only the other woman and not the married man who had a responsibility towards his marriage. Samrat finds out and gets angry. Urmi by now knows that Samrat lied to her about the honeymoon (casino) and in anger he argues that a man should be able to have extra marital affairs without being questioned by his wife. Urmi argues why a man can go scott free but a woman would be blamed in the same situation. Samrat blows up and slaps Urmi a few times. Urmi decides to leave as she has had enough of mental and now physical abuse.
