There will be the usaul analysis that heroine orientanted films are gaining more acceptance today after Queen but nothing has really changed for these type of films. Just like Kahaani or English Vinglish changed nothing..

The problem for these type of films is opening. The opening of Kahaani, English Vinglish and now Queen have been very low and they have scored on content so this makes not about female orientated films being accepted but the content of these films working which can even havpen with a childrens film or a film with no hero or heroine.

The films which are dominated by the female character hae done well in the past also but apart from a couple of rare occasiuons the opening has never been there and this is what matters as it limits the risk of the maker. When or if the initials start coming for heroine orientated films that will be the time to say they have come into their own has the moviegoers will giving them a fair chance from the word go.

I disagree..I think it does.
If it weren't for the success of Kahaani and EV..filmmakers wouldn't do films like Queen.

Boxoffice India should give credit were it's due..saying it doesn't make any difference is not accurate.

I think the article is trying to say there is still a long way to go till female orientated films become as big as those which r male orientated. Because its true that female orientated films are doing well, but their first day openings are much lower.

I don't think ONE particular movie, will make all the difference, but it is definitely a part of the movement that eventually will.

We went from having female centric films every couple of years, to one a year, to now having a couple of films a year which have female-centric films. Slowly but surely it is getting there. At least audiences are watching these movies and these movies are earning their money back.

EV was just showcased in Korea, and hit big there, its now the highest grossing Bollywood movie in Korea. Im sure that stands for something.

So far in the year, we have everyone talking about the females and they great acting they have shown. Parineeti in HTP, Alia in Highway, Kangana in Queen...Its all about the, there is very little if not NO DISCUSSION on any of the actors so far in the year.

IMO, I think things will change within the next 5 years. You know change has happened when a brand like YRF will have to guts to make...lets say for example a Dhoom-4 with a female villain.

Flim should be the success at the end of that day! Besharam had a great opening but at the end it proved to be a disaster. Opening day doesn't decide the fate of the movie. If the content is good, it will work!
Queen, English vinglish, kahani, the dirty picture, no one killed Jessica were a success. I am sure if there will be more movies like these then very soon female oriented movies will start crossing 100 crs. They just need to make more good female centric movies.

Who knows, we may have our first 100-crore heroine-centric film this year, infact, it might be this week itself. Theres lots of hype for Ragini MMS 2 with those 2 huge hit songs and ofcourse Sunny Leone.

Although, im sure the reason for why everyone will be flocking to the theatre to watch this movie is obvious, but it still counts right?

Disagree. Like they say, little drops of water make the mighty ocean.
The majority of the audience is exposed to more than 95% masala films, so films like Queen are essentially training the audience. It is an absolute essential step towards making movies like these mainstream and not fringe.

Baby steps. If nothing, it'll encourage more filmmakers that have women oriented subjects to tell. Also you can make good female oriented movies for 10-15 crore so not a huge risk involved.
