Friends, to me the episode yesterday looked rather average. I suppose it was only to be expected as the real upheavals may hit the story this week and so yesterday was a sort of stage setter. None of the scenes really set the TV screen ablaze. None of the dialogues were spectacular either.
I want to recap what happened yesterday in brief, but I have added my comments to each scene to show that while the scenes themselves were mediocre, there was some important sanket for the future in all the scenes. I would love to have all your views to the comments I have put in.
THE SEQUENCE OF HAPPENINGS YESTERDAY:
A continuation of the dagger scene finds Atga safe - but a man from the Treasury dead!
As a continuation of the Friday scene at the polo match, after Ruq has made a good strike and Jalal is admiring it, he catches sight, it seems, of a man trying to throw a dagger at Atga. Jalal rides his horse like a bat out of hell and suddenly throws his own dagger at the Atga attacker. The two daggers are thrown almost simultaneously by Jalal and Atga's attacker, whereby for a moment, as Atga collapses to the ground, it looks like Jalal has killed Atga. JijiAnga swoons, the galleries of people are aghast and Jalal himself runs to Atga's help. Sharif for some reason is grinning with happiness.
Just then we see a glimpse of the Atga attacker himself sinking to the ground and dying thanks to Jalal's dagger thrown at him. Atga is carried over to the infirmary where the hakim fortunately declares him to have only a light wound and declares his chances of survival to be great. There is relief all round, but naturally Jalal is eager to know who that attacker was. Atga says it was a man previously working at the Treasury, whom Atga had sacked for fraudulent practices. He had probably tried to get back at Atga with this dagger. Seeing Atga incapacitated for a while, Jalal gives his security duties over to Maham to handle ... and decides to himself handle all further "tehkikaat" of the Treasury embezzlement matter that has been exercising him and Atga.
My comments on the scene:
Folks, I think this scene is very important in the continuing saga of Adham and his financial malpractices that are slowly but surely coming to light now. With the collapse of Atga, Jalal has had to take on the investigations of the financial frauds himself, which could mean that when Adham returns from Malwa, Jalal may be waiting for him to accost him with some truths he has found out.
Already Adham seems to have lost two sources of income - the dakus are no longer supplying him periodic money as their operations have been halted. Adham seems to have also been making money out of the slave trade which has been curtailed now by the new law. Further Pir Mohammmed is now heading the Malwa operation giving Adham less chance to squeeze out battle funds or battle spoils for himself.
So a rather financially-constrained Adham is likely to return from Malwa and start gunning for the Treasury to try and eke out more money fraudulently, which Jalal may well checkmate. The other development of putting Maham in charge of security has both immediate and long-reaching implications. In the immediate as we know, Maham gets to see the paigam from Sujamal and thus begins an anti-Jodha campaign with Jalal. But the larger implications of giving Maham the reins of security could mean that both the finance and security of the Sultanate are now in her hands.
Her own man Munim Khan seems to be in charge of the finances. And no doubt Maham, when she sees Adham return from Malwa, feeling very testy on account of funds shortage, will notice her son trying to put his hand in the till in cahoots with Munim Khan. Maham at this point may start abetting Adham actively by relaxing the security at the Treasury and enabling him to embezzle.
I have found one thing about Jalal ... it exasperates us when he starts handing over key portfolios to his enemies and it looks like he's being stupid in trusting the wrong people. But in fact, he seems to give his enemies long ropes with which to hang themselves. After the Atga attack scene yesterday the handover of security to Maham and the takeover over financial investigations himself seems to point to the impending downfall of both Adham and Maham. The motive to loot the Treasury and the power to get away with it through lax security are both in the hands of the mother-son duo.
This also ties in with Abhay's historical information that Jalal will replace Munim Khan at the Treasury with Atga the moment he smells a fish, and then Adham will actually kill Atga in fury when being denied the money he desperately wants to swindle. Both mother and son (Maham and Adham) will soon pay for their misdeeds with death. The time for Adham's death is almost right now as per the historical timeline. Maham apparently dies (from depression?) within 40 days of Adham dying.
One more thing: many of us on Friday saw the same scene in brief and saw Sharif grinning from ear to ear to see the attack of Atga. We assumed the attacker was his henchman. But now in hindsight it appears Sharif must have been grinning that Adham and Maham have missed a trick ... since they must have a hand in this attack since the attacker was a man from the Treasury. How much Sharif knows about Adham's money issues, his need to rob the Treasury and his mother's cover up of these embezzlements remains to be seen.
Moti goes to the mandir, Sujamal writes a paigam, Maham sniffs intrigue and Jalal can't read
Jodha was unable to go to the Ambe Ma mandir on the weekly aarti puja day, due to health reasons, and so she delegated the duties to Moti to go in her stead. When Moti went to the temple, she was unaware that a very restive Sujamal, in beggar disguise, was waiting desperately for Jodha. When he saw that Jodha had not come to the temple and Moti had come instead, Sujamal found it necessary to somehow send a message to Jodha to come and meet him urgently.
He needed to tell Jodha the truth somehow that he was neither to blame for the "peet ke peeche se war at Mewat" on Jalal's brothers, nor was he the jashn attacker of Jalal. He needed to tell Jodha about Mali and his secret conspirator who made a sauda with him. He needed to tell Jodha he had sent a warning paigam to Atga. He needed also to tell Jodha that Sharif has told lies to Jalal and implicated him as the jashn attacker. Sujamal did not know Sharif was the Mali-conspirator, but he could at least lay out the facts as he knew them to Jodha?
Thinking on his feet, Sujamal saw Moti with her eyes closed and deep into singing bhajans, when a thought struck. There was a packet of flowers (prasad) intended for Jodha on a thali near Moti. Sujamal quickly secreted the packet, unwrapped the outer leaf that was holding the flowers and proceeded to write a paigam to Jodha on that outer leaf, using haldi paste as ink. He then wrapped the leaf back to hold the flowers as before and placed this on Moti's thali - all without Moti knowing. It was thus that Moti found herself carrying back a message from Sujamal to Jodha without even having a whiff about it.
As Moti entered the palace gates however, Maham was stationed there. She had decided to inaugurate her new security duties via a thorough search-and-frisk job on every baandhi coming in or going out of the gates. When it came to Moti's turn to get her thali contents checked, poor Moti was not to know that Maham managed to read the full contents of the Sujamal paigam to Jodha written on the leaf, and as Moti stood aside unsuspectingly, Maham's mind was whirring with possibilities. There was no signature on the paigam, so who could this mystery person be who wanted Jodha to meet him in the middle of the night "for thesake of the old times at Amer"? It sounded like a man's words.
Maham wrapped back the flowers in the packet and told Moti to go and give it to Jodha ... but her mind was made up - she would leave no stone unturned to follow Jodha in the dead of the night for this secret assignation, and she would get to the bottom of this mystery!
In her room, getting the Prasad from Moti, Jodha read the paigam and was instantly aware that it must be from Sujamal. She was tempted to go and meet Sujamal at any cost seeing her brother sounding so anxious to clear his name and in urgent need of assistance. Moti forbade Jodha from angering Jalal by meeting Sujamal, his enemy, but Jodha was adamant.
Just then Jalal walked into Jodha's room almost as Jodha was saying to Moti "I will go, come what may ..." Jalal seemed to finish her sentence by saying "There's no need for that", which almost gave Jodha and Moti a heart attack wondering how much he had heard. Jodha quickly crumpled the leaf paigam and dropped it to the floor, and to her misfortune it caught Jalal's eye. He picked it up, and there was a moment's suspense that he may see the script on it or almost read it ... but then fortunately for Jodha (and us!) we saw Jalal did not even de-crease the leaf ... and in any case, he did not even know how to read! So he just put the crumpled leaf on a table nearby. Phew!
But he said something to Jodha that made her even more squirmy. He said "I've come here about Sujamal. I hear from Atga that Sujamal may still be at large in Agra. He may try to contact you, so better be alert ...". If Jodha needed a warning that Jalal wouln't like her assignation with Sujamal, this was it. But despite this dire warning of Jalal's the pull to meet her brother was intense ... and Jodha became doubly determined to meet with Sujamal if only to clear Jalal of the misconceptions about her brother being the enemy!
My comments on this scene:
It is still unclear to me whether Maham goes alone to the mandir to spy on the first meeting between Jodha and Sujamal there (as shown in the precap) and whether Maham takes Jalal along for this same first meeting - or whether Maham goes to see the first meeting and sees Jodha and Sujamal talking about a second meeting and then alerts Jalal to go and spot them on their second meeting behind the mandir?
The question arising in my mind is why should there have been a second meeting between Jodha and Sujamal at all? Does this mean that in the first meeting Sujamal laid out all the facts to Jodha, whereby both of them then planned to do jasoosi on the "real culprit" of the jashn attack (so as to clear Sujamal's name)? And was the second meeting between them planned as a catch up meeting to see what clues they had both progressed with on this jasoosi?
Despite a lot of forum-waasis fearing that Jalal will follow Jodha and there will be an MU between them, I am still of the firm belief, personally, that though this situation smacks of an MU, it will not be an MU. I have a feeling that Jalal will follow Jodha and come to know that Jodha is meeting none other than Sujamal. He may well hear what Sujamal is saying to Jodha and what Jodha is saying in return - that Sujamal must save her suhaag at any cost by helping apprehend the real culprit who could still be at large in the palace gunning for Jalal's life.
At this point I must say that I have read so many theories on the forum about what exactly Jalal will find out and do that I must put the "best ones" I have read here for everybody to scan through. The thing to be noted with all these theories is that almost everyone thinks that there will be some attempted kidnap of Jodha by Sharif, which could help bring Jalal and Sujamal closer ... and also Jalal and Jodha closer.
Theory 1: The MU theory:
Jalal will see Sujamal and Jodha together. He will be at some distance and cannot hear them. So he will misunderstand. Even if he knows it is Sujamal he will still misunderstand because he would feel that Jodha should not have met Sujamal. He will thus banish Jodha to Amer (i.e. send her back with her father).
(Some theories state that en route to Amer, Sharif may try to kidnap Jodha, when Jalal and Sujamal will come to her aid and save her). Later, as in the movie Jalal may come to know the truth and go and try to bring Jodha back). Sujamal may conveniently flee midway and so may Sharif. This will leave Jodha and Jalal alone to kiss and make up.
Theory 2: The non-MU theory:
Jalal will get close enough to hear what Sujamal and Jodha are talking. There will be no MU. The promo was a misleading promo. The tagline on Zee is also a misleading tagline. (It says "Kya Jodha ke Sujamal se milna kuch daraar paida karega Jodha aur Jalal ke beech mein?" or something to that effect.)
Jalal will hear Sujamal's side of the story and also hear Jodha's confessions that he must save the husband she loves. Thus Maham's sneaking will end up as a tain tain fiss. Sujamal may wear "stree vesh" to do jasoosi on the real culprit so as to exonerate his own name. And Jodha may help Jalal and Sujamal get a new respect for each other as Sharif gets nailed as the real cuprit, even if there's insufficient proof to jail him with.
One really mind-boggling version of this theory states that Jalal himself may aid Sujamal and Jodha in unearthing the culprit. It may be Jalal's idea that Sujamal should wear "stree vesh" and enter the harem to spy on Sujamal!
Either way this theory also supposes that eventually Sharif growing desperate after staring at the Jodha painting, will attempt a kidnap and here booth Jalal and Sujamal will join forces to prevent the kidnap.
Theory 3: Maham banishment to Delhi
This new theory seems to be reasonably interesting spoiler. It suggests that Jalal will not only get to know that Jodha is meeting Sujamal and then exonerate both of them after overhearing their discussions, but he will get very pissed with Maham for spreading gossip about Jodha's "extra-marital liaisons, and thus he may banish Maham to Delhi ...
... which may again act as one more sanket of the imminent downfall of Maham, and Adham too - for without Maham around to help him, Adham may soon hang himself on the Treasury loot situation.
Forum-waasis wishes:
The thing to note in all these theories is that forum waasis seem to have some clear likes and dislikes:
a. They do not want an actual kidnap to take place. This is because there will then always remain some daag on Jodha's virtue if it is seen that she spent some time alone with Sharif, albeit as a hostage. So there must be a kidnap attempt that is foiled rightaway by Jalal and Sujamal together.
b. The Jodha painting being lusted after by Sharif should come out and Sharif's lusting should be unmasked by Jalal. If Jalal gets a little possessive and passionate about Jodha as a result of competition from Sharif, all the better.
c. The Jodha love confession should come out as a result of all this fracas. The end result after all the tumult must be a confession and if possible with a hug!
d. Maham should be nearing the end of her downfall - as should Adham. Some ther TRP pulling lady villain can take Maham's place if possible, because Maham is causing viewer fatigue now.
e. Bakshi and Sharif should both be gone. Bakshi should not stay back and create more avenues for Sharif and herself to meddle in Agra or in Jodha's life. Bakshi is well hated. And so is Sharif.
A point here about history:
My good friends and guides on all matters of history - Abhay (predominantly) plus Sangeetha, Adiansr etc. - have all written numerous posts on the story possibilities around this timeline. One of these posts suggests that Jalal may have been instrumental in understanding Sujamal's point of view, and he even tried to convince Bharmal to give Sujamal some part of the Amer kingdom to rule independently and Bharmal also agreed. But unfortunately before this could be done, Sujamal died at the hands of an attack by Sharif.
If this is true, then that does suggest that there is less chance of an MU and Jalal actually starts understanding Sujamal and his angst in life and tries to help him.
Last scene: a strange DEK scene where the all the villains are put in charge of important issues
A final scene of the episode was the Diwan-e-Khas scene, where Jalal again reveals his penchant for putting the enemies in positions of power. He asks Sharif if there has been any luck in catching Sujamal, and Sharif says "Not yet!".
Maham then deigns to present to him three of her henchmen for some positions of power in the administration. All three of her minions look like her puppets so this gives us all a feeling that she is putting her pawns into all the high places and trying to play a deep game of saazishes and machinations At Agra.
Maham also ventures to suggest to Jalal that both his jashn attack and the attack on Atga seems likely to be connected. I wondered, when I heard this, whether Maham was deliberately feeding such stories to Jalal, trying hard to cover up the fact that the Atga attacker was Treasury man who may have given a scent of Adham's financial dealings, had he lived.
My comments on this scene:
Sharif was looking askance at Maham and her three new men and smelling intrigue there. Maham was looking at Sharif with a shady look too. Jalal at first looked stupid to me to be again putting his enemies in positions of power, but now I get a feeling that having too many enemies is also a good thing. If they are like Sharif and Adham/Maham, their mutual rivalries may may mean that they may at some stage double-cross each other - leaving less work for Jalal to do in unmasking them.
All in all the episode did set the stage for the big Jodha-Sujamal meeting which we can expect today, but in the meanwhile there were lots of sankets of the future - and lots of long rope being given in the hands of Sharif and Maham by Jalal by which we can enjoy the two hanging themselves soon.
Let's see what today brings. I believe still in the non-MU theory and that's what I want to happen! Yesterday's episode has not made me change my mind on this, and in fact it has made me all the more sure that there won't be an MU at all. Let's hope I am right!
