The burning agony of flesh and soul seared the screen today. The pain felt in her eyes, mirrored in his soul. She burnt her hands and he was on fire.
However hard Rudra tries, Paro remains unbent and undefeated. He has the stronger mind but she has the stronger will. He is headstrong and she is stubborn. Rudra always wins and Paro doesn't believe in defeat. He wont let her step away and she wont take a step with him. She is ready to set fire to herself and he is ready to absorb all her heat. She doesn't want his name near her and he has already branded her. She doesn't want his love and he wants only her hate. In this battle of wills, the clash of the titans, it is so easy to forget the rights and the wrongs of the story.
Paro burnt her hands, by her own will. And in essence this is what this saga is all about. She decides to side with the wrong, (unknown to her, innocently) and in the process ends up burning her hands, her life, her destiny. The heat of their wrong doings, burning down Paro's world to ashes. The fire of evil brings devastation to her, burning her hands, her future. She in a way is responsible for her burnt out existence, her blind faith eventually leading to the moment when she knowingly puts her hands on the fire.
And then Rudra enters, in her life, in her destiny, and the first thing he does is removes her from the fire, and eases her pain. Basically, he is there to remove the heat from her life, to take the burn out of her destiny. He quickly extinguishes the fire, and drags her away from harm's way. Paro unwilling to comply, yet Rudra pulling and pushing her to safety. Isn't that precisely what he did, all her protests fell on deaf ears, as Rudra Pratap Ranwat dragged her to a fortress of security, where no fire could touch her. And then he washes her hands, softly. tenderly, sensing her pain, her discomfort. He feels her agony, his mind, his body, his soul hurts from her pain too. It's not that he does not understand or care, its just that circumstances prevailing, he cannot give in.
He ends up putting the mehndi on her palms, in front of the whole world. Mehndi, a symbol of love and suhaag, of weddings and rituals, of good fortune and shagun, a cool herb that brings out beautiful color, believed to be the darkest when love is most passionate. And when Rudra puts that on his love's hands he will make sure the whole world knows . His declaration loud n clear to the society, staking his claim, fearlessly and remorselessly. His biggest priority here..Paro and her painful past. His need to soothe her. Calm her pain. Ease her agony and discomfort. He will take care of her, in his own callous way. Whether the marriage happens or not, Rudra will make a unique husband, a strong yet good man. She might hate him for that, despise him for his heartless attitude, but he will always be mindful of her needs, aware of her pain, in sync with her every need, whether its her mind, body, heart or soul. She might be unwilling to feel his tenderness, and he might enforce it on her initially, but Rudra will be there for Paro, dragging her unwillingly from discomfort to comfort , from pain to pleasure, from danger to safety, from unbearable pain to pleasurable joy. He will forcibly hold her hand and pull her through the fire and smoke, the anguish and grief, to a much safer, better and happier place.
Give it up Paro Bai Sa, in essence he will not let go of your hand, whether its burnt or hurt, willingly or unwillingly, this man will not rest till her puts ointment on all your wounds, till he bandages all your injuries, till he heals your pain and till he removes all causes of discomfort and till you belong to him, heart, soul and body, till...forever!!
