Of late, his diet is making as much news as his songs. After seven albums and a number of Hindi movie hits to his credit, Adnan Sami talks about his liaison with musicbiz.
Are you smiling because of your look?
My life seems to have taken a 360degree turn. I've lost 110 kilos...will have to lose 20 more to achieve my ideal weight because my diet is under control now.
My parents and friends say that I've lost the extra human being that I carried with me. My mum laughs and says they miss that person that I had on me all the time. I feel so light.

Honestly, I was happy with my weight. Till I was told to choose between life and death. Your album Teri Yaad is in the news. Inshaallah...I think the music comes from my romantic heart. All my music is close to me...it's me. I love making romantic music because I've been in love, I've been through most of its phases.
How come there are no stars in your videos this time?
All the videos of Tera Chehra required seasoned performers. So, we approached Rani Mukherji, Ameesha Patel, Bhumika Chawla and Raveena Tandon.
For Teri Yaad, the theme needed a fresh face like Avanne Dubash. For the Kisi din video, we needed someone like Yana Gupta.
What took you over three years to come out with a new album?
Time has gone by in a flash. My personal life was going through a turmoil. My health was deteriorating. In the midst of all this, I was constantly changing various moods of my album.
How come you haven't composed songs for a film after Lucky?
The music of Lucky did really well. I was approached by several filmmakers. Unfortunately, I had to turn them down because of my failing health. Now that I've bounced back, I've taken up more films.
I believe your marriage has ended.
Yes. My marriage to Saba Galadhari ended a year-and-a-half ago for reasons best known to me. It was then that I had lost control over my health. It had an adverse effect on my life. I went through a rough heartbreak. Now, I'm fine.. happy, once again. I still like her though.
What's next?
I'm looking at more music videos for my album. I've to concentrate on my film projects that I'm composing for. I've playback assignments as well. And I'm planning a world tour very soon.
