My son has big crush on Ash !

Sooraj Barjatya would envy this. In a scene straight out of one of his feel-good films about family ties, Madhavan is currently in the US with his extended family.

"And that invariably means my wife, son Vedant, my parents and my parents-in-law," explains Madhavan.

In fact the actor is as close to his wife Sarita's parents as he is to his own. "There's no difference in my mind and heart between my parents and my wife's parents. If they hadn't supported me during my courtship days it'd have been impossible for a Tamilian born and brought up in Bihar to marry a Maharashtrian girl from Kolhapur.

We include my in-laws in every thing we do. Sarita and I don't go on a single holiday without both sets of parents."

For the last few weeks Maddy has been in Orlando with his family. "We've rented a home here and we're staying like normal residents instead of vacationers, just lazing around, cooking, going for long walks and just being ourselves."

However the one thing that Madhavan won't neglect is his physical-fitness regime. In fact he's busy losing more weight now. "I first lost all my extra baggage in Kent when I was holidaying with my family last year.

That helped me to play the gaunt stressed-out middleclass man in Nishikant Kamat's Yevanu Oruvan in Tamil. Now again I've lost quite a lot of weight in Orlando for Nishikant next which will be in Hindi. "

Apparently Maddy has become unrecognizably slim. "Even my son finds it hard to recognize me," jokes Maddy.

While Maddy's mentor Mani Rathnam flew down to Mumbai for Abhishek Bachchan's birthday, Maddy was unable to attend. "I wasn't invited. And I was out of town. But it's really good to see Ash and Abhishek finally making it official. My son is very jealous. He has this huge crush on Ash ever since they bonded on the sets of Guru."
