How serious is malaria?

I understand it is caused by a bite from a mosquito infected with parasites.
But it is not contagious, person to person.
How sick do you get with malaria? Does anyone have any personal experiences to recount?
I recently had the flu and was sick for nearly two weeks! Didn't feel like getting out of bed, let alone going into work. And I only work in an office, - no running around sets, wearing makeup, looking hot and sprouting seriously important dialogue!

I have been through Malaria thrice in my life. It took 10 days for the fever and infection to leave and was weak for about one week after that. Its basically the fever that is most painful.

Anything between 10 days to 2.5 weeks for the infection to go. Medicines are very strong usually , so they weaken the body , but these days injections are given to dissolve fever , so the recovery is faster. I was given two injections and was back at work within 8 days.

But it gets serious if its a double attack and diagnosed too late.

I've had both Malaria and Flu, and both felt equally debilitating.
Depends on the kind of Malaria you get. But if it's strong enough to require hospitalisation like in Ashish's case, then it must be a virulent type. Tends to result in very high fever spikes (103-104 d F) , shivering, nausea/vomiting and can take you a while to recover depending on how fit you are. I'd say 10 days is about average. Personally, I thought the Malaria was worse than the flu.

True. Malaria is much worse than flu. Breaks your body apart and how.😡😆... and after malaria comes typhoid that turns your body into scattering atoms.

Discussing infections early in the morning! Aashish , you better get well soon and come back to work.

Interesting that you say that - because I actually developed typhoid along with the Malaria and had to be treated for both. Was weak as a kitten for a good couple of weeks after!! I wonder if having malaria makes you susceptible to Typhoid.

Yes Malaria can be fatal if not treated on time... I guess it also depends when he was infected... some parasites remain dormant in the body and attack the body when they come out of their hibernation.. one thing for sure that he wont be allowed to donate blood fin the next 3 years..

All we could do is wish him a speedy recovery 😊
