Hey guys,

Do you think Sports men and Women should be rolemodels?

Or do you think we should not see them as rolemodels?

As some have bad influences on young children growing up, like Keiron Dyer and a ex Newcastle Team player fighting on the pitch in football.

Whereas some are good rolemodels like Amir Khan, promoting Boxing, and being the prode of Britain whom young Children look up to.

Young boys will look to be the next Steven Gerrard, Thierry Henry, Wayne rooney or even the next Tennis Champion.

Girls, may want to be like Paula radcliffe and Dame Kelly Holmes.

Do you think sports athletes are rolemodels already and should have a positive effect on a child aspiring to be like them?

Or do you think we should not see them as rolemodels as they are just notmal people?

Luv to hear your views,

Sports Section Dev Team😛

Well I think sports people are adored..children look up to them so yeah 100% they are role models. These footy players for example and shown to be rich but they have worked hard to get where they are today.

I agree kids do look up to them just like i did when i was younger, but there was an article as to whether some where good role models, for instance wayne rooney man utd striker was said to be a bad role model, this was down to a camera man catching rooney swearing at a ref several times during a match 😕

i dont believe in the role model theory at all... how can u idolise someone whom u have never met or known in person... how can u want to be like someone u dont know... i believe we have people around us in our daily lives - be it ur home, school or work - people u meet and know, and u want to be like them coz u admire them for some reason - maybe coz they r from ur field of work and excel in it, maybe coz u like some aspect of their personality, maybe coz u just enjoy their company... how many of these stars actually care about their fans or for people who idolise them...

Well Rooney is no way a role model!! He swears so much and everyone can tell what he is saying. I have never seen him doing any work for charity either. Which players are doing more nowadays.

Yes but the TEAM as a whole are doing work for UNICEF,

This is about the Individuals 😳 and no matter what your team does, it all lies down to that individual being a role model, as the Team itself is not a rolemodel, its just a club which has players playing that sport. Yes on the PITCH they are rolemodels, but i dont think chasrity work couints as much wen it comes down to deciding if a player is a suitable role model.

Well it depends on the person who we're talking about. There are probably several sport players, who have done good deeds such as donated a whole lot to charity, or gave gifts to sick and unfortunate children during Christmas (Im talking about C. Ronaldo), and who can definitely be looked up to, but then on the other hand, there ARE some sport players who seriously have no sportsman ship..and are just have a lousy personality.

It's just like with anyone else... it depends, who you want to look up to. Oh and let me clarify.. im a hugee fan of C. Ronaldo, but im not saying he makes a perfect role model, because .. well .. he doesn't.

Anyway.. I agree with Kal-el that it's up to the sportsplayer.

What i think is we shouldnt live up to other people should choose ur own path of which to follow.... as u was saying saira ji that loads of sports memebers have lots of rage like keiron dyer an roney an people wouldnt want their child growing up to start fights etc be rude to people.........but even tho there are some sports men that are nice an people would look up to them its a hard decession really 😛

then what would, yaar? I think doing charity work is a sign that shows that you're considerate and care about others. And being considerate.. is definitely is good quality. And wouldn't you want that quality to be present in your role model?
