To ensure eggs last longer, how would you store them -- pointed side up or down?
Pointed side up. Logically the pointed side down will mean it would be too much pressure on the point which will then break.
If by mistake you burn food, what would you do to get rid of the burnt smell from the top layer of food?
I'd garnish it with burnt garlic sauce. Add some garlic to it so it gets a really strong, potent flavor for effect. So I think my burnt garlic sauce should compensate for the burnt smell.
What will you do to ensure that hidden keedas in a cauliflower if any, come out before it is cooked?
(Laughs) I'd eat them. I, anyway have the acting keeda in me.
You are running short of time while frying onions. What will you use as a catalyst so that the onions take a shorter time to turn brown?
Turn the gas on full flame so the onions get burnt.
What washing procedure will you undertake when you find that husband Siddharth Roy Kapur's favourite white shirt begins to turn yellow?
I have a few more of his favourite white shirts stashed away so that when one turns yellow, I'll just pull out the new one and put this away. He won't even realize it.
How will you ensure that while shifting furniture, like beds and sofas at home, there are no scratch marks left on the floor?
I'll make the person who's shifting...I'll get three people. One on each side and one to lie down so that I roll...drag the furniture over them instead of the floor (Laughs). I'll get a fan to do that and say didn't you say you were floored (Laughs wickedly)?!
What temperature is it best to set your AC at to minimise consumption of electricity and reduce your bill?
At zero. Total bachath!
What material ladle is best to use when cooking in a non-stick bartan?
Husband-material. After marriage, everything is husband material. Whatever it is, it has to be non-stick.
Suggest a home remedy for an upset stomach?
Just drink castor oil. It's normally used for constipation. After drinking it, the upsetness will go away at one go. You won't have to keep visiting the loo.
Which foods should be soaked overnight for best preparation?
Sasuma oh, no, no Rajma. ha, ha, ha.
How do you protect your TV remote control from gathering dust?
I'll soak it in soap water.
What will you do to protect your honey bottle from being attacked by ants?
Build a madhumakhi ka chatta around it.
When shopping, would you keep detergents and soaps in the same bag as other groceries?
Yes, so that the other groceries don't get dirty.
How often does Siddharth Roy Kapur parosofy (serve) khaana on the dinner table when you come late from shooting?
He parosofies love. That satiates my hunger. What he serves me satiates my hunger. That's all I'll say.
If you have a premonition that milk is going to phatofy (curdle), what will you do as a last minute saving grace?
I'll quickly get some sugar out and pour it in. That's how we make therrati paal. Yummy phatey doodh ka celebration. Just milk, phata doodh and sugar. South Indian sweet meat!
Your bed is infected with bed bugs. What will you do to get rid of them?
I'll go to my parents house in Khar! (Laughs)
How much do istriwaalas charge for shirt and pant?
Five bucks. Main sabki jaankari rakhti hoon.
What non-toxic solution would you adopt to get rid of cockroaches?
I'd use a jhaadu to kill them.

That may or may not be par meri jhaadu bahut khaas hai.

Thirty bucks.
What is the benefit of marrying a man who is already married once?
If we are together today, that was worth it (Winks).
Does it make sense to attend award functions when you are neither performing nor do you stand a chance of winning?
The politically correct answer would be to say yes, it makes sense to attend. Jokes apart, I'd like to applaud the good work that's happening just like people have been applauding for me these past few years. But it's too much of an effort to sit through those five hours especially when you are working early the next morning. Whenever I'm nominated, I attend. Invariably, the best actress category is announced at the very end so you sit through the function. You don't have a choice. But this year, I had a choice because I wasn't nominated and therefore I didn't have to sit through five arduous hours, going through those award functions which are really quite boring. On television, they seem better because a lot of it is edited. (Laughs)
How did you react to your recent pregnancy rumours? There were reports that you were found to visit some hospital in Andheri east.
I didn't react to them. I've been in Hyderabad shooting for Bobby Jasoos. So obviously I have a twin here whose been visiting some hospital to spark off some interesting rumours about me. Well, Siddharth and I haven't been getting too much time together, so I'm not yet ready to share Siddharth with another entity, however small.
Who was your office spouse on Shaadi Ke Side Effects set?
Priyanka Mehta, my manager. And Farhan was the office grouse! Why the grouse? Because he was always running. And I was saying 'Bhaag, Farhan, bhaag'. (Laughs)
They say marriage is like twirling a baton, eating with chopsticks. It looks easy till you try it. Does Vidya Balan agree?
No marriage is more like twirling a belan and eating what Roy picks.
Meryl Streep worked all throughout her pregnancies. Do you think there is a possibility of the same for our actresses in Bollywood?
Yeah, didn't Farah Khan became an actor after she had triplets.
Did your co-star Farhan Akhtar bring his domestic life to the set?
No he didn't.
Have you worked with such people?
I've seen people who have brought their domestic help to the sets.
So Farhan never complained, "Today Adhuna did this?"
No, I just had to look at his hair and I would know what had happened.
Have you felt one Sunday to just tell your Jewish mother-in-law - "Maaji aaj mujhe Jewish khaana nahin khaana hai?"
No, there's no question of that because she will say 'Betaji, aaj tumhe khaana nahin khaana hai' (Laughs).
Is your mother in law 'Saasu ma no.1'?
She's No. 1 saas and No. 1 maa.
Like Kareena Kapoor Khan, do you feel conscious of doing certain things on screen post marriage?
I feel conscious of playing a spinster. It's no fun anymore (Laughs).
Can marriage be approached as a piece of work?
It should be approached as a piece of art. It's a lifetime investment.
What is the difference between being a married celebrity as compared to being a married commoner?
As a married celebrity, you are supposed to be celebrating marriage all the time.
Are you a happier person after marriage or were you happier before marriage?
I was a happy person before marriage. I'm definitely happier after marriage.
You are now in esteemed company. Before you I have done the same interview all over again (no thanks to a technical snag) with only one film star. Who do you think was the first?
Shah Rukh Khan.
No. He's a big star who has had no opportunity to encounter any shaadi ke side effects.
