Saas Bahu...these two words carry such a stigma in the indian telly world!! Synonymous with kitchen politics, fancy dressed women, heavy make ups, tons of khaana , rona dhona...B****es and what not (God help us!! 😡)
Lately have heard a lot of complaints that in the last few weeks RR has been reduced to a saas bahu show !! Have to agree that the focus seems to have shifted but had a chance to go through some episodes with a friend last night and realized some things...
It is not essentially saas bahu, it is actually foundation laying of the Rudra Paro Saga. The reason the circus was introduced was, Rudra and Paro both needed some insight into each other in order to move on the next phase of their relationship.
When Paro entered the Mad House what did she know about Rudra?? Practically nothing. But with each passing saas bahu episode, she started piecing the puzzle called Rudra. With Dilsher she learnt about his unusual yet rare bonding with his father. With the walking out to the camp incident, she learnt that the man was capable of caring, albeit not in front of others. The tea cup fiasco led to the painful disclosure of his mother's abandonment and she saw his tears for the first time. The fact that he did have a heart and feelings was brought home quite forcefully. The cute kitchen scenario giving them some casual time off with each other, stressing her simple village girl upbringing, and Rudra's patience to a certain extent. The adoption sequence, all that melodrama, had just one fact to underline...Rudra's underlying and surprising capacity to be selfless at times.
The few weeks that we felt were totally wasted, making it a saas bahu saga, were actually introduced by the cvs to bring the two leads a bit closer, which couldn't have been achieved otherwise. Paro learnt that the Jallad, has a past, a painful one, he has abandonment issues, hates beautiful women, abhors marriage, cannot express love, is trustworthy, strong, capable of handling anything thrown at him, calls a spade a spade, can be extremely protective and possessive...is stubborn, hot headed...loves his work, his country...phew... the list is endless. Thus, the mystery called Rudra has been unraveled piece by piece, clue by clue for Paro.
And it was not one sided. Rudra on the other hand learnt some very important lessons. The first and foremost, the girl is not a doormat, she has spirit and a quiet firm determination, a silent strength that can defeat anyone. Practicalities like her cooking, her artistic talent aside, he learnt one very important fact...she is a different woman from his mother. She would never abandon a child. Paro cares even for strangers and stands up for the ones she cares. Her family values, be it her bonding with his father, or Jeeja, or Sunehri, opened his eyes to a yet unknown facet of her personality. Her morals, her innocence, brought about such a solid change, that the man unconsciously realized that Paro could not have been involved, she just wouldn't stand for something so wrong.
Plus the biggest plus...their forced proximity finally kicked in the mutual attraction, which could not have been achieved otherwise.
The kitchen politics we so hated, in essence was the beginning of the saga we are so desperate to see. If we compare their relationship status today to what it was before the Haveli track...the progression between Paro and Rudra is amazing. Just wanted to share that the saas bahu track that we thought was pulling down the show, actually might have been a planned cv move to kick start the initial stages of romance. Do I make any sense ?? ( Do I ever 😆)

Nicely said! As much as we want a show to revolve around the leads it can't, there can be saas bahu stuff but little of that plz, and I want them to carry on with rudra's missions and bsd

You are right..Totally agree with you.RR is not an typical saas bahu show it's all character's have different shades which each of them portrays very well.According to me how much time that rudra and paro would have seen each other face when paro was in custody. They both would have got bored😆.So that's the reasons cv's entered all jokers to give some spicy masaledar story😳.Otherwise CV's would have made jungle story where herione is running all the way and hero tracking her on .Which would have made us big bore🤢

And having laid the foundation, if you notice, they are ready to move on, raring to go. I am a solid waali hater of the saas bahu shows, this being my second show only...can't stand the crap...so know exactly how you feel. 😃

also a show cannot run only on romance between the leads...flying dupatta, and intense staring and the works.

How long can the love story with only the main leads last? The family needs to be in the picture for the love story to begin and continue. Plus it isn't as if they are kept as ornaments, they all have a story to tell. But yeah, not too much saas-bahu crap, it bores the hell out of me.
yeah, it'll be nice to see more of rudra's on his missions.

Well said people do not realise.. This is a soap which they hope to keep on air for at least 250 episodes.. If every story they have is shown in 25 episodes.. What wil we watch next.. Why should we be tempted to watch..
This is not a 3 hours movie..boy meets girl the girl meets family fall in love fight sing songs..
A soap has to have other characters also..in the soap not to be named only the leads had a story.. Others had no story.. Resultant the male lead got tired and exhausted and quit the show and the makers had no balls left to continue ..
Do we want to see the same story again.. Where one of the lead is stretched. Beyond limit and he or she quits..this time it may be the female.. Isn't it better to have well rounded soap which has other characters .. I enjoyed watching KCM...and Sumer and also liked Maithili paro and sunehri interactions..
