I knew cousin marriage was quite common in Pakistani and Bengali cultures. I myself am bengali and married to my first cousin. What I didn't know was it also happened in the indian culture. I know it's popular in Islam, but not all culture's take part in it. Interested to know if it happens in other religions/cultures too. I also think it's great they're showing it on telly too. Please share if you know or are apart of this.
Thanks.

Cousin marriage it's what the religion permits. It's not a cultural thing.

Culture is something made by society :/ Example : Girl you are supposed to cover ur head. A family member whose non-mehram, haha chill out he's family. You get it?

Culture is not no.1 priority, Religion should be.

@Mahii - Mamu is mahram. A girl cant marry her mamu. Islam doesn't permit that.

Yes I have heard from many of my Muslim friends that it is very common for cousin marriages to take place

But I am glad they presented it nicely in the show

I think here you misunderstood what Mahii said!. 😆
She meant by 'mostly to their mamu's' that mostly people are married to their mamu's children (first maternal cousins)

@ Mahii! Correct me if I am wrong 😳
