hi all,i read discussions about babli and how she was possibly brought in to mirror khushi in her current girl woman gone a bit nuts mental state. 😆
interesting thought but i have to say it was neither required nor well done.
need to ramble... pilleejh.
at the outset, fair to say, nothing, absolutely nothing in my eyes, justifies the babli track. because it was indeed terribly written, with no understanding of the very complex girl woman thing in a nine year old they decided to show. it was irresponsible beyond belief, to introduce the notion of a little girl attracted to her much older cousin and being possessive, behaving almost like the proverbial "other woman" without being aware of the nuances, and frankly gratuitously, for no real reason at all..
everything happens in life and such a thing is also possible... but it requires an understanding of the situation at a different level...
babli was brought in at a time when viewers were very disturbed by all that was happening post forced wedding... and as khushi's character started looking more and more ridiculous. childish and silly. there were protests all around and trp was dropping steadily.
i recall the buzz around a new character being introduced, clearly this was alast minute, sve the day kind of plan, not really thought through earler.
so some "clever" guy decided that a kid will add interest and viewers and then to be even more clever maybe they said, okay, she will be like a funny reflection of kkgsr in these post traumatic kkgsr days of extreme sanka.
to justify a khsuhi whose true sanka they were now no lobnger in touch with as tey used to be, they started showing achild acting like a demon.
what sense is this... disturbing that is all it was.
and if indeed a child had to be shown and to fit her in they wanted the comparson with khushi, surely a more innocent, prankish kid was the answer. what was this.
twice before they have placed a child, and really beautifully, at moents they wanted us to connect with the inner child in the leads... the girl at the temple was to me mirror for khushi, while the boy who comes to call payal out straight after asr asks khushi if she believespeople become stars and if his mother can see him was a lovely way to nudge us about the little boy in asr.
however, for me, babli failed to be anything like khushi or remind me.
that dialogue by asr therefore just sounded off.
and while khushi in sanka was the perfect interpretation of how she'd handle the wedding and her man's excesses... it was not well written.
a senstivity was lost.
khushi became a clown in the trp circus. when she started out, she was a girl with a beautiful sanka, pure and gutsy and absolutely enchanting.
in a way, that kidnap redeemed kkg and was so essential after the bout of crazy "so not khushi" behaviour.
for instance, kkg would never drag him out half naked in front of the whole world to bathe in a tubewell so he could get how the other half lives. (huh? so acchi bahu rumblings have started already), she will give him hell in private, but not that.
she was a girl with enough brains not to throw herself off a terrace because kamlesh khabri had said things that made her brain go haywire and make crazy connections. would she watch kamlesh khabri? of course. would she then imagine weird things? goes without saying. would she behave erratically with him based on her apprehensions? yes yes yes.
would she write a will, of her cutesy possessions and then go to kill herself.
resounding NO.
this is the girl who has kept herself alive through a traumatic loss of parents suddenly at a very young age... with a belief, a vishwaas.
suddenly her writers forget all about her inner self, innate nature, her basic strength and reduce her to this?
i have no argument with the idea that under duress people react in all sorts of strange ways. i do... all the time. and khushi in fact was the sort who anyway had a filmi/ott contour in her mien. from the very first day it was apparent. starting from haring off to meet an unknown man dressed up for a wedding with keds on, one knew she was a little cooky. then came her explanation of how she was dressed for costume competition in school... khushi was inventive with a sense of drama... clearest indication of ott, she made jalebis in the middle of the night after such a chaotic experience, meeting ascary accusing stranger, being locked up, having her dori ripped and then finally her jiji's wedding stymied...
she as a character fobs off painful, difficult reality by slipping into a world that is lighter, fun, happy, hopeful... she needs this upbeat feeling, at her core is a belief in the positive... a vishwaas.
... and she engineers it her way.
her stars, her constant chatting with devi maiyya, her jalebi making stress buster are there. then there is her natural penchant for the films and the filmi... chakki peesing to dancing with jharoo, to calling him laad governor, and of course her boy friend, salman ji... when has ott not been a part of kkg?
so when a man she fell in love with and of course in her filmi way started seeing him as dhobi, gateman, etc, and stars fell on her dupatta... when this man forced her in the terrifying, mind bludgeoning way into marrying him and locked her in without any explanation... she would of course cry and feel miserable and then finally try to fight her way out of this feeling...
she devised a revenge plan... find all sorts of ways to bother the heck out of him so he's compelled to let her go.
fits with the character... and naturally being khushi, she would not do terrible things, just khushi type things to force his hand. remember getting la dressed up as a bride and making her sit on the bed? filmi that too.
and we could get it perfectly.
but as we are into post marrage, much of khushi is not quite right, except for the perfect 5 days of holi... it's just been patches of sparkling glorious kkg...
and then to compound the matter, a babli??? hai re nand kissore.
