Lara along with Anil Kapoor, Karan Johar and others will be judging a contest Idea IIFA Star ki Talaash where the contestants can enter by asking a simple question as to where this year's IIFA Weekend and Awards are going to be held. A few out of many will be siphoned out and after an intensive makeover (which will be presented on Star TV), one male and one female contestant will win the coveted opportunity to walk the red carpet at IIFA Weekend in Yorkshire this June in Manish Malhotra and Anna Singh creations respectively. "I hope there will be tears and laughter and jubilation that signifies reality TV. Unfortunately there will also be some disappointments. But it's your chance to make something out of your life," Lara said. As a star what it feels to judge your own fans? "I loved the idea when it was told to me. It gives an opportunity to reach out to your audience. It's amazing to see the change in personalities. It's a gift." Former Miss Universe feels that being a part of a contest yourself makes you a lot more nervous rather than judging it. "That's why I shall try and ensure that the contestants don't have jitters." Lara's association with IIFA has been a long one and in all probability she may well go on to host the awards for a third time in a row. She still remembers how during her performance in Amsterdam, she was put in a magician's cage which was set on fire on stage. When you are talking about IIFA, there has to be some reference to its dedicated brand ambassador Amitabh Bachchan. "I definitely think Mr Bachchan adds a lot of prestige," she said. The confidence that Lara Dutta exuded in this small chat with India FM, it's clear she shall excel in the new role of a reality TV judge as well. Wonder if the show in itself will have the same pull as an Indian Idol or a Bigg Boss? |
