Chapter-6

Days had passed by, shopping, meeting, preparing for the wedding, and the countdown for the wedding functions had begun. Only the final shopping that was left was, buying their wedding dresses. Hence, both the families set out to finally buy the main dresses for the functions... The car took a halt at the parking of the main market of the city- The New Market. Walking about to one of the best stores for bridal dresses, they entered into The Kala Niketan. Asad stood behind the ladies, who were busy sitting on the seats and choosing the dresses. Zoya had finalised the dresses for her Ubatna and Mehendi(Guys, don't panic with the names of the functions... I'll explain all of them once I start writing the functions), when she was browsing through the beautiful Lehengas... With varied colour combinations and sequins. Zoya would open the lehenga, and then look up at the mirror in front, and saw the image of an intently looking Asad behind, who would either furrow his eyebrows at the dress she picks, and that she understood, he didn't like... And Zoya would get equally disinterested in the dress, and commented on the bad taste of the shopkeeper, bringing out some or the other fault in them, justifying Asad's dislike... Finally, when Dilshaad understood the silent conversation going between the both, she asked the tired shopkeeper-

D: Bhaiya, kuch Surakh(Red) aur Harey (Green) rang ka Sharaara(Lehenga) dikhaaiye...

And as the shopkeeper spread some varieties of Lehenga's in front of them... Zoya simply ran tender hands on each asking for an indication in the mirror, which one he likes... Seeing the time they are taking, and because the elders are sitting they aren't properly able to communicate, a frank Dilshaad laughed-

D: Arrey Asad... Beta jaldi se decide kar do na, bechaari kab se tumhari haan ka intezaar kar rahi hai... jaldi karo na...

And that was it, both the families laughed out together, leaving very-very embarrassed Asad and Zoya... And seeing them so shy Rashid came to their rescue-

R: Chalo aisa kaam karte hain, we all are going to the shop on the other side of the road to select Sherwanis, you both decide and come there... Bhaiya,(Talking to the shopkeeper) Bill kar dijiyega, saare jodon(Dresses) ke, Dishaad Constructions ke naam par, aapka payment ho jaayega...

As the families left, Asad gave a sigh of relief and sat down beside Zoya, finally selecting two dresses, one for the Nikaah, and the other for the Walima... Walking across the road, Zoya and Asad were walking happily, when a car came across at a dashing speed towards Zoya... Asad had a horrified look on his face, seeing this... It was just a split of a second when he held her arms and pulled her towards him, just in the nick of time, before the car could crash on Zoya... Zoya was just too numb for a few moments, seeing herself almost near to an accident, and after a few moments she realised she could hear Asad's racing heart beats, and then is when she looked at her state... Clinging on to his chest completely, and Asad's arms protectively around her waist, both stood at the corner of the road, waiting for their raging breaths come normal...

As much as Zoya was happy in his arms, she felt extremely awkward standing on the road hugging each other, so she gently extricated herself from his arms, and as realisation dawned on to Asad, he immediately withdrew his arms from her, his cheeks turning red, but then worry took over, and he gently asked-

A: You ok Miss. Farooqui? Chot toh nahi lagi?

Z; N...NO Mr. Khan... I'm fine!

A: Ok! Chaliye...

This time Asad was careful, and avoiding her protesting looks and futile murmurs, he entwined his fingers of his right hand with her left hand, and walked past the road, until the gate of the shop, they were supposed to reach... "Eversmart Showroom", one of the best Sherwani and Suits that presented in Bhopal, they entered in... Zoya's mother looked at both of them, who were empty handed...- "Arrey, where are your dresses Zoya?", she asked...

Z: Wo, Ammi, dresses abhi alter hongi, and they are too heavy to carry them along, so they'll deliver them at our home, when they'd be done...

On their parents' nod, they moved about to look for Shervanies, and Reception suits, but this time the parents were prudent enough who directly asked Zoya to go along with Asad and select them for him, while the rest of the families, were busy selecting theirs, with the women suggesting their tastes...

Finally done with the shopping for the dresses, all of them decided to return to their homes...

It was just a week before the Wedding, when Zoya's Ammi-Abbu, Aapi and Jeeju were ready to leave for the Khan Mansion... Zoya asked them the reason when her ammi told her, making her sit of the sofa.

Ammi: Beta Zoya, kal Quraan-quaani hai beta... Quraan-quaani is done before any auspicious occasion or work is begun. As you know, the learned people, the Hafiz would come and read the Quraan. And that would mark the beginning of your wedding functions. So we are going to Asad's house to give the first card of Invitation from our sides to them...

Zoya sat down putting a movie on the lappy, while the family left for Asad's home...

The Farooquies reached to the khan Mansion, and went to Asad's grandmother, giving her the card, inviting them to the wedding... When the elders went busy here and there, Asad picked up the card, and read the card-

In the name of Allah, the most beneficent and merciful,

Ok guys, I took the creative liberty here... The cards are not printed this way... It's just to let you all know what all the functions are. That is it...!!! No other rasms and functions count into an Islamic Marriage... Not atleast in Bhopal... There is no function as in Sangeet here... We make it our own functions at home, by dancing and singing during the Ubatna and Mehendi. But there is as such, no said Function. Just wanted to clear it once and for all... The rest of the misconceptions I'm going to clear when I post the Ceremonies Updates...

Friends this is my last update until my exams finish on the 4th of March 2014. It can happen that, I may get some mood, and I write,😆, But, if not, I'm not going to update till then... From the next update onwards, I'm beginning with the much awaited wedding functions... Starting wid Ubatna... What these show people are calling Haldi... But its not Haldi... and deffo not done the way I'm being in SBS n SBB...😆😆😆

In Bhopal they take a lot of care that the bride n the groom start behaving like one, and not doing all that they are showing in promos...😆 A lot of mannerisms and delicacy...😳

But anyways, I'll show that all in my coming updates...
