All the best with uni and that double major,
Saffi! I'm sure you'll come out with flying colors - just don't let serials take over your study time! 😊
General readers' warning: Off-topic digression for a bit!
I am trying to catch up with TP now since JLZ is in a slump somewhat right now, writing-wise...Hooray for drama. *weary sigh* I love that the Mittals are finally getting the chance to tell a story with a finite end, regardless of how long it will take. The fact that they have an end in mind and will follow through to its completion properly is the biggest, most important thing, especially since it is happening in an industry where the norm has shifted towards longevity of shows based on TRP/TVT ratings, actors, jodis, and less of a focus on telling a cohesive, finite story. As I'm watching TP now, I'm trying my best to pay attention to the details and motifs that link things together. I've always loved their storytelling style, based on what I've seen so far...That literary style, as I often say...The fact that TP is an adaptation of Sarat Chandra's novel also lends an extra layer of fascination for me...I'd never heard of that novel, but now I am curious about both the novel and the show's treatment of it! TP is wonderful, truly. Almost everything about it makes it very easy to watch, for me personally...It's also the first time I'm actually watching any of Iqbal/Shraddha's work - I don't think I could have picked a better show to see their acting prowess be showcased! (And then there's the fact that Shraddha and her character give me an odd sense of deja vu every so often...But that's a very good thing, in light of the reasons why I feel that deja vu in the first place!)
As for JLZ...The premise does involve an older woman and a younger man, but that's really a technicality in the face of their relationship, given the way it develops ultimately...The age issue does come up in many ways, subtly, but in essence it is about a woman who has to shoulder so many responsibilities that she doesn't have time to "live" - and the way the man wants to show her how to take pleasure in life's little things and live for herself a little...hence the title...The promos sum it all up very nicely, really. I got pulled to the show like a moth to a flame, thanks to a friend's gifs! I saw her gifs and ended up gazing at them so often that I eventually felt compelled to find out the context of those scenes! Marathoned it in 3 days flat, pretty much nonstop...I will tell you, very honestly, that the first 65 episodes are what I call Classic JLZ. Beautiful, subtle, poignant moments and the gentle shaping of a relationship...After that, there were spikes of drama (thanks to EK and her trademark style - merger episodes *weary sigh*) but things still developed very nicely until Dec 30th. That was the last episode I absolutely loved because things were still developing gradually and naturally. After that...Well...I'm not going to talk about it! 😆 I wasn't expecting to love JLZ as much as I ended up loving it, honestly! But there was a charm and a simple sweetness in last year's episodes that won me over pretty much instantly. Those episodes will always be the ones I go back to if I want to watch the show again! If only JLZ had been a bound-script show! *sigh* Sangita is such a fantastic actress, and Ruslaan is doing a wonderful job. Just...if only...
Okie dokie, I'll stop my off-topic chattering now! Sorry, everyone!
EDIT: I really need to stop rambling, haha...Didn't mean for this reply to get so long!
