1. Phulwa sat on the sofa with a knitting needle in hand just when Abhay entered the room. Phulwa was too busy knitting that she didn't notice Abhay enter.

'Phulwa' Abhay called.

Phulwa looked up and gave him a big smile.

'Oh when did you come?'

'What are you doing?' he asked ignoring her question.

Phulwa looked down at the knits and the ball of yarn and replied with a smile, 'Oh nothing, just knitting a sweater.' She said smiling shyly.

'Sweater!' Abhay exclaimed slightly shocked.

'Yes?' Phulwa replied a bit surprised at his reaction.

'But but...why?'

'Why do we need a sweater Abhay?' Phulwa asked feeling annoyed.

'Are you sure about it?' Abhay asked highly confused and shocked.

'Yes Abhay I'm sure, it's about time.'

'Already?' He exclaimed again.

'Yes Abhay but why are you so worried? Don't worry I'll finish this just in time for its arrival.' She said smiling.

'Just in time?' he looked at her worried and again dared to ask,'how long that will be?'

'Oh, still a few more months to go.' Phulwa replied getting back to knitting.

'But how is it possible?' he asked looking pale with shock.

'What do you mean how is it possible? Its very much possible.'

'But...but nothing happened then how can you...' his words left hanging as Phulwa gave him the death stare.

'Abhay you are making no sense now let me work on it after that we have to go shopping too. Don't worry I won't take much long already feeling tired so won't walk much and then will have dinner you know there is a new place in town...' she stopped as she heard a thud sound.

She looked up but there was no sign of Abhay then her gaze went down and there on the floor was lying Abhay unconscious, unable to handle the truth that winter was finally arriving and summers were about to be over.

Abhay was putting his gun in its holster when he heard Phulwa scream from the bathroom. Leaving everything he ran to the bathroom to see what the matter was.

'What happened?' he asked her worried.

Phulwa was standing near the sink, her face pale and frantic.

'That...that cockroach!' she finally managed to say.

'What? Cockroach?' Abhay asked and then started to laugh.

Phulwa looked at him angry. 'What's so funny about it? Cockroaches are...scary and very icky!' she said making a face.

Abhay shook his head amused. 'Can't believe my dacoit rani is scared of a little cockroach.'

'It's not little! It...it has got wings.' She said gulping.

Abhays smile froze then slowly started to fade away. 'Where is the cockroach now?' he asked with a serious expression.

'It was there.' Phulwa replied pointing to the shower stall.

Abhay slowly took out his gun from its holster and started to move towards it. he took his position, leaning against the wall he held his gun tightly in both hands ready to shoot.

'You are going to shoot a cockroach? Phulwa asked, raising one brow at him.

Abhay stopped looked at the gun. 'Oh. You are right, I didn't put bullets in.'

'Gah! Abhay just...step on it.' She said getting impatient.

'Doing it Phulwa.' He replied slightly annoyed now. Pushing back the shower curtains, he looked around but there was no cockroach.

'Where is it?' he asked annoyed.

'It was there when I called you.' Phulwa said slowly inching towards the door.

'Well it's not here now so where did it go?' he asked looking around.

'Abhay...' Phulwa called him in a shaky voice.

'What?' he asked. 'What happened Phulwa' he asked in a concerned voice.

'Abhay that co...cockroach...' Phulwa tried to point to it.

'Where? Where is it?' he asked looking frantically around.

'On yo...your shoulder.' She choked the words.

'What!' Abhays eyes widened and his face grew pale as he looked at his shoulder and for sure there sat a big fat ugly cockroach, its icky feelers playing with Abhays badges.

A large scream followed this as Abhay tried to shake it off.

'AAAHHH! Get it off me! Get it off me!' Abhay screamed looking ready to start running around.

For moment Phulwa was shocked and then she started laughing.

'Phulwa it's not funny.' Abhay said clenching his teeth.

'Sorry Abhay but...'she said trying hard to control her laughter.

'Stop smiling and just...get it off me!' he said looking disgustedly at the roach which seemed too comfortable at Abhays shoulder.

Just then Gauri and Thakurian entered the room hearing the screams. The sight before them also made them laugh.

'Will everyone stop laughing and get this...this disgusting thing off me!' Abhay said.

Gauri shook her head and came forward, taking off her slippers she slapped it down hard on the cockroach killed it and threw the dead body in the flush.

'Lo yeh haal hai. Ek dacoit aur ek ACP aur ek cockroach se daar gaye?'

Thakurian and Gauri laughed their way out while Abhay gave deadly stares to Phulwa who returned it with greater fervor.

'It's your fault why didn't you tell me first it was the flying one.'

'My? I thought ACP sahab can handle a little cockroach.'

'It was not little.' Abhay said almost glaring.

'Oh yeah you seemed too confident before but you should have helped out!'

'Me I was...'

And so a typical morning of Mr. and Mrs. Abhay Rai Singh started with much love and care.

Abhay slowly took out his gun from its holster and started to move towards it. he took his position, leaning against the wall he held his gun tightly in both hands ready to shoot.

'You are going to shoot a cockroach? Phulwa asked, raising one brow at him.

Abhay stopped looked at the gun. 'Oh. You are right, I didn't put bullets in.'

Can imagine him in shooting stance, eyes darting around for the insect🤣
