They say Age is just a number. Its not how old you are but how old you feel that matters.
In general the age gap is not an issue when you are younger (18 V 36) but it may become an issue when you get older (40 V 58).
Every relationship is different and therefore whether an age gap is in issue depends on the individuals involved.
Until PHS I had never watched an indial Serial and probably will never watch another one again so I knew nothing about this serial, had not seen any promos. I came across it purely by chance whilst channel hopping and Sugni caught my interest. So when TVS came along I thought this is going to be kind progressive verus tradition type of drama with this young girl being the catalyst. So I watched their relationship progress, the chemistry was mind blowing from the first scene. When Adi came along, I thought nothing of it becaue he was with Amu (there relationship was long term) and because he was TVS's nephew.
For me the age gap was not an issue because Sugni due to the environment she was bought up in was more mature than girls of her age. This programme was about breaking traditions/society's rules. The inequality between the two caste (one being protitute and the other wealthy upper class) making that difficult task monumental.
To achieve that it needed a man who was not only wealthy, self assured and shrewd but commanded respect and was feared in equal measure which meant that, that man was not going to be a young man but an adult.
So I think for this story, the age gap was acceptable.
