Chapter 6,7, 8 are very hard hitting
My heart goes out to Sugni. We all know these kind of things and worse happens in the real world but when its put across so succiently it really makes an impact.
Sugni's journey from being abused and betrayed by those that are suppose to protect her to trusting another human being (at the moment he is just someone who makes her feel safe) is going to be interesting.
I am look forward to do it.

Thank you Payal..., when i first started this story ...I had a very diffrent Sugni in mind ...that fiesty girl we know from the series...but somehow that did not happen. One of the things I irks me with some of this serials and movies is the way they sugar coat and try to make some horrible situations unrealistic. For example...the probability of Sugni/Chubuli staying in a brothel for all this time and not being going into trade...is low. In reality girls who are there are thier against thier will and have no say in what happens to them...they don't walk around like they own the place..and if they do they would have some scars to prove it. It's a sick reality , sadly. On the other hand the probability of finding a kind hearted stranger who would take you in with n questions askes is equally low...but I am just a sucker for romance lol...
Keep reading and I hope you enjoy the rest of the story! 😊

Chapter 9

Sugni came downstairs the next morning, her body rested but her mind weary. She thought about staying up in her room and never coming out , but she could not really do that as sooner or later they would come look for her. She had no idea what she would say to Vickram. He knew the whole story now , which was a relief to her, but she also noticed he could not wait to get away from her. Not long after she completed her tale that she noticed him walking out the door. For some reason that reaction hurt. Not that she did not expect it, but still it did.

The dining area was empty on the early Sunday morning , the place was quite, was he still asleep, glancing at the clock she saw it was 9 :30 ...way past break fast time, maybe he went out. Trying to figure out if she was relived or disappointed at not having to face him yet she took a plate and began helping herself to breakfast that was still on the table.

The ringing of the phone interrupted the quite morning, as she looked around to see Dhanuma coming from the kitchen area, she seemed out of breath.
"OH Sugni ! Can you take this to Vickram please, I need to check the oven ,he out in the garden, tell him his sister will call back in five minutes." She said handing her a cordless phone. Getting up from her untouched breakfast Sugni walked out the door to the back garden, for the first time noticing how beautiful it was. The colorful flowers with some elegant looking back yard furniture. It felt like a relaxing space, to just enjoy nature. She spotted Vickram sitting on a patio chair apparently in deep conversation on he cell phone. His back to the house. As she got closer she could make out the conversation, which stopped her in her tracks.:

"Amrita I can't believe I hired some one like that. She is deplorable and disgraceful. Any one who would stoop that low...I mean she is lucky all I am going to do is fire her ...and not turn her over to...calm down? oh I am ...ohhh no no I understand every one make mistakes, some things I can over look, but what she did is just plain disgusting to me...and there is no forgiving that!'

Sugni herd enough, resting the phone on the table she was standing next to she went back inside. Well she no longer had to guess what he was thinking as she knew now, he sure didn't mince words. Not that she could blame him, he was right she was disgusting and deplorable. Contaminated, and she had no right to come here a spoil these good peoples lives by her presence.

She was just fooling herself thinking she could start over. There was no other place for her. It was best she did herself and every one else a favor and go back where she belonged...

*****************************

"Vickram you don't mean that , your just mad right now! " Amrita said.
"Of course I am mad, and of course I mean it, for the past five years Claudia has been stealing from me ... and no one picked up on it until recently. I helped her with her children's education, and when she was "sick" made sure she wanted for nothing, and that is how she repay me, by robbing me! Had Anthony not caught her on tape we never would have known.!'
Vickram had his normally quite Sunday morning , disturbed by an unexpected visit form his head of security , who told him that one of his most trusted employees was nothing more than a thief. Claudia, joined his company some years ago, and was in charge of seeing that all his over seas shipments arrived on time and in good condition. She did her job well , or so Vickram thought, apparently she would marked goods as damaged or broken in records when in reality they were fine and steal them for herself. She could get away with it as most of the time she worked alone. However the installation of a new security system was her downfall as she got caught. After some investigation, it was concluded she was doing this for a while now undetected. To say Vickram was shocked was putting it mildly.
Vickram was usually a calm individual, who saw his business not only to make a profit but an opportunity to help others. However liars and cheats he could not stand. This business was a dream he shared with his late wife, keeping it successful and with a good reputation was his life's goal now as it was a dream she had when she was alive. He would not stand for any one causing harm to that dream.
Amrita Called just as he finished reading the report and he ended up venting it all out to her. " "Vickram , you are still feeling sorry for her other wise you would have turned her over to the police, and I think you should"
He knew that , he also knew she was a single mother of two small children, and what would happen to them if thier mother were rotting in jail. Vickram sighed knowing she was right.
'I told you you are nothing but a teddy bear, all big a burly with a soft heart" She laughed.
The ringing of the house phone cut his conversation. Why was the cordless sitting on the table? Dhanuma!
"Let me call you back!" he ended the call. As he picked up the other line. "Hey bro!" his sister greeted...
"Hey.."

Half and hour later Vickram came back into the house, a lot calmer than he was. Talking to his sister always put him in a better mood. Belatedly he wondered if Sugni was awake. His morning was so disturbed he did not get a chance to check in on her. Walking into the dining area, he saw the plate of food apparently untouched. She was awake , but where was she? Glancing over to the living room , where she would normally be , he found it empty.
"Dhanuma!" He called, she came out of the kitchen.
"Yes!"
"Have you seen Sugni?"
"Huh? She handed you the phone no?" Dhanuma answered confused.
"It was on the table"
"I asked her to give it to you" Danuma said .
"Hmm ": That was strange , he did not even hear her. Thinking she may have gone back to her room, he made his way upstairs. Her room was empty. A sinking feeling started in the pit of his stomach. He remembered her at the edge of the cliff. OH God, was revealing the horrible details of her past , to much. Did it push her over the edge. Wondering what to do , he checked in the bathroom , almost terrified at what he might find, but found it empty. coming out , he looked around, most of her meager belongings were still there, except for her tote bag.
he was about to leave the room when his eye caught a piece of paper laying on the dresser. Picking it up it was a note that was addressed to him...

Vickram,
I have never said it, but thank you for every thing that you have done for me. I know words can't say just how grateful I am. Until I met you , I did not think people could actually be so kind to a perfect stranger.
Your kindness, not only saved me , but gave me some hope that maybe all is not lost.
But I think I have imposed on you long enough and it's time I leave. I am sorry if I have somehow caused problems for you. , please forgive me.
Tell Ms. Amrita good bye , and I was happy to have met her, and thanks for everything. I'll never forget you two, and I know now that some where in this world goodness exists..

Thank you,
Sugni.

Vickram read the note twice, trying and failing to find a clue as to where she might be. "Hey Bhagwan! He said, as he made his way outside to the van, this Sunday just kept getting better and better!

Vickram spotted her walking down the main road, her head bent and she walked forward. Pulling along side of her he said "Need a ride?"
She stopped staring at him wide eyed.
"Hop in" he said waiting for her to comply. She stood like a statue. Not Moving. It was a Sunday , and as usual the streets were deserted and quite , except for the occasional vehicle that might pass. he knew getting a taxi or any other transport was impossible , unless you called for one, and he did not think she did.
"Sugni get in" he said again. She shook her head negative. Letting out a deep breath , Vickram came out of the jeep and stood in front of her. She took a few steps away from him shaking her head from side to side.
'Where are you going?" he asked.
"Away"
"Where ?" he asked
"Castle Town" She said...

"Sugni ..I..." He started

"I know.."she cut him off, "A,and I understand how you feel but th-thank you for everything "I am leaving " She turned to continue walking. Vickram placed his hand on her shoulder, she jumped tripping at the edge of the side walk, she began falling as he steadied her., and let her go. "I'm sorry...I'm sorry" he said "But you can't just leave like this?" he said. Sugni wrapped her arms around herself as she stared at the side walk.

"What are you talking about, what do you mean you understand ...understand what exactly.? Vickram asked

Sugni stood there listening, why was he here?, He should be happy she was going Why was he pretending otherwise. She was fighting hard not to scream and cry, she didn't want him to think she was looking for sympathy. Why didn't he just leave her to go? She shook her head from side to side , she had nothing to say.

"I thought you wanted to stay her? I thought you liked your job..then why would you want to lea..."

She palced her hands over her ears and said "Stop it! Please stop it!"" She started to cry " Shocking Vickram. This situation was getting weirder by the minute.

"What?"

"I know you want me to leave, I heard you, so stop it, please I am leaving "

"I never said that..what are you talking about"

"I know you're going to fire me..be-be because...I was disgusting" She burst out.

Suddenly it clicked , the phone on the table...she over heard part of his conversation, and thought he was talking about her. OH God!. reaching inside the van he pulled out a couple of tissues form the box in the dashboard, and went back in front of her.

"Sugni, look at me, please" he said. "Please" he repeated when she continued to start at the sidewalk. Reluctantly she did. He handed her the tissue. "So, you over herd my phone conversation, but you misunderstood the whole thing" He began.

"But you said"

" I know what I said, one of the most disgusting and disgraceful," he saw her flinch at the words, "to me are dishonest people , who lie , cheat and steal from others. This morning I found out an employee I thought was loyal and trustworthy, was guilty of all of that, and I am about to fire her. I was not talking about you. Believe me, I don't think that way about you."" He said.

"You -you don't?" She asked

"NO! Would I really go through all this trouble , to stop you , just so I could fire you?" He asked.

She shook her head.

"So can we go back now?" he asked. She nodded.
