You know it always has amazed me how Vikram respects Sugni, From the beginning (referring to PSH) he has always treated her equally to himself he never looked down upon her. He first tried to earn her trust and friendship and was always there for her whether it was to protect her from someone or just as a shoulder to cry on however,unaware that this mere friendship based on trust and mutual respect would soon blossom into a beautiful love story and i must say that you have revived that same person we knew in your story. Someone who does not consider a person's class,status, background etc as the most important thing but rather,sees the good in every individual.

Hey Sara... Thank you and yes, Vickram's non judgemental nature was something that I admired the most. His respect for Sugni was another...and he did not just say it but ment it... when he took his shoes off, when he defended her in front of society and his own family even her mother... He never questioned her and always told her she could be better... it was really a shame that for shallow reasons the CV's and producers spoilt what could have been a beautiful love story... As I always believed if given a chance Vickram would have helped Sugni soar to higher hights...

Thank you Ron... I am happy you are enjoying it. Yes she is feeling safe with him as she is seeing another side to a man that sadly has been lacking in her life...so it will take her a while to warm up to that...

CHAPTER 11

"Checkmate!?" She exclaimed'

""What! no way!" He said as he glanced at the move she just made

"But you said'It's not?" Sh looked at the board she was sure she made the right move, but it was a complicated game. She made a disappointed face she was sure she got him this time.

"Wait!" He said glancing the board, his king was cornered by her queen alright '"hmm it is I guess you won" He said conceding his defeat.

"I won!...Really?" he nodded. She laughed

She had been trying to simply understand this complicated game for the past week, having lost all the games so far, so she was pleasantly surprised that she actually won.

"Congratulations. You finally got it!" he smiled. He started packing away the pieces.

"Vickram , thank you" She said softly

"For what...you won the game fair and square! " he said

"No'not the game'for everything 'I don't think I would have made it through this week'"

...Her therapy sessions were getting more intense, she recently started talking about her life at the establishment. It was a trigger causing more panic attacks. That first day she came back home , disturbed and quite. Since the friendship declaration, he made it a point to try to get her to talk more and she tried. but that night sensing her mood , probably because Amrita told him, he left her to be.

She was startled awake , scared for no reason, she rushed out of her bed, knocking down the bedside lamp. Vickram found her sitting in the corner of her room her arms wrapped around herself.. "Sugni...Hey" He said comming to kneel at her side. She looked up at him for a few seconds before clinging to his shirt, much like she did during her last episode, his reaction was much the same, only this time he knew she was panicking. "Alright,...it'll be Ok... you're safe.Shhh..it's alright" he repeated. he held her as he tried calming her down, with words of reassurance that she was safe. It took a while but eventually she did calm down."I'm sorry" she said after she was back to her self.

"Don't apologise. You feeling better?." She nodded.

"Let's get you back to bed" She stared at the bed, really not wanting to sleep and have more nightmares. But she knew it was late and she already disturbed him enough for one night. As though he read her mind, he said

."Come with me." Leading her downstairs to the living room he turned on the light, poured her a glass of water, and told her to take a seat. Moving to the cupboard at the side , he took out an antique looking chess board,beautifully hand crafted in wood and placed in the the middle of the couch. "You know , whenever I want to relax or get my mind off something, I'd play chess." he said as he began setting up the game. "It helps , sometimes. How about a game?"

"I don't know how to play"

"I'll teach you..." With that one move , he took away her fear of not wanting to sleep and be sucjked into her nightmares, and also ensured she was not alone. Since then playing a game of chess had become somewhat of a nightly occurrence . And finally tonight she managed to win ! His simple understanding, silent support still amazed her.

"Hey you don't have to thank me; I toldyou I am here for you. You'll get through it , because I know you are a fighter, right? And after reaching this far we won't let you fall. I promise."

She nodded, smiling. The road might be rough now, but at least she could see the light ahead..

The tinkling laughter coming from behind him caught his attention , as Vickram turned around to find a boisterously laughing Sugni playing a video game as she navigated to onscreen car through the traffic skidding to a stop at the finish line.. Her child like enthusiasm for all things animated amused him. He reminded himself that in a sense she was just like a child, experiencing these things for the first time really. Over the past few weeks, she did honor her word and tried her best to interact more and not hide out by herself, going out on shopping trips with Amrita although if she could avoid it she tried. Slowly she was gaining that confidence in herself. In fact this was the first time he saw her this carefree. He smiled; it was really a sight to see her for once looking happy and not that girl who had the weight of the world on her back.

As though sensing him staring she looked back to where he was sitting at his desk, as she got all serious again. "I'am sorry was it to loud?" She asked , lowering the barely audible volume. No matter how much he tried 'Vickram could not get her to stop apologizing for everything.

"No." he said getting up and walking over to the couch'"you looked like you were having fun'you won?"

"Yes'" She she smied widely.

"OH Well it's easy when you're playing by yourself" He said. " Not fair you alone having all "the fun' so how about it up for a challenge?" He asked

"Uhh Ok?" She said, it sounded like a question rather than an answer . Walking over he set up the second control as he took a seat next the her. "So you think you can drive her'lets see you beat me!" he said as he restarted the game and choose his car. '

The sound of voices drew Dhanuma into the hall way as she peeked in. She stood looking at the scene infront of her in disbelief, and shock. Vickram and that girl, we sitting on the couch playing that game thingy, that was not as shocking as the fact that for the first time in since Reva's death did she see Vickram this happy, for the past three years he was moving around but his movements were mostly automatic, bland.

Then out of nowhere he comes home with Sugni one night'that by itself was weired but not so much as it was obvious she was in some deep problem, Vickram was always one with a soft heart, and even as a child if he could help any one he usually did. Reva was no different.

But somehow things with Sugni seemed different, he was much more attentive toward her, more protective than usual. At first she thought nothing of it, but seeing them now she was beginning to wonder was she taking advantage of this situation. It would'nt be the first time some one thought he was a push over and an easy target in a get rich quick scheme. But she knew Vickram'he may have a soft heart'.but he was not any body's fool. And he also was not prone to fall for any one on a sob story. However he has been alone for three years '.Her attention again was brought to the scene in front of her'

'Move to the left'left" he said she did going into a dead end tunnel as he went to the right by passing her.

"Hey!"

"Hahahaha'

"You Cheated!!!' She exclaimed

He leaned towards he sulking face, "Who told you to listen to me?" he retorted still laughing

Sugni placed her hand against his forearm and shoved him playfully causing Vickram looked at her seriously as she gasped and swallowed, the light hearted moment turning tense as she closed her eyes as though shutting out his reaction. She coul'nt believe she did that ..OH God.

"OH My God'you're mad at me" Vickram said as he chuckled. Sugni looked at him she had braced herself for his anger, he was still laughing as she continued to stare at him.

"Ok I'm sorry , I cheated'but I could't let you win'I'd look bad!" He said making a funny face she laughed'.

Dhanuma slowly retreated to her room her mind on what she was seeing. There was more to this than met the eye. She owed it to this family to make sure it stayed protected from people who might want to take undue advantage of kindness'. Taking up the phone she dialed a number she did not have a cause to call in years.

Well, another great chapter Vinnie, i absolutely enjoyed it. It is nice to see Sugni smiling and having fun and yes i agree with Dhanuma, there is definitely more to Vikram and Sugni's acquaintance than what meets the eye😉. Great job👏 and i am looking forward for chapter 12.

Awesome chapter! Good that sugni is smiling and is happy. And also another suspense. Whom did dhanuma call? Can't wait for the next chapter
