Chapter 22.

Vickram was watching television when Sugni walked in. "Hey! How is Champa?'

"Fine as usual" She answered,

She came in joining him on the couch.

"What are you watching?" She asked

"I did'nt get the name ...looks interesting though" he said placing his arm around her as she rested her head on his shoulder.

"Hmmm...Popcorn?" She asked

"Naa I'm good"

And he realized as he said the words they were completely true. Some how his life came full circle.. Just a few months ago he was walking around wishing for his death. And now he could not be more happy to be alive. All because of this simple wonderous woman sitting next to him.

He guessed fate finally got fed up of making him miserable, and to make up for it she sent him Sugni. For that he was extreamly greateful.

After the movie was over he turned of the set.

"Great movie was'nt it, who would think that mixing a good old western with a scifi angle, would work!" He said.

"hmmm? Wh..oh yeah" she said, sounding distracted.

"What you did'nt like the movie?" He asked

"it was fine" She said. Taking a closer look at her he got a strange feeling that something was off with her. He could't put his finger on it.

"Is everything alright?" he asked

"Huh yeah, everything is fine why?"

"I don't know you seem distracted"

'No...I am good, why would you think that" She said giving him a strange look.

"Hmmm" Ok that was weired.

"You know what?" she said

"What?'

"I think that you were really into the movie...seeing things and all!' She laughed.

"OH? Are you saying I am crazy?"

"I don't know, are you?" She retorted.

"About you , yes" he answered pulling her closer to him.

"Ohh Really?" she said wrapping her hands around his neck

"Ummhmmm" he said placing his forhead against hers

"Prove it" She said

"Name it"

"Dance with me?"

He looked at her surprised. "Really? That's it?"

"Why to challenging for you?" She joked

"No, but I thought you'd come up with something better than that." He said

"There is nothing better than that!" She smiled.

"You wish'" standing up he extended his hand toward her , which she took, walking over he turned on the radio, to a soft contemporary station. They began swaying gently to the music. Her head resting on his shoulder , she sighed.

"What?"

"Nothing" She said, "Just perfect"

That strange feeling was back again.

"So what you think?" He asked as he led her inside the brand new building. It took close to five months to complete the new restaurant, from conception to construction. The final touches were being put in place for the grand opening in a few days.

The new building, now named Gulabiya's, as a tribute to her mother, was a combination of elegance and fast dining. It was sectioned into two halves, one half opened and run as the old establishment catering to the regular daily crowd, and the other half that would cater to a more elegant dining experience.

The design of the buiding combined the two in a way that it looked classy and elegant. Sugni was blown away by it.

Sugni kept her self busy learning the in's and out of running her new business, selecting staff, finalizing the colors and all the fine details that needed to be seen to. As the time came closer for the opening, she got more excited and nervous. Truth be told so was he, he knew how much this ment to her and he hoped with all his being that it did indeed become a success.

Vickram kept himself busy, getting back in the swing of things, he missed alot in the past year, and although his brother did an excellent job, there was just a certain satisfaction in overseeing everything himself. Conference calls, e-mails and the occasional visit to the office got him ready for his old life, although it was not so old.

Going back home on occasion, he got to spend time with his niece, Payal, who was growing like a weed. She already had him wrapped around her finger, with her chubby cheeks, curly hair and dimpled smile. Watching her awakened in him the desire to have a family of his own someday. Soon he hoped...thinking of the surprise he had planned and had a hard time keeping mum about it so long!.

"This looks sooo beautiful!" Sugni said as she walked around, he new color scheme of red black and white, tied in beautifully with the small sunshine emblems that was unique to Sugni.

"Everything is set?" she asked.

"More or less, the electricians still have a few touches to make but should be done by tomorrow, the security guys will be in later to set up the system. Other than that I think we all ready! Then we have a meeting final meeting with the new staff, and then we are good to go for the Grand opening on Monday! "

Vickram you really thought about everything. " she said teary eyed. "I never would have been here if it was'nt for you" She said.

"Hey, don't start that again!" He said...He lost count over how many times she said thank you.

She stayed quite, which surprised him. He did'nt know what it was but some times he got the feeling that something was bothering her. He could not put his finger on it, because he really could not find anything odd in her behavior. Except some times she would get all quite, or look so sad. He tried asking her about it but she would always turn it into a joke. Then he figured, she was probably missing her mother again and maybe she wanted to keep those thought private. So he left it respecting her privacy, knowing if she wanted to talk she would. He did'nt like seeing her sad though.

A few hours later they were home, Sugni was off making dinner, and Vickram was supposed to be looking over some documents . but was instead busy planning his surprise. He was brought out of his silent planning session , by Sugni handing him the phone.

"Bushan." She s answered his silent question.

"Hey bro." He said

"Hey, So I talked to the relator today, due to some mix up the one you wanted has been sold to some one else.?

"Sold? Darn ... that house was perfect."

"Well she said that she has two more available if you want to have a look.'

"Hold on let me fax over the details"

"Ok"

'Sugni, can you get the fax coming through please?" He called to her , in the Kitchen, where the fax machine was located.

A few minutes after she walked in hading him the two pices of paper.

"Thank you!" He said looking it over.

"Ohhh, Mom would love the second one!" He said "It has a back spacious back yard, for her gardening, and a downstairs bedroom, " he said.

'Yeah..well I am guessing your leaning to that one?"

"I like it..but let me think for a bit"

"Meaning sees what she thinks huh?" Bushan laughed

'yeah"

"OK don't take to long, it's not easy finding sutable properties in the area."

"I know , it's been months and all I got was three choices to date! "

He hung up the phone. He needed to make a decision and fast. So he better get to it.

Making his way to the kitchen, he found it empty, the pot on the stove was off, yet the contents looked uncooked. That was odd. The back door was opened.

With a growing feeling of unease, he walked put side looking for her..

He found her at the back standing leaning on the plum tree that stood in the middle of the yard. Her arms was wrapped around her middle and it was obviuse to him she was crying.

Alarmed, he placed a arm on her shoulder

"Sugni??"

Chapter 22 is awesome.👏 Its soo realisitic.
