love me like you do
You're the light, you're the night
Meher was sitting in her room absent-mindedly twisting the ends of her hair. The moonlight that was streaming in through the open windows was the only light in the room that allowed her to see. She liked it when it was like this. The full white moon hanging so grand. The vast black blanket being dotted with golden, twinkling stars. The winding singing so sweetly. The air making her skin crawl with goosebumps with its chill.
She trailed her fingers against the length of her arm as she soaked in the atmosphere around her. It was so pleasant that she grinned. She rarely got the opportunity to enjoy the peace and quiet like this. To be by herself and just give time to relax and recuperate from the tired day.
Meher took in a deep breath and closed her eyes. She was collecting her hair together to put it in a bun when her hand brushed the back of her neck. She opened her eyes and slowly lingered her fingers over the tattoo.
Abeer.
He still has such an important presence in her life. Being in love with Abeer was one of the most ditzy things she had ever done. She shook her head smilingly, as she recollected every decision she made while in love with him. Prior to meeting him, her one aim used to be to work so hard and build herself up to a successful career woman. All so that her family wouldn't have to suffer or be dependent on anyone else ever again. While those aspirations had remained the same when she had met Abeer, she had started to make a lot of selfish decisions.
One of them being getting his name imprinted on the back of her neck. Meher giggled as she remembered the day she was getting the tattoo. She had been so determined, confident and not to mention excited about having it done. She had wanted to surprise Abeer for once considering he was always going out of his way to make her feel special.
Meher brought her to the front, allowing Abeer's name to be exposed to the world. She covered her face, laughing, as she recalled how scared she had gotten when she finally saw the needle that will imprint her. She had fainted instantly and had been awoken with Abeer by her side.
She had weakly, but cutely (according to Abeer), had said, "Surprise!" before fainting again.
After that, she had gotten the tattoo imprinted on her with Abeer holding her hands and telling her weird stories to distract her from the pain. He had teased her so much that day. First about how scared she had gotten, then about how she had fallen so deeply in love that she had forever joined his name to herself.
You're the color of my blood
"Thinking about me?" Abeer whispered by her ear.
Meher looked up surprised, her smile disappearing. When she turned around, she saw Abeer sitting beside her on his knees, with his trademark grin plastered on his face.
"What are you doing here?" Meher asked not in the least bit interested in fighting with him.
She simply was not in the mood today. She was too happy living in the past memories for now.
"I was getting bored. Tunnu's asleep, Sasuma and Buaji are watching some ghissi phitti rhone dhone wali film. So, you were the only one left that I could come and bother. Hope you weren't too busy." Abeer leaned against the headboard and twirled a pillow around.
Meher took a deep breath and squinted her eyes. Shaking her head, she slid up next to him and rested her head on his shoulder.
"No, not really. Was just thinking." She took the pillow from Abeer and started playing with the corners of it.
Abeer on the other hand, was stunned with how responsive Meher was behaving.
"Are you feeling okay?" He asked cautiously.
"Yeah. Are you?" Meher asked, shifting her body away from him in case he wasn't.
"Then why..." Abeer trailed off unsure of how he should phrase his question.
"Why what? You came here to bother me right, so bother me." Meher challenged, sliding back up against him.
"Actually, I like this." Abeer said softly, tucking her in closer to himself.
Meher hid her blush in his embrace.
"Correction," Abeer raised a finger, "I like this a lot." He grinned.
"And what else do you like?" Meher asked, looking up at him.
Gazing into her eyes, he got lost.
You're the cure, you're the pain
"What else do you like Abeer?" Meher asked again.
Abeer ghosted his fingers around the edge of her face, outlining it softly.
"I..." He began but then stopped.
Abeer hugged her closer to himself, not quite believing Meher was in his arms. Meher rested her head on his chest and shut her eyes. It has been far too long since they both were like this. Breathing as one.
"Meher," Abeer whispered into her hair.
"Hmm," She lazily answered.
"Tum, teekh toh ho na?" Abeer asked her genuinely this time.
Meher, understanding the sincerity behind his question this time, opened her eyes. It will be hard for her to say the truth, because even she hasn't been able to understand what she's been feeling as of late. All that pain, anger and hatred that had been arisen because of Abeer leaving her had subsided over the years. She had begun to feel numb when matters came to Abeer. Dealing with them as matter of facts rather than emotions. But then occasionally, during moments like this, she falls in love all over again.
"Abhi teekh hoon." She answered truthfully, wrapping her arms tightly around his waist.
You're the only thing I wanna touch
Abeer trailed his fingers against the skin of Meher's arm and felt her body rise and fall. His every breath responded to hers and it was the most beautiful feeling in the world.
Meher shifted slightly as Abeer's touch left her tingling. She gulped and fisted the cloth of his shirt in her hand. It had been so long since she had been held like this. A terrible ache had started to grow within her.
Never knew that it could mean so much, so muchEight years had gone by since Meher had been touched so intimately. She had learnt how to not crave for Abeer in the middle of the night. The warmth she would get on cold nights, the surprise tight hugs, the spontaneous dances. Everything. But then he touched her and the crave began to eat her out. It gnawed at her chest and against her skin, wanting to come out and consume everything in its path.
You're the fear, I don't care
Abeer took in a deep breath to take in Meher's familiar scent. Ever since they separated, he would have never thought that he would get the chance to be with Meher again. To be in the same space, the same proximity, to be so intimate. But now, having her in his arms, Abeer washed away all those doubts.
Meher was in his embrace and was breathing him in. Was listening to his heartbeats and was feeling the same ache as he was.
'Cause I've never been so highSilently, daring himself, Abeer plants a small kiss on top of Meher's head. He was surprised when Meher raised her head closer to him, as if wanting more. In response, Abeer tightened his hold on her and nudged her head with his cheek.
Follow me through the dark
Meher nudged Abeer's cheek with her head and brushed her lips slightly against it, daring Abeer to respond the same.
Let me take you past our satellites
Abeer shifted their bodies so that Meher was straddling him, her forehead resting upon his. Entwining their hands, they both wished to lose themselves in the past. Become the Meher and Abeer they once were.
You can see the world you brought to life, to life
Meher opened her eyes and gazed into Abeer's. Whenever Abeer wasn't in her life, the world would appeared foreign. It will be moving and continuing on with life, but Meher would remain aloof. Never fully taking part in its day to day happenings.
But when he's around, everything changes. She's more active, happier, vibrant. Alive.
So love me like you do, lo-lo-love me like you do
Unable to wait any longer, Abeer raised his head the same moment Meher lowered hers, to kiss each other.
Love me like you do, lo-lo-love me like you do
As they kissed, they re-ignited the flames within their bodies that had been extinguished for the past eight years. The passion, the crave for each other's bodies, the deep ache that had been sprouting deep within their cores, were all being familiarized.
Touch me like you do, to-to-touch me like you do
A smile spread across their faces which soon erupted into laughter. Parting their lips for a few moments, they removed each other's shirts. Meeting their lips again, softly, teasingly, Abeer flipped Meher over so that he was on top of her.
What are you waiting for?
They gazed into each other's eyes once before conveying a silent consent to reunite their love.
