SHOWTIME 1
Abeer please answer your calls. I know that you regard me as Hitler Malhotra and not your father Kabir Malhotra. But I AM YOUR FATHER and I HAVE THE AUTHORITY to take decisions about your life. I know what is good for you. You will study MBA and not music. This was the third business school from which you've been rusticated. So I've been smart for you. I've spoken to my friend Satish Sahani who is the Dean of SSM Institute of Management, Kodaikanal. Do what you will, you will never be able to get rusticated from this business school. At last I'm going to see the degree of MBA after your name in two years. You might be thinking, what if I don't join at all, or if I run away...Don't even think about it! You know how weak your mother's heart is...So I expect that you'll be in time for the bridge course wherever you are now...I keep a track on all your credit card transactions. So I exactly know where you are now. Next time see to it that I don't receive a voice mail message and I speak to you in person...man to man.
"So that was my father for you. A Hitler Malhotra to the core. If there was a person who could manipulate even his own son, it was him...business magnate, Kabir Malhotra. You must have realized by now the bone of contention between me and my father. He wanted me to do MBA while I wanted to pursue a career in music. My father came to Mumbai with a capital of thousand rupees and dreams of millions. After twenty five years he had the millions of bank balance in reality. But he never realized that I too had dreams of my own. And that those dreams were necessarily not consonant with his dreams. I too wanted millions but I wanted to win a million hearts with my music. While I was a rebel to the core, I was going to meet someone that day who was the epitome of discipline and order, the keeper of the rule book, the topper of the batch, the perfect mystery, and my muse Meher Purohit. I know that many of you don't listen to the old classics. But they happen to be my all-time favorites. Here's one such wonderful song for you.
Mere saamne waali khidki mein
Ek chaand ka tukda rehta hai
Afsos ye hai ke vo hamse
Kuchh ukhda ukhda rehta hai
Mere saamne waali khidki mein
Ek chaand ka tukda rehta hai
Jis roz se dekha hai usko
Ham shamaa jalaana bhool gaye
Dil thaam ke aise baithe hain
Kahin aana jaana bhool gaye
Ab aath pahar in aankhon mein
Vo chanchal mukhda rehta hai
Mere saamne waali khidki mein
Ek chaand ka tukda rehta hai
(Barsaat bhi aakar chali gayi Baadal bhi garaj kar baras gaye) -2
Par uski ek jhalak ko ham
Ai husn ke maalik taras gaye
Kab pyaas bujhegi aankhon ki
Din raat ye dukhda rehta hai
Mere saamne waali khidki mein
Ek chaand ka tukda rehta hai
Afsos ye hai ke vo hamse
Kuchh ukhda ukhda rehta hai
Mere saamne waali khidki mein
Ek chaand ka tukda rehta hai
You might be wondering what is the connection between Meher and the song which you heard just now? Keep on thinking. A little bit of brain work will not do you any harm. It's time for a break. But coming up on the other side of this break is how I and Meher met each other for the first time."
