Ok i dont want to offend anyone but usually people marry in the same castes right. In this show it shows how no one cares what caste or religion whoever is, which is nice, but in reality there are usaully a lot of problems if people marry people that are noe the same caste as them. Anyone agree?

It depends if you really believe in the caste system. Intercaste marriages are too common these days.

I agree I think that was one of the reasons as well (gurpreet being sikh)

I never felt that was the issue. I felt it was because she is a very quiet, reserved person and Gurpreet had a little too much spark. Gurpreet is known to be blunt for better or worse, and that wasn't a quality she appreciated. Eventually the dislike got worse and we all know what happened.

The fact that she might dislike Gurp because she is a sikh has never even been hinted on the show, I was surprised how someone mentioned it one day and now that's all everyone mentions. Why is it so easy to ignore what Yash's mom said on the first day about her future bahu.

mayb because she din't want to come out with that fact. we know that many millions of people are watching and judges are there. she din't want to take out this issue in front of evryone. I don't say this is the main problem but can be one of them. I think she liked Nandita not for her nature but because she was a doctor.

Caste is a very sensitive issue in India even today, it is often said that caste only went away on paper, not in pplz minds...and this is true to some extent......I fee that either some families are open for inter-caste marraiges, or they are not...and if they don't happen to be open-minded on the issue...there is no use trying to convince them...coz it's like casting pearls in front of a swine...they still think that their way of thinking is right.....it's a tricky subject with no right or wrong answer....ppl can talk big about caste means nothing , and all humans are one....which is lovely to hear, but in everyday life, such small things only can become big battlegrounds....It's true that more and more inter-caste marraiges are taking place in India today, but only those marriages are truly happy, where the parents agreed and open-mindedly accepted the union....

I do feel that on some level, caste was on yash's mom's mind, when it came to gur.....but here's my take on the topic.....other than raj's mom...all the other mom's would have had some problem with the caste factor...but they didn't have to face it, coz their son wasn't pursuing gur....if you look at vivek's intro..in the boy's profiles on IF....he has clearly said that he is only interested in upper caste girls, and religion is also an issue for him......and i'm sure even gaurav's mom was of the same opinion....and gur is sikh...which is a diff religion altogether, so that's an even bigger diff....so maybe that played on her mind somewhere....but all i feel is, if someone isn't open minded already, you can;t make them.....unfortunately for gur, the only other punjabi/sikh boy on the show, is taken....infact gur was a 1000 times better than pri, for raj, but aah well...

Even if caste was in her mind we will never know for sure unless we are psychics. It was never hinted. Not even once. I would understand for Gaurav's mom though.
Yash eats non veg but he does it when his mom is not around. She felt bad that Gurprit ate it because Gurprit planned to be her bahu. If I was a mom and I saw other moms' prospective DILs were staying away from nonveg in the house to show respect and my prospective bride didn't care I would definitely feel offended. Even if I wasn't offended the matter would somehow cause me displeasure. I don't totally blame Gur but those little things add up. At the time Nandita wasn't interested in her son so it's not the same.
I always felt for Yash's mom all of it comes down to respect. So far everything she has said comes down to it.

yea gur is working as an assistant director for yashraj...atleast that's what her profile says, so maybe yash's mom objected to that as well...also gurpreet's sharp tongue, which evetually cost her the guy, also was a problem......as far as nandita's being a doc is concerened....it's common in middle class india, to prefer well-educated girls, and education is often rated above wealth, and looks....so no surprise there....
I felt bad for gurpreet today when she said " Ek din ki galati ki sazaa mujhe mil rahi hai"......but that's what happens in life...when u talk without thinking......you lose relationships, you lose ppl, she leart that lesson the hard way......i could see that she still likes yash, my heart goes out to her, she's only 21.....she has a long way to go in life....by yelling at yash's mom like that on tv, she completely lost any possibility of mending fences with his mom.....had she just clamly talked to yash abt the issue b4, making that scene on stage, maybe things could have been worked out...but no self-respecting boy, would even look at a girl who he barely knows, and who has just insulted his mom ruthlessly, so yash did the only thing he could do, which is ignore her......today gur herself mentioned that yash's mom is acting normal with her, this is because she now knows, that yash, has stopped seeing gur, so she has no issues with her....her only thing was that didn;t see gur as her DIL...and that she had a right to say....
