It depends if you really believe in the caste system. Intercaste marriages are too common these days.
I never felt that was the issue. I felt it was because she is a very quiet, reserved person and Gurpreet had a little too much spark. Gurpreet is known to be blunt for better or worse, and that wasn't a quality she appreciated. Eventually the dislike got worse and we all know what happened.
The fact that she might dislike Gurp because she is a sikh has never even been hinted on the show, I was surprised how someone mentioned it one day and now that's all everyone mentions. Why is it so easy to ignore what Yash's mom said on the first day about her future bahu.Originally posted by: Perfangel5655

Caste is a very sensitive issue in India even today, it is often said that caste only went away on paper, not in pplz minds...and this is true to some extent......I fee that either some families are open for inter-caste marraiges, or they are not...and if they don't happen to be open-minded on the issue...there is no use trying to convince them...coz it's like casting pearls in front of a swine...they still think that their way of thinking is right.....it's a tricky subject with no right or wrong answer....ppl can talk big about caste means nothing , and all humans are one....which is lovely to hear, but in everyday life, such small things only can become big battlegrounds....It's true that more and more inter-caste marraiges are taking place in India today, but only those marriages are truly happy, where the parents agreed and open-mindedly accepted the union....
I do feel that on some level, caste was on yash's mom's mind, when it came to gur.....but here's my take on the topic.....other than raj's mom...all the other mom's would have had some problem with the caste factor...but they didn't have to face it, coz their son wasn't pursuing gur....if you look at vivek's intro..in the boy's profiles on IF....he has clearly said that he is only interested in upper caste girls, and religion is also an issue for him......and i'm sure even gaurav's mom was of the same opinion....and gur is sikh...which is a diff religion altogether, so that's an even bigger diff....so maybe that played on her mind somewhere....but all i feel is, if someone isn't open minded already, you can;t make them.....unfortunately for gur, the only other punjabi/sikh boy on the show, is taken....infact gur was a 1000 times better than pri, for raj, but aah well...

mayb because she din't want to come out with that fact. we know that many millions of people are watching and judges are there. she din't want to take out this issue in front of evryone. I don't say this is the main problem but can be one of them. I think she liked Nandita not for her nature but because she was a doctor.
