Also, in Balika Vadu, the marriage was between two children which is more digestible than a marriage between an adult and child. An adult marrying a child, no matter what the reason, and no matter what the intention, is pedophilia, even if the adult has no romantic feelings for the child.

I wonder how many people would be okay with this show if the adult was a man and the child was a girl. A grown man marrying a 9-year old girl would be seen as creepy and gross, which it totally is, but I don't understand why a grown woman marrying a 9-year old boy isn't disgusting, because it's the same for me.

Now, if Diya had married Ratan after he reached 18 years, I wouldn't care, because the age gap isn't a big deal. It's the fact that she's a friggin adult right now marrying a small child. That's just plain wrong.

Agree, the problem is that the adult child marriage counts as grooming a child because she has control over him. In the eyes of the world Diya is the adult and should know better, Ratan is a child impressionable and easy to manipulate.

After all its fiction. They have the right to show it. Indian audiences are very mature now. Indian soaps had shown girl child marriage, selling girls before. No body complaints that time. In crime petrol they are showing worse things. Which is fiction based on reality. And people are after this show only. Basically the developing ngo people have no work to do.

Funny how people are bringing Law and order into this, because if it existed, then deeya would be in jail for marrying a minor. fans of the show and writers alike use the law whenever it is convenient. Instead of wasting time by making life difficult for deeya, the in-laws can just march to the nearest police station to file a report against her, but of course the law is conveniently ignored there as well.

Because Child marriage is still rampant in smaller parts of india, it is even more important that daily soaps do not normalize it. Gulaal and Vallika vadhu did not romanticize, but condemned child marriage. In gulaal, kesar was sent away to boarding school and even the villagers were appalled. In both of the shows, concepts like suhaag raat or honeymoon were not mentioned, jagya-Anandi and Gulal-kesar did not share the same room or the same bed. None of it was glorified as a noble sacrifice, and that is why the shows did not cause an uproar. The justification "she did it it protect him" falls flat because it is not a strong enough reason to marry a freakin;9 year old.

the Writers, channel, and producers knew this was a controversial subject but did not bother to handle it sensitively. otherwise, this level of backlash would not have occurred.. Showing a sweet friendship between an 18 year old and 9 year old is cute but not when it is in context of marriage.

Very well explained. 👏
But some idiots here are even open to the idea of infants marrying senior citizens. I don't think they'll ever understand it.

Thanks, for all your opinions and online petition and tweets and fb posts, the BCCC did not find enough reasons to take the show off air. Bottomline, the show is not illegal. You can hate it, but it is still on TV.

Hi
Its not that I am supporting child marriage...but for this story..it would be an extreme opinion to call or tag it under pervert...that's not the right opinion without watching it actually...I too was against all the promos showed...but still watched this out of curiousity to understand the content...and I find it pretty different to what the promos conveyed..in the sense the wife is all focused on protecting the child and trying her best to find out the culprits behind his parents death...ensuring the child is under safe hands with the enemies in the same roof...they are showing how this innocent girl is learning to handle the huge wealth, mansion, business while the child is a minor...so pervert would not be the appropriate conclusion or word without knowing what the content is...just my POV

Just because she is taking care of the business etc doesn't make her any less pervert. So basically what you are saying is values and morals have no place as long as they show some irrelevant things to support their regressive garbage .

Kahani dekhi nahi ki logo ko "pervert" kehena shuru kar dete hain. Reminder - authorities did not find anything to ban it. So Aunty-jis who are jealous of Tejaswi ji because she is so pretty and charming, just grab a fosters and for heaven's sake give your overheated brains some peace.
