Of course Kools all these things happen. In my country and around the world, terrorists perform the most vile of heinous crimes doing grotesque things even to tiny babies and children, as well as innocent men and women. It is an awful ugly reality. But do i want to watch it on a light romantic love show?

More importantly is it ethically responsible to show this kind of thing and nuance it to be ..ahh such is life ...on a television show that attracts young people? This is not a movie with guidelines for adults only, or content warning.

No matter what happens here, Ekta's track record at making rape just another thing that boys do, is already well established. And. whatever was left of the PR story, which wasn't much, has gone completely down the tubes.

This rape was shown of convenience. Mansi's saree/lengha veil was intact and she had no disturbance in her hair and no debris or mittie on her body. I think that he must have gone as far as taking his clothes off and passed out because Mansi was not shown getting up or so.

Perhaps Ekta wants to hear the public's reaction and then take the next step.

Tulsey that thought occurred to me too, but to be frank, it's too late. And how sick is that anyway? Too much damage has already been done. There is not enough damage control to now make it ok and the show continue.

Zee should cancel the show. Period.

This is what i posted in my thread . Posting it here . Btw there might be quite a few who do NOT perceive it as a light romantic show , coz uptill now ALL the social evils have been shown . Dowry
[ During Archana's marraige the demand for gold] Rape [ Ajit Vandu ] alcoholism and its effects on family [ Damodar and Soham ] bigamy [ Dharmesh ] etc .

See , she is in a business ...what business ? Providing entertainment by tapping into people's emotions and making money . She shows death of babies in every serial and makes a lot of money by selling that rona dhona . Each lead heroine suffers and seeing her suffering brings in TRPS and money . You see she is in the business of selling suffering and making money , why will she let a social crime like rape that shows suffering of a woman go ? Poverty , rape , domestic abuse , alcoholism r all sufferings and she will definetely show it and make money . People get very scared of horror movies but they see them although they sit with a blanket to cover their eyes . They actually have a market ! Same way , people cry but watch when deaths of children r shown , give gaalis to the rapist but watch the episode with hands on their chest saying omg omg . That day the TRPs r the highest . yesterday nobody wanted to watch Naren Ankita's 'smile' session , but were wanting to see Raunaq Manasi scene .

Regarding Vandu ...in a sense Ekta shows reality . Khaap panchyats even today order women to marry their rapists . One can protest and say but this is not a khaap panchayat village , this is middle class , but were not maximum dowry burning cases in educated middle class ? The middle class is a classic victim of such social pressure and the reality in India today is money talks and bullshit walks . Ajit was rich and Rasika manipulated all in her son's favour by that money AND emotional blackmail of future pressure by showing Vandu the mirror . Vandu listened coz she believed in it . She was living that reality day in and day out . Thousands of middle class women endure marital rape and stay put in their marraiges for the sake of their children . They don't do a Lorena Bobbit or police cases or go back to maika , for them its a way of life and the language of scars on the soul is a luxury to them as they are fighting for brutal survival.

Should rape never be shown after the Dehi rape case ?

If it is shown is it glorifying it ? It was shown before .

Is the effect of rape as shown ...like Vandu marrying Ajit regarded as glorifying rape or is reality been shown in a commercial way ?

Should serials only show fiery women doing Lorena Bobbits or court cases on rapists after this or have a free hand in making their own story which is surreal AND blended with a tinge of reality ?

should viewers deny seeing social evils coz it horrifies them personally and should this be some compulsion on the film maker ?

Many questions need to be answered .

I personally feel nobody's creative freedom can be controlled .Yes , we can control ourselves , we can switch the TVoff if it goes against our personal likes or dislikes .

Speaking personally for myself i take it with a pinch of salt ...neither do horror movies affect me nor violence nor rape scenes . I watch all . Anything realistic and i watch it , does not mean i like it or condone it , its merely tolerance level .

At this moment RAPE is a highly sensitive issue, if it was shown in another context (positive for the girl) then it would have looked or seem fine but it has been shown in the negative context and that is what makes it seem as though it is being glorified.

I dont think it should be banned from television etc but I think that the producers/writers/creatives should be more conscious of their environment and how to approach such stories as it is just not the right time for such a situation by all means. Had they shown Mansi to be strong and fight for herself, then it would have been perfect as you want to heighten awareness of the issue and shed some light on how young girls/women can avoid it.

Ekta should be ra#*
She needs to feel the pain of women who have gone through it. If any one had been raped and is watching this show, just imagine how she will relive her own ordeal.
Rawnaq seems to be less worried of what he has committed.
Stupid Mansi for telling on him to Kinnari. She should have told Ankita. Now everyone will know anyways.

This serial will never learn.
We should ban this serial collectively and send out strong message to the telly reporters.

Lekin pain kab feel ho yeh pata hai? Jab khud Bhi usi pain ke taste in se CHALE tab . I wish ki ekta Bhi rape ka anubhav kartein. 😡 Sorry to say...but u know naa

Well, I think it's important to see the reason why this twist was used for Mansi's character. The reality is, rape happens EVERYDAY in India and elsewhere in the world & the truth of the matter is men believe they have the upper hand when it comes to women, so they defile them and blackmail them into a space where they are left helpless and believe themselves to be worth no character or value any longer. I do not know where this track is going in terms of Mansi being raped, however right now I find it to be VERY realistic. Coming from a mother who was raped and hearing her story, whatever they are showing is plainly and simply the truth. I hope that they take Mansi's character and take it from being weak at the moment to strong and confronting her rapist, however looking at all of the forums I find it very disheartening to see so many people posting of how disappointed they are with Mansi's character. I find that it just proves the archaic and old fashioned view that if a woman is raped and taken advantaged of they're already a "disappointment" and "no longer pure and appealing". I find that given the Indian culture which nowadays seems to condone raping, it is extremely important to show scenarios like this to get women talking to their daughters, father's educating their daughters to protect themselves, etc. I honestly don't see why Indian dramas WOULDN'T include these scenarios when it seems that our culture is in most need of this education given the acceptance we give to raping and allowing the men in our culture to think they are entitled to acts such as this. I understand aspects of it are unrealistic such as being in a full house and no one coming to check, but also realize its suppose to convey a MESSAGE, being realistic should be the least of their concerns in my opinion. Many of the comments make me absolutely angry and make me feel embarrassed to even be an Indian. " I hoped they wouldn't show this especially after the Delhi rape cases" ? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? WHY SHOULDN'T THEY? As a culture we have ALLOWED rape. Many women have not been raped so they don't understand, but I would hope they would have at least the slightest bit of humanity to understand the pain, confusion and anger that accompanies such an event. I 100'% agree with Pavitra Rishta showing the rape of Mansi. It's allowing families to come face to face with this aspect of culture they have turned a blind eye to. It will force mother's to educate their daughters, have a conversation with them about rape and fathers to educate their daughters on protecting themselves. The lack of education and the fact that India has allowed rape to be a taboo subject, CAUSED the Delhi rape cases. I could sit here and discuss how disgusted I am with some of these comments, but all I can say is, I would hope that there is humanity in the viewers to UNDERSTAND the message being conveyed, not discriminate against it, because they are ultimately the ones who allow rape to occur. & I would also hope that no one ever experiences the tragedy of being raped and if they have I sincerely pray that you find the inner strength to heal yourself and educate others on how to best protect and heal themselves against such tragedies. God bless.

Dear, I really feel for you but if you've ever watched EKTA kapoor stories then you'll know that she uses 'rape' to gain popularity of her shows. Nowhere, especially not in plain sight, is there a message.

In her shows, a woman is raped, forced to marry her rapist and forced to stay quiet.

No one on this forum is condoning anything, all they want is the right message to be portrayed. But Ekta never ever does any of that.

How is a woman being forced into a relationship with her rapist, in anyway a message?
It's wrong plain and simple.

Ekta has always shown women in the negative light, like it's their fault for being raped!

For once if only ekta shows the rapist being severely punished then the track would have gone somewhere.

One things for sure an ekta kapoor rape story is not being shown for any message, if you want a deeper meaning to something then watch hollywood movies, hell watch Bollywood movies and you'll get some sort of message.

Pavitra rishta is meaningless, always has been and always will be. You'll be disappointed if you're looking for any sort of meaning in any of ekta's shows.

So sorry to hear of your Mom's rape. But that she has survived that ordeal shows how strong she is, and that you can speak of it too - show your strength and conviction...
