Sushant's Mannat is fulfilled at last

Less than a year ago, he was just another popular television actor. Today, after a successful debut in Kai Po Che, Sushant Singh Rajput is being touted as the Gen Next star. And when Sushant made an appearance at SRK's bungalow Mannat for an Eid party, it was a moment of great pride indeed.

The actor was overhead talking to Aditya Chopra about the days when he would sit outside Mannat to catch a glimpse of his role model, King Khan.
"Like Shah Rukh, Sushant also started his career on the small screen before foraying into films. Now Sushant too is turning out to be the Yash Raj star of his generation. Being invited for the party by Shah Rukh to Mannat was indeed a proud moment for him. From waiting outside the mansion to being an honoured guest there, the tables have turned in less than a year," says a source close to Sushant.
Right now Sushant is busy gearing up for big projects such as PK and Shuddh Desi Romance. With a role model like SRK, there seems to be no stopping him. Sky is indeed the limit.

National award-winning director Buddhadeb Dasgupta's first Hindi film, Anwar Ka Ajab Kissa (2013), has Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead playing a detective. However, the filmmaker insists that the film is not a mystery thriller. "It is not a typical detective film, but about the life of a sleuth," he says, adding that his younger daughter Alokananda Dasgupta who gave the music for the critically acclaimed BA Pass (2013) recently, has scored for this one too.

Dasgupta who has been busy editing the film with Oscar Award winner Resul Pookutty in Mumbai, acknowledges that even though detective stories are the flavour of the season, he had thought of

Anwar two years ago when there were no others films in the genre on the scene. But now Dibakar Banerjee is making his most expensive film in collaboration with Yashraj Films on Byomkesh Bakshi with Sushant Singh Rajput playing the young detective from 1942 Kolkata.

Meanwhile, the trailer of Rituparno Ghosh's swan song Satyanweshi (2013) that he completed shooting just a day or two before his untimelydemise was released some days back. The post-production on Ghosh's last Bengali feature film was completed by his long-time assistant. The film marks the acting debut of director Sujoy Ghosh as Byomkesh. The actor has been receiving raving reviews on the social networking sites. He himself tweeted, "This is my 'inception' moment!" The film releases on August 30, 2013.

Meanwhile, Doordarshan is gearing up for a re-run of its popular tele series on Sharadindu Bandopadhyay's famous Bengali Sherlock, Byomkesh Bakshi played by Rajit Kapoor.

I have four sisters and this is probably the first year when none of them will be around me as I am busy with my film promotions.I remember I was fed up of giving them gifts every year so I decided that I would tie a rakhi to them and they would give me gifts instead.I was so thrilled because I got lots of presents!

Katrina Kaif is used to a packed diary but the actress has been on a forced sabbatical since last month with planned projects refusing to take off.
But the actress will soon return to the sets with Gattu's Bollywood adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic Great Expectations. The film had run into rough weather with producer Ekta Kapoor backing out from the project.
The actress was shooting for Bang Bang with Hrithik Roshan when the actor's brain surgery put a long halt to the schedule, which is expected to continue not before mid-November as Roshan Jr recuperates.
Katrina was now depending on Gattu to start shooting his film in September, but the plans were shelved with Ekta's withdrawal.
Gattu and Ekta reportedly disagreed over budget and profit sharing with the director demanding a 50 percent share in profits beside his fee for wielding the megaphone. However, Ekta and Abhishek parted on amicable terms. There is no animosity between them.
The director had since been making the rounds of several studios with the script- before he found a saviour last weekend in UTV Motion Pictures, who had also backed his last film Kai Po Che.
A source told Mirror, "Gattu's expectations have been met, but partially as buzz is that he has now been offered a 20 percent share in profit, if any."
