I also was confused at that. It was known by everyone there that Purvi is the mother...except maybe Pandit doesn't know and it would be embarrassing to try to explain it?

The precap was a little confusing to me also as when Soham said he chose Soham Deshmukh everyone looked concerned or serious and not happy. Oh well, we know how precaps are.
