Dear Pallavi,

You might like to take a look at my response above to Vasu, as I do not want to have to retype any of that here.

I read the article you had kindly flagged for me, and while it does say that the new focus will be on the resurrected Archana and Manav (that was predictable, for without that being promised, they would not have found any actress ready to step into Ankita's shoes), there is not a word about ArVi, and this despite its coinciding with the new promo. One would have thought that BT would have been tomtomming the great news. Curious.

Anyway, I am not getting het up about any of this. I am not enthused by the prospect of a jaded ArVi and their progeny cootchy - cooing to each other, or in Gautami Kapoor (who generally looks petrified, and had perfected that look in SOTY) romancing the weedy Hiten, and even less in Soham and this terrified medico (sounds like the title of a Perry Mason novel).

So, if PR moves along the lines you are anticipating, it will be a good thing for me, for I will leave and spend the vast amount of time thus saved on a 11 volume 1829 mint condition collection of all the Waverley novels of Sir Walter Scott, and on Saraswartichandra and DKD Mahadev. It sounds so good already!

Dear Shyamala Di,

ArVi reuniting wont be curtains for PR. Ekta has other plans for the show. New Archana is entering the scene, Gautami Kapoor (she and her hubby Ram are Ekta's favorite couple in TV-land) so now Ekta will concentrate on new Archu and Manav's prem kahani and Soham's love story and Teju-Sunny-Ruchi-Jignesh quadrangle!

If you read this article, it clearly indicates Ekta's plans:

Ankita left Ekta high and dry so now ego-driven Ekta's priority will be to establish the new couple, Hiten and Gautami as Manav-Archana. 😆Besides, PR still has good TRPs so no chance of ending right now.

I agree with you regarding Onir's possible fate. He will probably be disposed of by the Mafia don, Kinshuk, after the Face-Off operation. Poor Onir, all his nobility and devotion goes unrewarded!

Botched up operation...😆 Yup, Onir isnt a plastic surgeon so he can make a horror mask out of Kinshuk's face.😆
Anyway, Purvi stopped using her baby voice after that annoying episode. 😆

Ovi will be back after the 5 yr leap or 10 yr leap. Goodness, ArVi will be parents of a 10 yr old! Archu and Manav will be grandparents of 10 yr olds! I hope not 20 yr leap! That will be too much! 😆
I suggest the drug scenario...body packing or hiding drug packets in body parts which need to be cut out by surgery. Lots of possibilties, I like making wild guesses! 😃

Dear Shyamala, sorry for doing the disappearing act, was kinda busy yesterday. Too late to the party, I see but enjoyed the exchange between you guys. The most likely scenario is the prediction posted by a fellow member on another thread - that Onir has terminal cancer and Dr. K is his treating doc, and that Onir on his deathbed will re-unite Arjun and Purvi. That would explain his love for Purvi from afar, his loving sacrifices for her without any expectations for himself, swarag sudhaarne waala hai. It would be a nice twist if he somehow recovers from this terminal illness and resurrects as the Dr. Onir Dutt of yore, the Kolkata humanitarian.

Shyamala, I watched the epi today and had to laugh out loud recalling your description of the poor girl who plays Gauri. Have not watched the Kinshuk lady yet and don't know who she is or how she looks. I am sure that is a treat in store. 😉

Janhvi my dear,

How I admire your unflagging energy and your never say die attitude towards PR! Do watch the one about La Kinshuk by all means, and tell me if you agree with my backside-of-a-bus face and rat trap mouth descriptions.

I somehow do not believe that it will be a terminal disease solution for Onir. It is too nice and clean for these CVs, who like nothing so much as wallowing in the muck, pre-marital trysts by the second leads, illegitimate parenthood , all sorts of cross connections, and now undoubtedly something incredibly nefarious for Onir. ArVi now look so jaded and pathetic that I cannot muster up even an iota of interest in their separate or joint fate(s).

And Ovi seems to be a cognac aficionada - for that bottle is exactly like the Courvoisier VSOP one, and I should know! Methinks that the CVs do not know the difference between a whisky bottle, even a single malt one, and a cognac bottle. And I am sure they have not even heard of a cognac snifter. Whoever heard of anyone, especially a girl, downing cognac by the glassful?

Now we shall see the cadaverous Gautami Kapoor swanning it with her sexagenarian spouse, throwing the newly wed ArVi into the shade, for that must have been written into her contract. If i were not for his being too expensive for PR. Ekta would have brought in all the 240 pounds of Ram Kapoor too, perhaps as Purvi's long lost uncle

So many delights await you all, my dear. As the new lingo goes, Enjoy!!

Vasu dear,

Ivalukku pittam oru nalum theliya porathillai. That is for sure. It is spiralling out of control, is PR, and I do not think anything can revive it, and definitely not Gautami Kapoor's Archana.

Saraswatichandra is something entirely different. It is a visually gorgeous film, and the main set seems to be straight out of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. The main leads, especially the boy Saraswatichandra, are superbly cast.

In the very carefully done, exquisite, purely cinematic introduction for him, he looks for all the world like a young Rishyasaringa. A remote, ascetic face, the face of one who is not quite of this world, whose sorrows are secret and whose joys non-existent. The girl is as aglow with inexhaustible energy as he is passive, even apathetic.

But they justify his being so more than adequately, and she is proud, self-willed, warm, loving, and incredibly obstinate. They are both exasperating, but they are real people, not like the ever oscillating vegetable duo worshipped in this forum. Even at their best, ArVi could not hold a candle to Saras-Kumud.

It is a slow serial, for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's cinematic sensibility pervades it even if he is not directing it.
There are long, lingering close ups. As in HDDCS, there is a lot of Gujarati flavour, the kite festival, the sankranth, the endless sweets and savouries, the huge mansion with endless corridors, the carved wood decor, the stained glass windows, the temple, the works. There are the usual tensions, a father who is remote and does not understand his aloof son, a wicked stepmother straight out of Central Casting, and a gaggle of aunts and uncles, parents, siblings and cousins. I like it,and infinitely better than PR, but then my taste might not be the same as yours. They had episode No. 53 yesterday.

Shyamala Aunty

Dear Aunty, I wasn't suggesting that TRPs would increase because of Arvi. It could be argued either ways. What I was suggesting is that with the additional characters being added and the sudden attempt to reunite Arvi irrespective of where the story line seems to be an desperate attempt by the CVs to stop the TRPs from spiralling down. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason for what they (CVs) are attempting to do. Have you heard of the colloquial saying "Edhai thinna Pitham theliyum?" (what can I eat to clear off this nausea"). The CVs seem to be in that situation.
I agree with you that with the current living conditions of Onir plus his suspicious past emerging, we are atleast seeing Onir who is dictating and not being dictated.
Yes, you are right, I forgot about Ovi's child. I thought she has moved on but apparently she hasn't. She could be back in Arjun's life, unless she decides to marry Romil and let him be the father of Arjun's baby as Onir did for Purvi.
Anyways, against this background, the promo is intriguing at this stage of the show.
Do you recommend SaraswathiChandra? I heard it is based on the popular book but I am very reluctant to be bitten twice. PR has given me both highs and lows of tellyworld.
