Arjun- Wh...What did you say doctor?
Doctor- (smiling) You are going to be a father real soon.
Arjun- (getting choked up) Thank you doctor. Thank you so much.
Doctor- Take proper care of her & make sure she takes her medicines on time. She needs rest now.
Arjun- (looking at Purvi smilingly who was lost in her own world of happiness) I will doctor. I will never let anything harm her.
Doctor- Well. That's everything I guess.
The doctor left & Arjun sat beside Purvi on the bed putting an arm around her shoulder. Purvi laid her head on his shoulder as tears rolled down her eyes. She softly put her hand on her stomach & Arjun laid his hand on top of hers. Both were so much caught up in their moment of parenthood that they did not hear the phone ring continuously.
Purvi- Arjun..we are going to be aai baba.
Arjun- Yes. Thank you so much Purvi.
Purvi smiled & sighed contently as she snuggled closer to Arjun. She closed her eyes in relief as Arjun stroked her hair urging her to sleep again. As she drifted off into a deep peaceful slumber, the last thing she felt was Arjun planting a kiss on the top of her head.
When Purvi woke up again, she saw that Arjun was nowhere in the room & she was securely wrapped up in a comforter. She sat up on the bed looking here & there feeling strangely disoriented. She glanced at the clock sitting on the side table & gasped in horror. It was 11:00 AM. Arjun was surely on his way to office now. How could she sleep like that? Did Arjun have his breakfast? She skipped downstairs hurriedly only to find Arjun sitting on the couch, his expression was as if somebody had died.
She went towards her & slowly put a hand on his shoulder. He looked up at Purvi & his expression changed from a solemn one to a wistful one. Purvi sat beside him.
Purvi- What happened Arjun??
Arjun- (averting his gaze) Nothing happened Purvi.
Purvi- Tell me na.
Arjun- What do I tell you?
Purvi- Why are you worried?
Arjun- I am not worried. I am fine.
Purvi- Dont lie Arjun. At least not in front of the baby. What will he learn?? Tell me Arjun. Please.
Arjun- (taking Purvi's hand in his) I had called dad to tell him about the new addition to the family. (slightly smiling). He is really happy.
Purvi- So what is the problem??
Arjun- Dad said that he had called earlier to inform us that Manav uncle landed in India today. (saying this he looked down).
Purvi- So?? That is a good news. Wow two good news in one day.
Arjun- Ovi has come to India with him.
Purvi- Oh. Okay. There is something more to it. Right?
Arjun- You really know me so well.
Purvi- I am your wife. What do you expect?? Now tell me.
Arjun- Dad said that they will come to visit us today. Ovi & Manav uncle.
Purvi- Arjun...why are you so worried about it? They are visiting us. My father & my sister are visiting us. Nothing to be worried about.
Arjun- I hope so.
Purvi rolled her eyes & got off the couch to go to the kitchen while Arjun stared at her lovingly.
