Chapter 12: Fighting Fire With More Fire
March 31st, 2012: ADK Industries, 8:20 a.m.
Okay, so AFTER last night, Arjun took me home and told me that I was lucky that no one else saw me annoying… (I think Purvi's her name…). He told me that I could annoy anyone all I want, just not while he's there to take any blame. I don't blame him. Anyways, I thought about it, and realized that I should apologize to Purvi. Then, I tell Arjun and he starts… laughing. He says that it would be better to just ignore her than to even make eye contact with her. Unless I wanted to be lectured for…. Forever. I, being me of course, didn't believe it, and so here I am today, standing around the office waiting for her to come in. Oh wait….
Purvi: *walks in*
Nikhil: Hey, excuse me! Look I'm sorry if I annoyed you too much yesterday.
Purvi: Oh… It's fine, I mean—
Nikhil: No, it's not fine. Neither were you. I'm an airhead and I'll always be because that's just me. So now let me ask you… are you okay?
Purvi: I said I was fine, and it's okay honestly.
Nikhil: See, this time it was genuine though. *smiles*
Purvi: *smiles* Well, thank you, and it's totally okay. Don't stress over it. *walks away*
Arjun was totally wrong. She's not rude or annoying… she's nice. Either he's hiding something and automatically goes into khadoos mode around her, or he's just being stupid. Good luck, Miss Purvi. Good luck.
___
Well… I wasn't expecting that. Actually, a lot has been happening that I haven't been expecting. Maybe I should live my life…. Unexpectedly. I honestly have no clue what to do anymore. It's like I'm living the same day over and over again… just worse each time. Last night when I got back, I didn't do a good job of hiding things from Aai. I just… can't tell her though. I can't tell her that I've seen my Baba, Tai, and Dada. What's weirder is… well my bosses have grown up with MY family, the family my Aai couldn't have. They don't know it though. Nobody knows what's really happening. Including me.
Office Employee: Good morning, ma'am.
Purvi: Hmm? Oh, good morning Varun. Do you have that file for me with Riya's signatures?
Office Employee: Yes ma'am. Also, Sir has called for you in his office.
Purvi: Okay. Thank you.
Great! What does HE want?
___
Okay… so she was nice to Nik. Big deal. She still hasn't turned 3 files for a project that starts tomorrow. On top of that we have 2 meetings today with 5 different presentations needing to be completed and I have no clue what's going on in my own office because she left without talking to me. I don't work that way Miss Deshmukh. I don't work that way. I'll give her so much work—so much that I'll find reasons to fire her. Wait… perfect… the conference. 4 days Miss Deshmukh. Four days.
Purvi: *walks in* You called sir?
Arjun: Yes. I did. Have a seat, Miss Deshmukh.
Purvi: *hesitantly sits down* Yes?
Arjun: *being sarcastic* It just so happened that I noticed that… well I have no clue where any of my work is.
Purvi: I have all presentations complete and set for the meetings, here are your files, and I have them all signed by Riya ma'am.
Arjun: Still. Because of events yesterday—
Purvi: Sir, I apologize. Something came up and I had to leave immediately.
Arjun: Don't interrupt me! And, Miss Deshmukh, you could've called… or looked for me first thing.
Purvi: Sir, it's not like I didn't try. I couldn't help the way things folded out yesterday. Again, I apologize for any trouble I may have caused.
Arjun: There's the problem! You did cause trouble, which is why today won't be good for either of us.
Purvi: What do you mean?
Arjun: Meaning, I have to lay down some hard ground for you. Stuff like this is never acceptable. Especially when we had loads of work to do. With things like the upcoming conference—
Purvi: What conference?
Arjun: Don't interrupt me Miss Deshmukh! The conference is what I had to lay hard ground on. According to your employee and PA contracts, I can basically expect things from you a certain way, and have the authority to make sure they come that way.
Purvi: Not when they're inhumane!
Arjun: Did you just tell me that I'm not human? You're already in such hot water, Miss Deshmukh. Very, very hot water.
Purvi: Did I tell you that?
Arjun: Indirectly.
Purvi: Well I didn't sir.
Arjun: *Control, Arjun. Control.* So. This conference is being held in four days. Along with select staff, you're required to go, considering you're the PA and employee manager.
Purvi: Okay…
Arjun: Along those lines, I inhumanely expect from you the following:
If you, Miss Deshmukh, come back with less than 4 contracts signed at the two day event, you are very much eligible for execution from work, considering past situations.
Purvi: What!?
Arjun: Right. Meaning, you have to prepare more than double the regular amount to ensure probable chances of bagging deals. All in four days. Starting tomorrow, you'll be working late hours, and will me fully in charge of the matter. I will have senior staff helping you during regular hours of the day, and that's about it.
Purvi: So basically, 2 people are going to help me work on multitudes of projects in the next 3 days technically, and they have to all be above standards set by the BA, and I get fired if I don't present them all and bag at least four.
Arjun: Exactly. Very… inhumane… right? Well, I like it.
Purvi: How the—
Arjun: Is that a complaint?
Purvi: *Control, Purvi. Control.* No. No it's not. In fact, I'll be very welcome to this challenge of yours. In fact, I myself will go above your requirements. I will come back with more than 4 contacts. Don't you worry sir. I won't be leaving anytime soon.
Arjun: Well then.
Purvi: Oh, that's right. In the future, don't expect me to step down. I'm not a quitter. I never was, and I never will. No one—not even you can change that. No one can.
Arjun: You have a very…. interesting mindset.
Purvi: Aur haan. I'll just get even more "annoying". *gets up and walks out*
Arjun: *death stare*
Well then. Looks like there's going to be an interesting game being played ahead.

Riya: Purvi, do you have a pen?
Purvi: Uh huh. Here you go.
Riya: Thanks. Um… Purvi?
Purvi: Yeah ma'am?
Riya: Don't take Arjun seriously. He's… not happy with other things going on in his life. I just want to apologize for him.
Purvi: Riya, I don't mean any harm or want to offend anyone, but how long will you keep apologizing for what he does? I'm sorry if that was mean…
Riya: No! Not at all, Purvi! I understand your viewpoint. I just don't want you to be hurt because of him.
Purvi: Thank you, and I'm not. Thanks, Riya.
Riya: No, no, no! Thank you, Purvi! *smiles*
Purvi: *How the heck are these two related?* *smiles back*

Siddarth: Kya? *talking into phone* Tera problem kya hain? Leave me alone! I've saved my butt all these years, why would I let you come to ruin that? I don't care! Look, bhai... I can't. I don't even have Seher with me and… I can't explain now. No! Don't do that! Mhm—bhai, look, I'll call you back haan?
Anushka: Kaun tha, Siddarth?
Siddarth: No one Anu…
Anushka: What kind of answer is that? Who were you talking to, seriously?
Siddarth: Viren Bhai…
Anushka: Viren? What happened? After so many years he… called?
Siddarth: Haan. It's been so long. And he's asking to come live with us. He says he needs time away—
Anushka: Let him, Sid.
Siddarth: Kya? Why? Anu, we had to give Seher to Bishnu—
Anushka: Sid, uska naam Bishnu nahin hain…
Siddarth: What? That's not his… real name? Then what?
Anushka: He was born with the name Soham.
Siddarth: Haan, haan, whatever. Anu we had to give Seher to Soham because of Rajesh. If Viren Bhai comes live with us, father would come back and try and get Seher. You know him and his philosophy for power. He doesn't want his children and grandchildren to be girls.
Anushka: Like your sister that ran away with your Mai… and then they both were never found.
Siddarth: Rajesh said Mai died. He didn't utter my sister's name. I don't even know her name. I wasn;t old enough. Anyhow… just forget it.
Anushka: Haan, but I still think that we should allow Viren here if he needs help… even if it's only for a couple of days.
Siddarth: I'll think about it…

Precap: Arvi in the office… 😉, Soham on the phone with someone…. 😕And finally… you get to know what happened between Manav/Nikhil!!! 😲
Enjoy it? Pls comment/like! :) 😃
Things to think about: What's going to happen between Arjun and Purvi now? 😕 Will Siddarth ever find peace? Or is there something else missing in the story? Why does Viren need to come back all of a sudden? What happened between Manav and Nikhil? 😲
