Kools reporting from base : Ganpati festivities in PR
Commentary will be in points today as I am busy and have seen the maha sangam episode late .
The show commenced with an aarti which the veteran actor Jeetendra did . He then gave the aarti to Pavitra Rishta couple ARMAN . And the rest followed suit is the story .
Everybody did Aarti is the story . But Savita was not seen anywhere in the festivities . I am very angry at the rubbish shown especially at Damodar doing the aarti alone like a widower . I can understand DK doing the aarti alone but Damodar did it when his wife is living with him and she is undivorced . This is against religion and an aarti is a religious activity . Is this 'punishment ' for Savita or something ? The most horrid thing in this depraved episode is that Manju and Vinod and Punni did the aarti with smiling faces ...that Archana and Manav had invited Manju who has created havoc in their marital life from day one ...that Punni who was taking sexual favours from older men and tried to break Purvi's marrige was invited but Manav's mother was not included . Why may I know ? What kind of a sanskaar is this in this asanskaari serial ? When God allows even criminals to worship him as they are his errant children who are Manav , Damodar and Archana to judge or forbid or discipline her ? Sulochana sat there supervising all like a grande dame but what about the other elder whose son is hosting this function ?
Archana did a dance to begin the show and I have to comment on the blouse given to her by the creatives for this .Granted that she wore a nau vari sari but wearing the sari to look sensual or traditional is upto who arranges the clothes for the dance . Well let me tell you that even the lavni dancers of the tamasha theater ...a folk art kept aive by them btw ...even their blouses are more traditional than the one that the dress designer designed . The amount of back shown was apalling ...the nauvari outfit should be worn in such a way before the Ganpati idol is that it looks classy . It is called 'shaleen' in Marathi . Will the creatives look up this word in the Marathi dictionary ? This is no comment on the actress's beauty ...it is however an admonishment on the creativity of the so called creatives . The actress is always beautiful ...how to show her is the problem of the CVs .
The other women ...Purvi , Teju and Ovi were purposefully kept sedate and plainer than the lead Archana is my feeling . I am willing to be corrected if I am wrong but that was the feeling viewers like me were left with . It is sad because they are lovely women too .
I am not commenting on the various actors who performed the dances . But have to give an opinion ...a dinosaurian perspective that has become almost extinct today . Was it a Ganpati festivity or a reality show ? Why the westernized dances and the western clothes when they never wear Indian clothes for their festivities but only clothes that befit the occasion ? Why the love songs in front of God ? The channels are replete with Dance India Dance , Jhalak Dikhla Jaa , Super Kids who dance , Sur Kshetra what not . Why these outfits and sensuous dances in front of God when there are hundreds of beautiful traditional songs composed on him and can be done in a classy way ? Sex ,violence is an absolute no no in front of the Ganpati idol . Baring flesh to look attractive is too ! I believe there was a song or two advocating gundaism ...when Savita the worst criminal was not included ?
The ARVI dance ...the dream sequence by Arjun was put I understand ...purposefully to garner TRPs . I divide my comments into two sections ...on the actors and the characters . The actress did not have much to dance but the actor RD is a fabulous dancer . He performed well ...in the dream dance and the Tandav dance later on .
Now for the characters ... it is downright immoral [ i say this at the cost of sounding self righteous , puritanical and prissy] to fantasize in front of God about an other woman when your wife is present . Nobody has stopped Arjun and Damodar from divorcing their wives . It is an absolute no no to kiss in front of the Ganpati idol ...yes even hands or the forehead . Rubbing noses on each other or caressing the arms and legs or burying your face in your lover's neck is sensual and sensuality has no place in a holy pooja . At least thats what we were taught .
Purvi has found out about Varsha and told Archana is the story . She now hopes that Soham too is alive .
Soham aka Bisnu Lala danced in the function too in a hippy disguise .
Varsha is in the function too with her see through ghunghats and gulal smeared on her face with Purvi hot on her trail .
Only Savita was not there . Savita who brought her three children up inspite of her husband's alcoholism . Savita who fought the world in her own crude , crass way whenever her kids were falsely accused or in trouble .
Her crime ?
She did not like her son's wife . You see miraculously strange , bad things happened in her family ever since this marraige took place .
Some can say that it is the other way around . That Archana's life was never the same because of Savita . But I am not starting any debate here . I ask only this question .
What kind of a sanskaar is it to exclude your biological mother from a holy function when she is very much living with you ?
