My dear pari,

Congratulations on such a superbly crisp, focussed and comprehensive take on the present state of affairs. You assessment of both the wretched girls in Arjun's life is impeccable.

Neither of them deserves him, and if I were Arjun, I would immediately follow your sage advice @ red.

It is another matter that neither Purvi, nor even my favourite boy Arjun deserve US, and all the caring and support we have lavished on them for the past 7 months.

I only saw Arjun's segment in today's epi because as much as I used to love Arman, it is highly painful to watch them happy when the other pair that I loved so much is in a miserable state.

Arjun and Purvi remembering each other, their words, which from Purvi;s side now sound all hollow, her promises to him and her faith and love all seems like a load of crap right now after her disastrous decision. Either ways I was happy at least they were thinking of each other.

But then, Ovi madam comes in and has the nerve to tell Arjun " I am helping you forget Purvi". Ovi;s character is getting on my nerves so swiftly that all I want is for them to show her dead or something, because that is the only way everyone will agree to Purvi-Arjun back together. The guts the woman has after destroying his life, to help him move on with her.

Arjun gives her a little racking up and then suddenly remembers mahanta devi jr's dialogue that " If you have ever loved me, give Ovi her adhikaar" so he comes back to his mush puppy self and decides to be nice to Ovi. His dialogues gave me a glimpse of despair for the ARVI track because he said he doesn't know how long it will take for him to forget her. Maybe Sameer Rane's entry will be the nail in the coffin for his love. :((( 😭

But, what I have come to understand is that ARJUN should simply leave both girls and run away. Ovi has imbibed some amazing values from god knows where, maybe her blood ( archu) maybe her upbringing ( Savita), but all she ever does is ASK people for what SHE wants. Just go, beg, ask, whimper and she HAS it all on her silver plate. She asked Purvi for Arjun , then she Asked Purvi for Archu and I am sure in the future she will BEG arjun for consummation of her hopeless marriage. So Ovi is selfish, not giving a damn about Arjun;s feelings and his misery, just wants that he is with her, shops with her, pays attention to her and roams around the city and parties with her. That is the end goal of her life.

Purvi on the other hand only asks OF arjun. She first asks him to marry her sister, then she asks him to love her back and give her adhikaar. I won;t be surprised if next she asks him to FORGET her and even ATTEND her wedding with Sameer Rane as her brother-in-law. EEEKS. So All Purvi ever does in lvoe, is ASK the other person for whatever SHE wants. The only difference is Ovi asks for herself, Purvi asks for others. But who is the loser in between = Arjun.

Hence, since one wants to control him and one wants to demand of him, he should leave both of them and probably pick a new girl who loves him, UNCONDITIONALLY. BOth ovi and Purvi have way too many CONDITIONS in love and that;s not how unconditional pure love works.

P.S - arjun could do a little hunt on the forum and he may find lots of suitable unconditional lovers for him :) 😉

This is just my take, so please don;t take offense anyone. I love ARVI and started watching the show only for them, so it kind of gets super frustrating when they just kill our hopes and disregard our opinions as fans and decide to show abosolute nonsense.

Hello Shyamala aunty,

Thank you so much for your kind words. I always follow your analysis and I must say, I am always taken aback with your depth of understanding and deconstructing every character and part. And your writing is always a delight to read!

Is it that you have stopped watching the show now since I haven't seen posts from you for a while. I always look forward to your posts and Laurie's chapters :)

No, my dear, I have not been able to stop watching PR, and in any case I am curious about how this tangle will be resolved, if ever, so I never intended to drop out. But it does take a lot of resolve to wade thru all the treacle that is being ladled out on our heads these days!

My dear Pari (I prefer this fairylike moniker to your real name), I am touched by all the very kind things you have said about my writing. For the past week or so, I have not been posting - your piece was so very good that I had relax my self-imposed ban - because a tendon in my left wrist has got so badly inflamed that it hurts a lot when I type. It is called the carpal tunnel syndrome, and I am now trying to avoid an operation by cutting down drastically on the amount of typing I do. It is a bit better, but at the slightest over-exertion, it starts up again, so I just have to be more disciplined for a while longer!

To wrap this up, I was interested by Arjun's reactions yesterday, and while the CVs can make a character yoyo any way they want. some tentative conclusions can nonetheless be drawn:

1) Arjun has no intention of trying to get out of the marriage to Ovi. This is, morally, the only right thing for him to do - the sole exit route for him would be if OVI gave him up and asked for a divorce.

Even if he had wanted a divorce - where are the legal grounds for it? He went into the marriage with his eyes wide open to please Purvi. As for the sauda, Purvi had already told him the terms plainly on the hill top - he had to marry Ovi so that her mom would get back her family. Why did he not check then as to how the latter would follow from the former?

All that was revealed to him later was that these terms had been specifically agreed upon between Purvi and Ovi. Hardly grounds that would stand up in court!

2) He is still emotionally hog tied to Purvi in terms of his complying with her demands, whence his change of tone towards Ovi after the flashback of Purvi asking him to treat Ovi as a wife.

3) Ovi has now come to terms with the fact that he still loves Purvi to desperation, and thus does not love her. She is going to wait it out.

4) If logic is followed, in due course, a familiarity effect should set in between Arjun and Ovi. But then, the CVs are allergic to logic. So they will go on inflicting this tiresome Arjun-Purvi flashbacks on us, which now merely set my teeth on edge, since they are only hollow shells, with the spirit leached out of them.

Well, that has exceed my quota for the day. Bye, my dear.

I have never been this disenchanted with a serial as yet. At least in the other serial not created by Ektha Kapoor the lovers may go through heartache but they end up together.

BTW I stopped watching PR. I read the updates during the day and tell my friend of the crap just so that they don't look at it on the television.

I want everyone I know to stop watching PR.
