thathasthu !!! May ur wish come true... because in our hearts, it all of our wish too.. but, my only concern is what is after that? they will be moved to the background... let us see.. as it is we get less of them, more recently because of the wedding..but after that again for a 1 or 2 min sections..i hope they get them back at work and show us that side of them too.. they are better of like that...and are best in that role, especially arjun..

the divorce, even I think will not happen.. because if it does, they leave for canada and then there is not much story there for Archana..and also Vishnu story is still pending. so manav has to be around for it...

Jyothi, so many ways to give them screen time and not sideline them, they could play a major role in getting ARMAN together, getting Ovi to understand, Ovi to bond with Achana, play sleuths with the Varsha/Soham story, play Cupid to Teju's and Sachin's love stories, have little tiffs of their own, etc. I would rather see them happy than them being given negative screen time.

Laurie and Jyothi, hope the storm is not too bad, stay safe.
Laurie, you are too funny, girl 😃 poor Arjun is so enamoured by his new humble self. Yes, have noticed his lisp before but not the scar, need to check it out.

Thanks Jahnvi 😃 Will certainly try!

Can't sleep yet and I got caught up in the other thread 😉

Actually I'm excited about the storm. We are hosting the RNC next week and some were joking that's why the storm's heading straight for us 🤣

Maybe I might need - oh say - a handsome guy **cough, cough, RD, cough cough** to look at to give me some sweet dreams tonight! 🤣

You need a Karan, girl, not Arjun!! Handsome, suave, sure of himself Karan, not this bacha who is so thankful he has turned a new leaf thanks to my ladli!

Look, ladies, if AK wants to get something special for the love of his life, all he has to do is to look thru his sasuma''s wardrobe, with or without her permission, and find things approximating to any of the lovely stuff she has. The one she wore when they were checking the invitation lists is a typical example. It was very good, even if it was not a Kanjeevaram.

In fact, I have often wondered who is supposed to be bankrolling Archana's endless parade of very nice costumes in PR, I mean in the script. They are not coming out of her by now non-existent office salary, that is for sure!

That pale yellow horror was fit only for an Ajmal Khan Road housewife, and don't any of you make any excuses for it! It would have made anyone look like a wilting buttercup, and Purvi looks no better. The whole shopping segment was forced and meaningless, and meant solely for the endorsement. That is why he did not go on to jewellery or even accessories. Just that one sari. God save us!

As for the 36+ times used outfit that you want to get rid of, Jyothi, the only thing to be said for it is that it is at least bright, and looks better than most of the rest of her stuff. I never saw a heroine with such a terminally modest dress sense (I almost said lousy, but who knows, Janhvi might be looking in, and then meri to khair nahin!!)

All they had to do was drape a beatiful bright saree on a mannequin, as that is all Arjun looks at anyway.. What can he do? That was the only one there :)
Even when they showed it on Purvi, it looked very pale with her complexion...

BTW, can we hire someone to steal that overused dress of hers (teal and magenta dress), so we never see it again in this life time?? PLEASE !!!!

Jyothi...that's an excellent point...that Manav has to be there for the Vishnu/Soham unfolding...
Actually, not just for the fact he is their son but i'm sure a major witness is not allowed to permanently leave...so he really needs to be there for the court case as well..

Maybe instead of a yes divorce no divorce there will just be a "postponement" ...again. buy more time...again til the writers know what they want...again...

Dear Ash,

Thanks a lot, my dear; today, I need all the moral support I can get !😉

What follows is for you and all the other certified romantics in the forum ( I was one too, but with advancing age, one gets a bit more clear-eyed, which is a great pity, but what can one do!). Before I say anything else, please rest assured that I fully approve of your seeing whatever you want to see in today's PR in general, and in the Arjun-Purvi scenes in particular. I may not be a romantic any longer, but I am not a killjoy!!

Now, after all the carefully camouflaged brickbatting I received for my take on the Arjun-Purvi dance😉 - and having only bee and Laurie for support - I went back just now and looked at it again. Here is an accurate rundown of the whole.

It was exactly 1:34 minutes from start to finish, no solo shots of Arjun, almost all combo shots of both, and far from smiling all the time, Arjun smiles only once, for about 20 seconds. A very nice smile, but one has to be accurate.

He holds her close from the back once. That is when she looks as if she is arthritic and is having trouble turning around (I do not mind tomatoes, but please make sure they are fresh ones, , so that I can use them for a salad 😉).

Yes, there is the forehead kiss at the very end . Frankly, it was not a patch on the airport scene, but I will make some concessions to your sentiments and pronounce it very good.

And yes, Purvi does close her eyes then in what one presumes is silent ecstasy. Or perhaps, being a practical girl, she is trying to remember where precisely her bindi was, and whether Arjun's expression of TLC could have dislodged it.😉This apart, she is shot then in far too tight a close up, and two incipient pimples on her right cheek, one large and one medium-sized, are in unfortunate prominence😭

That is it, and I regret to have to say that my take on the dance remains exactly what it was. It must be the Generation Gap. My profound apologies!!

One thing, one should not drag in the staple of 'middle class values', whatever they are, to explain away Purvi's approach to the dance today. First of all, the 'middle class' so beloved of our TV serials (where it is treated as some sort of avoidable and possibly contagious disease), is not a monolithic bloc in any country. There is the upper middle class, the middle middle class, and then the lower middle class. I would place the Karanjkars in the second category. Now, one sees any number of 'middle middle class' girls in front of any college, and these days, not one of them, going by my experience, behaves like Purvi even in staid Pune. I shall not even go into the way in which they ride pillion behind a boyfriend or, equally likely, cart a boyfriend along behind them on a scooty. So much for the present behaviour code among 'middle middle class' girls even in relatively conservative Maharashtra.

Now let us take our sanskaari Purvi. She is now his fiancee and is going to become his wife in 2 weeks or less. Yet, when Arjun asks her whether she would like to dance, she says 'no' instantly, as if he was suggesting something improper. Then, she looks to the right, and then to the left, just as she did when he took her hand at the pao bhaji place when he was still a mechanic. It was ok then, for they had no accepted relationship. Why repeat that now?

During the dance, he handles her like Dresden porcelain, and she displays about as much animation as one of those figurines. She does not smile once, and I presume you will all say that it is because she is so overcome with maidenly modesty at this undue proximity to a handsome young man, no matter if he is her affianced husband-to-be. All I can say is, BOSH!!!

Contrast this with the readiness with which Purvi draped her boss' arm around her shoulder and lugged him off to find an auto, when he had a mildly sprained ankle. They were right at the hospital entrance, and any ward boy could have been asked to help out. Now that is one thing that I, even in my sassy youth (Laurie, I am truly flattered!) would never have done. It would give anyone ideas!Any more than I would have sat working all night in my boss' hotel bedroom, instead of telling him the facts of middle middle class mores and making him get some more staff in. Or let him put eye drops in my eye either.

Inconsistency, thou art the middle name of all the PR CVs!

Shyamala

PS: The best scene in this PR episode was, for me, not one of Arjun-Purvi , but the shot of Manav as he listens to Teju's (silent) account of Ovi's wrist slitting. His face shows frozen despair in every line. One can almost feel his helpless anguish; it leaps at you off the TV screen.

Miss Shyamala - excellent post. I agree with almost everything EXCEPT and u guessed it - Arjun-Purvi dance!!! :D. Before I get into the details, just want to say - u did it again - exceptional post. Unlike PR - u have a consistency and you can dish out great work everyday (no matter the script (show) u get).

@ Bee - as I was reading through the thread and saw ur post... I kept saying, Bee better tell us her opinion or Ill die from curiosity. If she doesn't she better believe I would PM her! :D. Thank you for allowing me to sleep and not wonder.
@Jyothi, Janhvi... I too thought the dance was good, I would take that scene anyday in any episode - even if they are showing the court scenes and just throw them in there! 😆. But... I thought Arjun looked quite comfortable and ready to romance his lady... and in Purvi's defence... she has only declared her love recently and openly, she still has that mentality where she is not suppose to be all up under a man... YES - I think PDA is needed with them... but I can understand her initial reaction to not want to dance a slow dance in public. BUT... I think she nicely redeemed herself as Arjun kisses her on the forehead, she kinds closes her eyes and slowly reopens with a blush (may have to rewatch this scene to ensure I get the facts right - what a harship 😉).
There were sooo many other things I wanted to say as I read tru the posts... but I started to laugh so much, they got lost.
Laurie - I too like RDs face and not ashamed to say it !!! Vilasini also likes his dance moves... Jyothi likes his hands, for she is now obsessed with his tattoo/scar... so among all of us... no part of RD is left unnoticed or for anyone else 😆.

Shyamala...I really agree with your ideas...a good post. I thought it was a very boring ..no direction...blah..episode...Even if they want a filler epi to figure out where they want to go, they could make it a little more interesting. 🥱

@dance...i totally agreed with you. Not wanting to squash those who loved it though. I just thought Purvi's stiffness and shyness was way out of place and unattractive. I assume some parts of Indian tradition has this reluctance on the girl's part, but even that could have been more flirtatious...Archana's shyness with Manav in the early days was never this extreme, and it was totally acceptable to the viewers. Purvi did warm up a little bit, but the whole thing seemed a bit odd. To show Purvi so reserved and stiff and dressed in matronly & unattractive clothes surely detracts from her character, which is becoming kind of dull ...She was much more lively and vibrant at the beginning of the post-leap. She's a lovely actress...and her talents are sometimes wasted...(along with Hiten, Puru, et.al)

@Archana's phone call...here i differ slightly. I think that ARchana's phone call and trying to include Manav in Purvi's wedding is nothing more than a desperate attempt to have just a little more time with Manav before she loses him forever.. not really to have him be Purvi's "baba"..but that's a way she can try to connect...otherwise she has no thread at all as she has been cut off from all the rest.

It seems yesterday's show showed a hopelessness on all fronts...and no fun or excitement in the Arvi jodi...like...let's just give up on everything. 18 years later, nothing has changed. Why have all this drama then if it's just all going to go back to what it was before?

Whatever we all think yes a divorce, no divorce, the cvs will do their own thing...something bizarre and not fun i am sure... but i don't think i can stomach a third marriage...for what reason??? It will have to be on the last day of the show as you said...and all these shows that end like that...so hokey...are .. just dumb. It would be nice in the writers of PR would for once surprise us with something positive.

Thanks, naava. I am glad I now have at least 4 in my camp wrt the Arjun-Purvi dance!😉 Please do take a look at my post to Ash in this thread.

You just might be right about Archana's phone call, I would trust your judgement on such matters of the heart.

As for the rest, it is becoming more and more bizarre by the day, with enough threads hanging around loose to make a respectable weaver bird's nest. Let us see what happens next week.

One thing, however irritated one is with Archana every now and then, one can rarely fault Ankita's performances. Even in this episode, her expression as Purvi brings in the poha is delightful. And then she always looks so pretty, which mitigates one's periodic desire to bop her on the head when she is pontificating about maintaining rishtas.

And Purvi copies her to the T, lecturing Arjun about not badmouthing her Punni tai. And now they are going to invite all the assorted ill wishers to 'celebrate' a marriage most of them would wish at the devil!

"camouflaged brickbatting", Shyamala !!! No, it was never intended that way from any of us. We are just die hard romantics at heart who cant resist when Arjun looks at Purvi that way !! We just cant help ourselves but love it. Any logical explanation on this doesnt help us 😊 !!! We are gone case in this !! I did go back and see it just now after I read ur post and I still like it 😊
FYI, I hardly notice what Purvi is doing there, I am too busy watching the expressions on Arjun's face !!

By now, you must be hitting ur head in frustration at my foolishness :)

BTW, no new article today !!!

Enjoy your weekend, Ladies !!
