yeah.. I know..But, they are talking about more of it hitting florida than texas. These hurricanes change track, so have to see how it goes.
We had a bad one with Ike...galveston almost disappeared.. so have to see how it goes..maybe we just end up with bad rain most likely.

Balike, tumhari ichcha ki poorti huyi hai! (Young lady, your wish has been fulfilled).

Take a look at my Trishanku episode. It will leave you no wiser about anything, but you will be in good company - that of the CVs - and then you will have some fun with it.

Laurie, Jyothi (and anyone else in the path of Hurricane Isaac),

I am worried for you both and your families. I hope you all come thru with no serious problems, and I shall keep my fingers crossed for that.

The US is one of the most disaster prone areas on the planet, as I found out during my 7 years there in 2 stints. There is always a tornado or a hurricane or a flood somewhere or the other, and then hillsides in California suddenly disappear under landslides carrying a line of houses with them - the list is endless. And I am not even talking of the San Andreas fault, about which I happily disregarded dire warnings from family and friends when I shipped my Sasha over to Stanford for 4 years, in an area that they were almost sure would disappear under the Pacific Ocean in his sophomore year!.

I was always shocked by the lack of global attention to all the suffering these disasters cause to the Americans, unless it is on the scale of Katrina. They are a very resilient people, but one should at least understand the magnitude of these crises and empathise with them (in this case with you folks).

Shyamala

Thank you for your concern Shyamala Aunty and unfortunately I get to say that I'm a pro at this hurricane preparation thing. Atleast I'm disaster trained! I will keep you updated on what's going on.
Jyothi, I remember that. My sister drove down after a couple weeks and it was insane. Whole houses washed away just like that!

Thanks for your concern, Shyamala. We might probably not get the full effect here in Texas, let us see what happens. It is a regular happening here every couple of years as we are so close to the gulf of mexico. For Hurricane Rita, the threat was category 5 initially, so we drove down all the way to Dallas to escape it. It was a nightmare as all the freeways were blocked with traffic, had to stay there for 3 days.. Luckily it didnt hit Houston as bad as expected. We stayed back here for Hurricane Ike, our house escaped the backlash, as we are in the suburbs, but quite a few areas of houston and galveston were badly affected for weeks.
Crossing our fingers this time.. let us see..

Jai, no, I don't know Marathi and never lived in Maharashtra.
The translation was just a guess work based on my knowledge in Hindi. Take a look at the words, they are very much closer to the Hindi words.

Probably now after this translation, I should start claiming that I know Marathi too in addition to the 4 South Indian Languages and a bit of Sanskrit 😉
