I know there is lots of comparisons here about how Archana can love Purvi more than Teju and Ovi, how is that possible, it is against nature. I find this way of thinking that adopted children are somehow less than blood children a very cruel and cold way of thinking. Archana might have many faults but I find her most endearing quality is her ability to love Sachin and Purvi more than anyone else. I believe this is nature versus nurture. There are lots of mothers who give birth to kids but do terrible things to them, where did their love go, did it not exist in their nature to love them. Perfect example in this show is Savita's love for Manav, many went as far as saying she is adopted mother that is why she is so cruel, this to justify that only adopted parents can be cruel, such a sad thought and bad stigma for adopted parents. Savita did what she did regardles of being his biological mom or not.
I think nurture is very powerful feeling, mother's relationship to a child is more than just a name on a birth certificate, she nurses and takes care of that child since it was a baby. It is love that comes from that kind of bond that cannot be compared or matched. I know there is a special feeling if you carry a child in your womb, but what happens if you dont nurture that feeling and the child is taken away from you then do you still love the child like nothing else. I am skeptical because if you don't nurture that love you will lose the connection that you once had that is normal human tendency. I find the alterior thinking that a mother's love for a child that she gives birth to is higher and more special than the child she raised is the one i disagree with. That is why according to me Archana might love Ovi and Teju but she will never have that bond with them that she shares with Purvi.
I think it would be a different scenario if she raised them all equally at the same time, then if she chose Purvi over Ovi and Teju then we can have something to complain about. But if you think about it don't all parents do that regardless of whether child is biological or not, favoritism is natural in every household. I dont necessarily see how favoritism translates to loving one child less, some kids bond with their parents better on a more emotional level, it is just natural but doesn't mean parents care any less for the child that can be more distant from them. I just see Purvi as Archana daughter regardles of whether she is her blood or not, she nurtured her so she will have a bond she will not have with Ovi and Teju that for me shows a mother's true love. If she nurtured her other children she would have that special bond with them too. Parents do favoritism in kids intentionally or unintentionally that should not be influenced by if the child is related to them by blood or not.
This thought process that adopted kids should mean less to their parents, and once they have real kids they should be disregarded is what creates the seed of unwant and unworthiness in the child and they don't deserve that. I felt bad for Purvi when she felt the need to be reassured, what else did you expect Archana to say 'oh sorry my bad i am sorry you are not my real daughter that is why i shared nothing with you now off you go and mind your own business'. Archana as any loving mother said what her daughter needed to hear that she is very special to her, why shouldn't she be, does Purvi deserve less, and it is upto Archana to make sure Purvi doesnt feel this way again. Sadly all adopted kids have this nagging thought that one day their parents will just leave them behind once their purpose is fulfiled. Archana adoped Purvi under ghastly of circumstances sure at that time she needed a purpose, so if someday that purpose doesn't exist should Purvi not mean anything anymore.
This idea that people adopt as if doing favor on the child, so once that ehsaan favor has been fulfiled should their importance be any less, maybe this is unrealistic but I find it cruel as well. World is cruel I guess and people are use and throw, but can we place a mother's love for her child above such cruelty.
