Who do you attribute the success of Pavitra Rishta to? The star cast mainly, for portraying the emotions and characters so well on screen. The simple story, the narrative, direction and the production house. All these get equal share for the success of Pavitra Rishta. I also thank the audiences who loved our show so much. They identify with the characters which makes our serial so popular and successful.

How is your rapport with Ankita and Sushant aka Archana-Manav? It is good. They are lovely actors and co stars. What can you tell us about the upcoming track involving Archana's pregnancy? I am unaware of the future developments on the show. The creatives would be the best people to answer that.

What do you think of your character Savita? Savita is like any other woman. Everyone has dreams and desires and so does Savita. She lives in a chawl, a lower middle class family, and has always found things lacking in her life. Her husband is an artist but good for nothing as he is a drunk. Her son works in a garage, so when his life doesn't go according to her plan, she gets frustrated. Savita was happy to accept Archana at one point but both Manav and Archana got divorced. Later, when she accepted that and began dreaming of the goodies Shravani would get, Manav got married to Archana. So, she lost her cool and sanity with all these topsy-turvy emotions and situations in life. She is actually a woman who is sad and depressed in life and only wants her due. |
What do you like or dislike about her? She is good hearted at times but can play a mean game when she wants to. Her loudness is a distinguishing trait. Do you have to work hard on it? Not at all. I am not sure but perhaps the loudness wasn't written as a character trait in the show and became a part of it. My voice is really loud so with me the character Savita too got a loud voice. In my family everyone is loud. If you heard my brother talk normally you would think he was fighting with someone. Even in Kuch Iss Tarah another Balaji show I did, I was loud as Shanta bai.

You seem to enjoy dancing on stage. Among all your performances, which one did you enjoy the most and where else will you be performing in future? [Laughs] At first, the Zee representatives asked me to dance at the Zee Rishtey Awards. I was shocked and refused but they didn't take no for an answer. I told them the last time I danced was years ago in school. But once I got into rehearsals I began liking it. And when I went on stage and danced I had fun. I watched the reactions of the audiences and realised they enjoyed it too. That gave me the enthusiasm to dance in Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega, Dil Se Diya Vachan, Saas Bina Sasural and another Zee Rishtey Awards. I have done lezime, lavani and free style dance. All have been fun but the most fun of all was the Komdi dance. Now as I don't keep too well, I have refused many offers of dance. |
Which has been your best work todate? All of them as I have done them with sincerity and honesty. I love working and being on a set. Currently, I am shooting for a Marathi film and work keeps me going. |
Do fans advice you to be nice to Archana? What kind of reactions of you get? When some people meet me they are too happy to meet Savita and talk about her non stop. Some will tell me to behave like this and that with Archana while some simply are glad to see me. There are those fans too who try to find out what will happen next in the show. |
