saffy, guess all this has become way too serious. it is a stupid soap after all, and even American soaps are highly stupid -- so no point tearing our hair over whether or not D followed the law or not. As for gurgaon workers unrest, I do not know the exact details but I think the company declared a lock out. In India, the sense of entitlement of workers is very strong. It is a typical thing you will hear at the work place, and not just in the movies : hamne is company ko apne haaton se banaya. To deal with not being able to sack permanent employees, companies declare a lock out. Workers on hand-to-mouth find being out of work difficult to deal with, and more so when they are already battling high inflation. The case of workers manhandling and killing a manager proves the point. There is so much uncontrolled anger when you are suddenly out of work, and you have to convey this to a family that is dependent on you. In the film Up in the air, the girl staffer who practises giving a pep talk to the retrenched workers finally quits her job, unable to bear the emotional strain of people breaking down. So these are volatile, highly emotional issues and to expect manav and co to be reasoned in their responses is unrealistic. I never thought I will side with Rasika but I would love for her to rub D's nose in the mud.

Darmesh may be right from his business POV of retrenching the workers , but it was a very harsh decision taken at the wrong time.
Can imagine the workers state of mind, during Ganpati festival they
are being told to leave the job.
